Investing in ripple is a good decision since the price are drop down but in my opinion you need to split your investment into two since your capital are huge $12000 just try the EOS and NEO this two is one of the powerful altcoin in the market the developer are awesome with a great technology inside.

I think Ethereum is quite potential and you can invest in it for a long time without fear of failure. It appears mostly in large projects, trading floors and in the Altcoin market. So it will probably replace Bitcoin in the future

If you are looking for one and that's already established on the market - that's QSP - a lot to go in stores, great  project and will be in high demand. Believe me, its at least 10x from todays price by summer.

If you have that kind of money, don't invest it in just one coin, invest in several, just in case one of them crashes. So better invest your 12K in several good coins.
