ICOs in 2018 not same as 2017.

With more and more international discussions on ICO this year, most of the experts interviewed still believe that it will be some time before the clarity of government policy is monitored.

Apparently, I do not even believe that monitoring will take place with immediate effect but I want to believe over time, it would help a lot of things. The going down in price however for some of the ICOs is not really because of them being scam, it is simply because of the way the market is generally and those who see it as a chance to buy more if they believe in the project will always do so. I feel what the OP is saying anyway since I am in the same shoes with tokens like AdBank recently.

This strategy cannot be applied universally to all cryptos. If ICO is legitimate and has a good foundation + the team behind it, it's unlikely to be destroyed in the first bear trend. many examples can indicate that it's worth research a coin/token prior to making any contributions/investments.

i estimating, coinmarket will begin to recover as May or June .you are absolutely right, we have to wait.  patience is the greatest virtue. It does not make sense to sell at a low price.

Yeah like when you know that you're already losing, better not to cut loss now because it hurts more than you know. Personally, almost some of my coins that came from ico are all negative and it's quite frustrating when you think what you've loss but then again I just clear my mind and buy more! In the end of the day I'm keeping my hopes too high for this, again!

When there will be more money coming this year and investors in 2017 will hold then definitely more ICOs will be created this year
and there is a big potential of success of some ICOs. It's not actually about the number of ICO but the quality, if there are potential ICOs
with big mission, most likely investors will participate in ICO or buy after the ICO.

The fact is that in 2018 many investors have become more attentive to the choice of ico companies to avoid fraud, which last year was even greater. But for today the bad market does not give the chance to develop many projects.

When it come to ICO this 2018, I do not think anything has changed so far. The negative sentiment and price decrease has nothing to do with quality ICO. Quality ICO with best team will still fly now or latet. You responsibilty as an investor is not to miss such ICO.

I don’t know why, but 2017 has seemed to be better than this 2018. I’m just hoping that things will really change for the better. I can remember that back in 2017, things were not really good at the beginning till around that May or something (Uuhm… maybe after the month of May) and started going up and things got  better, everyone made huge profits I believe. I believe the price fall is affecting every ICO in the market today, that’s why their price has also fallen more than 50%.

No, I cannot say that most of ICOs became successful in 2017. Most of them simply vanished together with the money they collected. Now, after some bans and restrictions, the number of the project will be reduced.

Indeed its hardly predictable that whether the ICO will be scam or not. Initially we might get represented with the biggest model ever built but in the long run things could turn upside down really. In 2017 things were completely different as new ideas were actually new one! In this year what we see is same idea put forth in different way and thus making it look like the different project. But that doesn't work anymore and people also know that. This decreases the credibility fo the ICO in later stages and thus we see major drops in the prices. If that continues then it could drop idea of the project and if it recovers then it could get up the project to al new heights really.

There are a number of great projects though, I believe it takes some time to take traction ad the bear market takes every coin with it, hopefully towards the end of the month we will see improvements of the market

I have observed the same. I would always recommend waiting until after the ICO to invest.

I have lately been just avoiding ICOs myself. I find it much less risky to buy a midcap or highcap coin as they do some announcement and sell back the BTC i put in after a 30% gain and hodl the coins I got left. This carries much less risk.

Since the market is trending downwards lately I dont think we will see ICO season till we go into a bull run again.
But I agree with you, if it is a project you like then right now it is quite likely you can just buy on the post launch dip. That would be better to do imho. If it moons on launch just do a stop loss order and buy in, you lost some coins vs getting into the ICO at that sage but you can still get in on the project.

I think that the difference between ICO before and today is that the ICOs in 2018 are more scam and failed. A lot of existing ICO right now have don't capacity to success unlike before. In addition, the competition of every ICO is getting closed. In fact, a lot of genuine ICO that lose by the scam one. Because scam ICO are more promising than the true one.

That is because of the increasing ICO, now it's harder so we need to be more diligent in making our research to ensure
that we will be able to invest our money on legitimate ICOs, there is a big risk in investing but with smart decision making, that risk will be minimize.

this is my own opinion but it may help others.

I have found that all the ICOs i have invested in have launched at almost the ICO price but in a few days dipped below the ICO prices by half or 5X for some.

With this i have discovered its better not to invest in an ICO but wait for the launch and the DIP to buy it at the corrected prices made by market forces.
Its just too hard to tell the real or recommended value of a token in an ICO these days.

It is too early to judge the year 2018 performance by comparing it against the year 2017. We have just started the 2nd quarter of the year in which we really don't know what will happen after this whole year so i say that we should wait and see before we compare the two years and decide on which is the better year performance.
