When did I say I would stop primecoin development? Go back to the prerelease annoucement, I specifically said both ppcoin and primecoin would have dedicated long term support.

Yes primecoin is part of my long term strategy to compete better, since when is having a strategy a bad thing? So please don't listen to someone who'd like to twist my words to suit his own agenda.

Hear, hear

Seems to me Sunny was just reasuring the PPcoin community that two (quite different) coins could be better than one and that long-term development would be maintained for both.

There is plently of room for every Alt. coin and competition is good for any market place.

...

Back to the thread roll... 'Build 8' seems to give the best pps and blocks found on my i7. Seems to be an OK build to use for now ?

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Well i think everyone has the new updated mining qt now so even 2200 is not much compared to some people with lots of machines kicking out 1k each. I think 1 -4 blocks per day at 2200 seems about correct. I am getting around 3 with similar pps. Strange the last block went up to 17+ again it had been shrinking under 16?  are less people mining it now? or why was the last block larger? i though they were shrinking.

Sort of... all of those releases contain the code changes that Sunny mentioned may not be good for the protocol.

Best thing would be if we saw an official build with this updated code. Then there would be no need for these homemade builds.

In any case, I've switched back to the official codebase and recompiled for my i5 and don't see much of a reduction in PPS I'll probably pull down those old builds to be replaced with ones using the official codebase... unless Sunny would be so kind as to make a new windows client for the community.

Nature of the game. Get on a trading site that supports XPM and see how much 7 blocks are worth... Much more than the electricity spent to mine them that's for sure.

Here is a replacement for release8 which uses the official codebase. I will have a replacement for release5 momentarily as well. Those were the most popular, if there are others people want rebuilt let me know.

OK. Thanks. I'll try building my own version tommorrow from the official code base or just wait for a new windows client build.

Back to the offical build then? Even with increased pps when testing some of the builds posted here the number of blocks found has actually remained fairly consistant for me vs using the offical build. I mean considering a mostly increasing total network pps and factoring luck etc., the overall variance in finding new blocks isn't really that different actually (although this could just be variance also). Better to keep a stable protocol...

I got two rig trying to run this build:
https://github.com/Zalfrin/primecoin.git

One is fine, the other stuck at block no.2. This about 5 hours ago.

So I switch back to original git, which is perfect.

I don't have any agenda towards you or your coins.

I have an odd mixture of appreciation for your work, and being appalled by the entire presentation and follow through.

It's clear you've done this far more casually than most people could. When I read the original announcements, I was enthused. I read that at ppcoin forums the day you posted it becuase I was looking for more information about primecoin and it's work. I waited eagerly for the release, and I've mined the coin on several boxes along with my other activities.  I mean thanks for helping me pay my bills.

Just sort of tossing an unfinished product out there and practically walking away from it is pretty shocking. The sort of "figure out yourself" attitude was surprising, for someone pushing out a change like this.  To come out and bitch at the people trying to sort it out, after all that, is really just the cherry on top.

Looks more and more shady.  Like the market ploy is more important, to you, than the innovation you've chosen to push it.  Of course it's good to have a strategy.  Whether it's a good strategy or not is another issue, and who it's good for is a third.

So, I'm fascinated with it and sharing my thoughts to receive feedback and other inputs. There are a great many man-hours being spent refining your work.  If you're not going to help, you could at least avoid complaining about the direction of the efforts.

Now everybody stop fucking with your CPUs (and the wallet) and get on that GPU miner so sunny can have his threat to Litecoin!

Or am I somehow missing the whole point?
