A lot of people wonder what is the criteria of a good gambler, here are some of my thought about good gambler

a good gambler never chase profit
Profit might be the first reason why people gamble, but a good gambler never attached to the profit, the most important thing in gambling is excitement and fun experience, having profit is just the bonus

a good gambler able to control himself / herself
Self controlling is very important in gambling, without a clear mind there will be a lot of mistakes in betting and even causing reckless betting and losing all of the money in split second

a good gambler know when to stop
Setting a limit is very important in gambling, setting a lost limit will prevent you to over spend your money and setting a win limit is  also important because in the long run the house got a bigger chance to win due to the house edge

a good gambler never cause any problem to the surrounding
A good gambler know that the chances of losing money in gambling is huge, so a gambler should never used daily needs money or borrowing money to gamble, and a gambler should never think of robbery or stealing to gamble

a good gambler can accept lost
When losing a good gambler won't blame the surrounding, cursing or accusing the  casino as fraud places, losing is the half part of gambling, if you can't accept lost then dont start to gamble

a good gambler should able to manage the time
A good gambler know how to split the time for family, for friends and for gambling, a good gambler never neglected family or friend just because of gambling

We must encourage people to become a good gambler, so people won't always have a bad judgement about gambler

To put everything in one place , "a good gambler must possess a high level of patience and a strong composure". A good gambler never walk away from casino a loser, good gambler always win, why? because a good gambler never forget the purpose of gambling " to shake the stress,problem, and all the negative vibes away" I doesn't matter if you lose or win financially. Winning is just a consolation prize after finding your self a leisure to escape from harsh reality

well this is what most people expect, most people gamble with high emotional, hope to win continuously and get bigger profit, naturally everyone related to money must be related also with emotional background to support family, if all the gambler like this possible the gambling criminal rate will be smaller

Simply just go and enjoy the game don't care about the money making with the bets and always need to remember that gambling is an entertainment purpose not an money making business.

That is very true and many times I also said the same thing. Don't expect any profit from these games and spend only the money you can afford for that day to enjoy your free time then you will never upset with the gambling. These games bring money only the casino owners but for players, only entertainment so spend money on these games responsibly.

I agree with all of that criteria and I think we need to know about this so we can be a good gambler. number one and two is difficult to do because most of the people chase the profit and even they are lose all of their money but they still cannot win the games. some people feel difficult to control himself and still play the games without know when to stop the games. we need to learn step by step to avoid losing much money so we can be a good gambler.

I believe that a good gambler must be fairly patient and disciplined. Good players understand that there is no point in continuing the game if they see that the game is not going and therefore they will not bet on the late betting rounds. Good players from time to time will make very unexpected decisions.

I think managing of time its most important and tops it all; its the essential thing a good gambler should try to emulate. Because when you manage your time; you play less and when you play less; you control  your urges to keep on playing. And when you control your urges to keep on playing; you become less addicted and you loss less. Its a web chain thing. Cause one bad incident leads to another.

Good points but you could have to summarize it to only one and that is "Self Control", usually a gambler who is losing is the one who is emotionally attach to the game rendering him/her to make not so good decisions in gambling. People who usually make bad decisions are the ones who can't control themselves as they are always hoping for a come back or they are hoping that they will get their money back for winning something big, and it is hard for the casino has the upper hand in every bet.

As simple as that, self control really affects the outcome of our journey inside the gambling house, you can well manage your money if you have a good
self control and you will not be busted if you know when to stop and you can also win decent when you know when to quit, self control will teach you to

You can be like that only if you are calm at all times of your playing but how many gamblers can have it all at once? It's pretty rare to see a gambler like that coz we all know most of gamblers always getting by their emotion wether they are winning or lossing. I, as a gambler have the last 3 but the first 3, I always tried but it's not that really easy eventhough i'm winning or lossing.

All of that is easy to understand but those criteria are hard to apply because when addiction comes to you some of that will be ignore and you only want is to play and win you forget your limitations. I think all of us is a good gamblers in our own way, the better things to do is dont forget our limitation to avoid the great enemy which is addiction.

This is a great summary for everything that is posted about what a gambler should be. I agree with the original poster that it should be done like that and there should be like a check mark if you are doing it regularly or a reminder if you have chased profit or something like that. Not following this criteria would mean that you could lose a lot or maybe you could go lucky it depends.

That's why gamble only can be done when they mature enough and I recommend if you're not ready for lose, better to stay away rather than sorry.

While I agree with everything you have written here, I think they are too idealistic which never really happens in real-life situations. You cannot find someone who possesses all those because one way or another, you would encounter different problems or be confronted with unique scenarios. At best, I guess gamblers can only satisfy a number but NOT all your criteria. Maybe to be general about it, you are a good gambler if you profit more than you lose. And because of this, you do not end up empty-handed. This is basically it anyway.

it seems that these two criteria fit in with me, any limit I have is capable of leading to victory and admitting defeat or being able to give up that loss becomes the key where we can always walk comfortably to gamble.

It's a good list, but I think almost everybody already knows this, it's pretty general info. So I'm not sure how useful it actually is for people... If you're prone to addiction, this probably doesn't do much for you.
Also, I think that most people who are aware of this, still have a chance to become addicted. It's something that creeps up on you and before you even realize it, it's too late.

In theory following these rules should be easy you'd think, but it's different in practice for some people.

Yeah it's always easy said than done , the theory , the strategy that seems should make things easier to make money steady would useless when you have to face the reality yeah the emotion and the greed always win to take control over yourself. I think OP just hit the stop here. Personally I would say that the his first say it all. A good gambler should be gambling for the excitement and fun it brings, and not for the profit. This alone should take care of all the other things. The problem is, that many gamblers still think that they can "beat the house", and end up entering in a spiral of bad decisions without really knowing it. If they just accepted that the most likely scenario is that they will lose money, they would only gamble to have a good time with friends, and things would go well no matter what.

I see very people keep on winning in the poker room games. That kind of idea will help to see the profit on gambling.

A gambler never chases profit? yes, I conclude that in my self never chase profit because maybe you will lose everything because of it and that greediness will make you down in overall. Mindset if you have gamble is very important because you will know when to stop if you have too much lost. This criteria maybe could help us if we remember this thread while we are in gambling.
