I don't see how any of these coins can replace bit coins when in all exchanges BTC is the main trading pair vs alts.
Even ETH trading pairs have less liquidity although it is available in most exchanges.
So until they manage to do that then maybe there are still inferior to BTC so it's stricly impossible and people must understand that

I can't really think of any new altcoins that could beat Bitcoin in terms of Market Capital, indeed Bitcoin had fallen when comparing it's speed and scalability because that's the biggest weaknesses of Bitcoin but in terms of security and network reliability then Bitcoin of course can handle all the network stress and congestion but slow in speed.
I only think about Ethereum, Ripple and NEO could beat Bitcoin's overall advantages, in due time either Ethereum or Ripple or Neo will surpass Bitcoin's market capital soon. Not this month, if not this year then definitely not forever. but soon.

Top Altcoins are struggling on beating Bitcoin's market capital because when Altcoin surges then Bitcoin will also surge and pumping but if Bitcoin drops then every Altcoin also drops so seems Bitcoin is bringing the Crypto market momentum in the gameplay.
But I don't believe that any from the new altcoins could replace and bear Bitcoin's market capital although Bitcoin already fallen by the comparison of speed and scalability.

Yes, one of the leading altcoins will surpass bitcoin sometime in terms of market capitalization, most likely it will be ethereum. This is unlikely to take place this year, because bitcoin is still quite strong.
