It is actually quite easy to to get shut down by governments if they unite and lay down some laws about using bitcoin. Once Bitcoin is grown out of control and even threaten their authorities they will not just sit there and watch.

Guys, let's be realistic. While the whales will earn even more money, until no one can prohibit anything. If they could, they'd already be locked. And now they are puzzling over how to make money.

Of course, they are trying to find out a way for regulating or controlling over the crypto world. Most of the government at present are little bit worried about the rising crypto industry or block chain technology. Basically, they are afraid of the reason of money laundering case and drug business around the world. Not only that but also every financial institutions are very carefully observing this situation. they are taking this crypto platform as a rival and risky system for the people. so they are trying to demotivate people not involving in this crypto world. a silent war has started already...

The article is interesting, I've already heard this opinion before. But notice that not all states act in this way. Transferring the country in this respect is Germany. This week she took a serious step toward cryptography (read the news in Google)

"Regardless, just because South Korea, China, the US and other countries can crush Bitcoin by issuing new regulations and influencing cryptocurrency prices, it doesn’t mean they can kill it".  The above quote is from the research information I got when I was trying to find out why world government is fighting crypto. Please read the full text here: https://www.ccn.com/fighting-bitcoin-cryptocurrency-trading-threat-government-policies/ and make your own contributions. It will help cool the nerves from the crypto dip we are experiencing recently. Happy reading. Thanks

I don’t believe that crypto can be killed at all. On my mind it is technically impossible yet. At some moment in the last Satoshi Nakamoto was very worried about it but for now it is not a threat.

Why it can't be killed - it can. But only in that case if the entire internet will be killed Grin
But really, I can't imagine what should be done to kill the net. Because if something serious will happen - not only cryptocurrencies will lost their value - even fiat money will become unrecognized maybe.

I love it when the Fudders and the doomsayers start flocking whenever there's a thread that tackles about the so called "death" of cryptocurrencies, spreading their word of doom. Albeit they have lots of cash to buy more extra coins once it dips.

Government alone is able to kill crypto to a big extend, stopping the crypto trading in their own country. This is only an example of one country, if most or even all country stop crypto trading i will not be surprised that crypto will be kill by this rule alone. However in the market now more and more consumer and business is developing this new technology, the government most probably will join in sooner or later when the pie is getting bigger.

And it's not even worth it for them to kill it. There's too much money to be made in it, they'd better regulate it with tons of fees.

I think in the future they can pinch, strengthen the discipline and manage crypto. They can even restrict and compromise the laws of the commercial departments of crypto. But the government will not easily kill the crypto trend. Because the problem is they do not know their citizens who are holding and investing in crypto.

I think that the joint actions of the government of key global giants in the crypto industry can cause significant damage to all cryptocommunity, but not to kill it completely

Using my country as a case study I don't think government can kill crypto, don't have a solid back up for saying this but I have a strong feeling that maybe they may just stand has a regulator but not the extent of putting an end to it.

Killing crypto will need a global regulation that formed from all countries agreement on prohibiting the existence and the usage of bitcoin, therefore, bitcoin will have lesser users but the user who uses it illegally may still exists.
However, if bitcoin could just hold up like torrent which is the same p2p, maybe bitcoin will just be like illegal torrenting which exist but hiding if all the countries banning bitcoin.

I think government feel hard to kill crypto currency since this is discentralise currency and look about bitcoin there are some country already banned bitcoin but still more people who are using bitcoin without a trace from government.

I think they can kill crypto if the world government are serious to ban all cryptocurrencies and for those who run the exchanges sites will be in jail. We cannot earn money with cryptos if that happens.

Hi, at this stage, the growth and future direction of ICOs and crypto-technology seems heavily dependent on international regulation. We should get a far clearer idea of what form international regulation will take (positive or not) when the G20 Finance and Central Banks Deputies meet in later in March 2018.

Nope, government cannot completely kill cryptocurrencies at all cause of their decentralized nature. They may only block transactions possibly in local markets, so they can damage but not kill..

If there's one thing that can kill cryptos, it's heavy regulations.

If the % fees are too high, people will probably drop it algother - that's what i'm afraid of.

1) There is no "world government" and some countries may support cryptocurrency only because the others are against it.
2) Even if "world government" would try to ban they just can't do that. What way? Not possible
