I don't think averaging extreme ratings is or should be the solution.
There are 2 conflicting problems at the same time.
The first is that ratings are exaggerations. Ratings attract people who have very strong feelings about the thing they are rating. Especially if they are angry. Let's say 20 hotel customers had a bad experience. 15 of them rate the hotel 0 stars, while from the other 980 customers who thought it was OK only 5 bother rating 3 to 5 stars.
The other problem is the opposite. If you have thousands of ratings the most extreme ratings disappear in the statistics. But those extreme ratings contain the most important information. Let's say most bank customers don't really read the small print of a loan they got, they're happy enough they got it at all and rate the bank 4/5. Only 3 customers notice misleading terms in the documents and rate the bank 0 stars, but are completely averaged away by the happy customers ratings.
I am sure that any ratings can be artificially adjusted. The question is who will pay for it and how much. Conspiracy can never be ruled out. And it is a trivial task to use bots. Some people might say that it is simple for people/AI/machine-learning to detect bots, but if people are competent enough it is easy to make multiple accounts that can't be differentiated from real accounts. I agree that there are many biased websites in the Ico classifications segment, but I believe that nothing should override the personal research of the Investors, I do not let myself be influenced by some classifications, there is less that there is real sympathy for the project, concept and Work Team, as built by Repu, in my case This is pathology that ICOs developer created to attract naive investors. I hope that repu will be able to change it

It seems this project REPU will grow in future become very popular for it's nice platform it is nice to follow this project for more updates.
That is a valid point since we are now getting accustomed to rating platforms, I guess adoption for this project will go in a faster rate.

How many people do you have on the whitelist? I think this project deserves a high number which should not be that hard because there is a lot of buzz with ICOs at the moment.

I hope that repu will be able to change it It is not ico devs that created this - it is people that wanted to capitalise on desperate ico devs that want to raise lots of funds and have a good community hype. Repu wil still need reviewers to dyor thoroughly in order to give an accurate review of an ico’s ‘reputation’.

If the AI will work as intended we will have a very nice tool to not get scammed (potentially on everything)
Didn't they promise a very high succes rate? Like 90-95%? AI is not a silver bullet in this area; a low quantity and quality of available information for the AI to assess will still result in a poor/inaccurate result Even if both of those are available, I still think those numbers are way too high!

So I think they need some partnerships with the famous restaurant/hotel critics or something like that to attract more people. I dont really know about them, but there are people like that in some movies (about hotel or restaurant).

Partnering with other reputation systems would be a strengthening of a competitor, it would be better to seek a similar service provider outside of Blockchain, this would show to many who still can not meet, the potential of Repu and everything that will be provided by this

Yes i also think that use repu for ico rating site could be a good application of the project. There is so much application for smar reputation management. It’s a big need especially in crypto world where reputation is a really important thing.
But isn't rating a ICO different from normal ratings like for example where customers give ratings about a restaurant or a product? ICO rating sites are mostely ratings ratings from the same persons and a really small number of persons if I am not mistaken. The main point for me about REPU is that they want to bring fake ratings at a low level. Still, even if you ignore that, I think for ICO ratings there is no need for a system like REPU.

Repu can be a basic service that integrates with a variety of applications to provide social rating system

I think i havent heard of any so far. There was another rating project but it was blockchain based.

Repu can be a basic service that integrates with a variety of applications to provide social rating system If you think could substitute or integrate reviews made on those websites like tripadvisor or similar for example. Those kind of websites are used a lot by pepole but, the results they show can be easily manipulated, i mean you need to trust the website.

I’m confident it would be better than the current TripAdvisor/Amazon etc websites, but it will be interesting to see how Repu’s system stacks up in these real-world applications

So there is no cheating.

Thats is why cheating in repu can not be regulated or corrected since it is recorded in the block chain any information false and true can not be moderated by anyone.

We will soon find out how it works. The private beta testing is already in March, if I'm not mistaken. We'll see then if they were able to achieve such a high rate of detecting bad ratings.

Well, it is up to how the interface will be. Of course, everything will stay on the blockchain but if there will be a "delete" function or so in the interface which shows the data from the blockchain, you can at least make such stuff invisible for the normal users. It is maybe also good to check for a rating before it will be integrated into the blockchain, a trial phase for the rating for some weeks maybe, after which the rating will be integrated into the blockchain.
