I've now been looking out our stats for the last 10 days or so. By my rough calculations, over that period of time as a whole we've been about 97% as profitable as straight LTC mining. https://i.imgur.com/lw0FU20.png

Interesting work. By "straight LTC mining" do you mean solo mining, or pool mining including fees? One integrating thing is that, in the short period of your graph, the two seem to be trending opposite each other. One's going up while the other's going down. I wonder why that would be (if it's real). It would be interesting to see a longer term study like this.

That would be fine. I'm sure there are a lot of businesses doing similar stuff.

I assumes the most "average" luck possible for LTC mining so that would be roughly the equivalent of mining in a very big pool. I'm not including fees on the LTC side so if you want to assume similar fees, they should be roughly equal over that time period. The big contributors to the LTC profit rate on that plot are the difficulty for the day and exchange rate. I'd hesitate to say one was more profitable than the other without longer term data and/or a much bigger difference than a few percent. I will say, however, that when I started with Middlecoin in early Aug I think we were doing better than we are now. We may have gotten large enough to help eliminate the inequality we are trying to exploit. We'll see though, maybe things will pick back up. LTC profit seems to be fairly stable so all it would take are a couple big days for us to drastically alter the way this plot looks.

H2O,
It could be awesome if you put an "instant Mh/s" option on middlecoin webpage. I don't use any monitoring system and it sometimes difficult to see if my miner is working well using the "accepted Mh/s" as it is an average for the last hour.

I made a balance stats page like a week ago, forgot to post it this thread. It's different from coinGeek's in that the data is stacked, so the numbers on the axis are cumulative. I think it's pretty cool. http://middlecoin.andrew12.net/

I think it's pretty cool. http://middlecoin.andrew12.net/That is pretty cool, and not very many people can do that. It's interesting to see accumulating payouts and it's one way to illustrate the difference in payouts from day to day. I'd argue that none of the balances accumulate over time but are really the same value in coins that move from one to the other and eventually to payout. Edit: It is interesting to note things like on sep 21 there were a total of ~1380 BTC of accumulated immature and 1360 BTC balance. The difference of ~20 BTC is maybe mostly invalid blocks and so on. Where did you get the lifetime accumulated number of unexchanged and immature?

Where did you get the lifetime accumulated number of unexchanged and immature? Cumulative balance = total paid out + current balance Cumulative unexchanged = cumulative balance + current unexchanged Cumulative immature = cumulative unexchanged + current unexchanged Flot automatically stacks them up, using the stack plugin, so I just have to give it the current balances. This is my script to check for updates: https://gist.github.com/andrew12/35ab2c6eaa7ce8f8de60It runs every minute.

people running botnets should be solo mining and not screwing over smaller guys on pools.. AND they would make more too ! They usually do that i think because they are dumb and/or greedy !

Maybe in the future. At the moment, there's too much work to be done on the scrypt pool.

h2O,
can you give us what you're working on currently? I mean, in terms of this pool, what is your most immediate plan? Next immediate plan, etc... I think we have a right to know what your planning on improving here.

I'm setting the pool up so that we can distribute our hash rate onto multiple coins. Then, we can mine a wider variety of coins. This also has the side effect of eliminating the gap when we switch coins. Also, I'm setting up load balancing onto multiple servers, to improve performance and increase reliability. Next will be setting up an EU server. This will be easy now, since I've done most of the work setting up multiple servers in the same datacenter. I don't know what will be after that. I'll see what's a priority then.

Today looks to be shaping up to be one of the better days we've had in a while. The last two were pretty terrible but we were floating a pretty large unexchanged and immature balance. Nice to see those moving over.

ok, appears you have to increase the difficulty, at 600 G its way to high, the GPUs are spinning for a couple of seconds until a new block is onthe network. The reject rate has increased to extremely high levels EDIT: experiencing a 30%+ reject rate, time to turn the babies off
