A lot of people wonder what is the criteria of a good gambler, here are some of my thought about good gambler

a good gambler never chase profit
Profit might be the first reason why people gamble, but a good gambler never attached to the profit, the most important thing in gambling is excitement and fun experience, having profit is just the bonus

a good gambler able to control himself / herself
Self controlling is very important in gambling, without a clear mind there will be a lot of mistakes in betting and even causing reckless betting and losing all of the money in split second

a good gambler know when to stop
Setting a limit is very important in gambling, setting a lost limit will prevent you to over spend your money and setting a win limit is  also important because in the long run the house got a bigger chance to win due to the house edge

a good gambler never cause any problem to the surrounding
A good gambler know that the chances of losing money in gambling is huge, so a gambler should never used daily needs money or borrowing money to gamble, and a gambler should never think of robbery or stealing to gamble

a good gambler can accept lost
When losing a good gambler won't blame the surrounding, cursing or accusing the  casino as fraud places, losing is the half part of gambling, if you can't accept lost then dont start to gamble

a good gambler should able to manage the time
A good gambler know how to split the time for family, for friends and for gambling, a good gambler never neglected family or friend just because of gambling

We must encourage people to become a good gambler, so people won't always have a bad judgement about gambler

 Greedy to win more and chasing the money when you lose must be avoided to have something in our pocket when we leave the gambling table.

Criteria of a good gambler from my personal experience into gambling is to stay within limits and have expectations to a certain limit. When the expectation to win big strikes the mind automatically the risk that associate with gambling will also turns big which needs to be eliminated from the thought.

Well, that just would make him a reasonable person who understands that gambling is not meant to be for profit making but just simply a way to just try out some crazy things which is what I call it anyway.

I do not thing there is any specification for gambler on whether he is good or bad, as they are all gamblers anyway and they are losing. Someone who is matured with his anyway will know how to always not set mind to make money from gambling but just to have some fun.

Some people are just taking risk beyond their limit that it came to the point that they are risking the things that they cant afford to lose and when they lose it can affect their personal life really bad. I know few person who play gambling that make their lives more worst. I do not encourage them to play gambling but I really think that they are a addicts now and I cant do a thing to make them stop. That kind of people is the person I think is a bad gambler.

That is always why most gamblers simply lose everything they have ever worked for anyway. It is a big mistake to think that you can get something substantial from gambling or setting one’s mind into thinking with consistency they can end up making shit load of money from gambling. This is just an insane way to think and one of the main reasons a lot of gamblers fall into this crazy zone where they eventually end up as an addict which is bad.

maybe good gambler knows when the time he should quit the game and leave the place, he knows that when he wins the games with the winning money, he needs to leave the places as soon as possible because he can attract to play more games. he can manage his money by placing the bet and he knows how much he needs to spend. he doesn't play too much just chasing the winning money because he knows that this will be difficult to do so he decided to play without any consequences.

Gamblers know it very well that this game will never ever make them rich and they never obtain the best money out of this game, still they become addict just for that little easy earned money.

That is right hundred percent. There is nothing good in gambling so there must not be any good or bad gambler. Every gambler, even he was good earlier, now he becomes toxicities with this stupid game and greed of money. So he becomes bad now. You must understand this fact that there can never be any good thing encapsulated in bad thing. This is a poison that eats you and makes you evil.

play sportive is one of the criteria of a good gambler and I am sure that there are many gamblers do this. but many of gamblers cannot make a wise decision in the gambling games because when they play the games and suddenly they get lost, they will become curious and they forget to make the decision to continue the games or to quit. but I am sure that there are a lot of criteria of a good gambler that maybe I don't know.

OP I think your criteria are more "Ideal Gambler" points, as I've yet to see a gambler fit all of these at once.  I also tend to look at gambling as somewhat of a vice and definitely not a money making mechanism or even a hobby.  Kind of like smoking and drinking.  People need to do it responsibly if they do it at all and realize that there is always a risk of creeping into that territory of problem gambling.  After that's reached, you can kiss money management and family life goodbye.

Still it's a decent list.

Although maybe no gambler in the world fits the criteria stated in the OP, it is still a decent list, like you said. I take that list, as well as some decent additions in this thread, as something every gambler should strive to follow.

When we gamble, of course sometimes we do chase profit, the question is how often do we act like that? And sometimes we lose control and don't know when to stop, but when while gambling we reminisce the list from the OP, it might be very helpful.

this is a must to learn from gambling, I think this is the basis on which we can become a pro player in gambling, because all knowledge about gambling will always we learn as long as we still do gambling. hopefully we all fall into the category of pro gamblers

I think that all investing in the hope of rapid growth is not the best strategy. Everything else depends on the type of gambling, you need to be able to think and not make decisions with your feelings. The poker game, and successful players clearly reflects my approach to gambling.

Gambling is a very bad addiction and that the ones who are used to it invest all their money even if they make that investment in installments. They cannot stop themselves from gambling until and unless all their money is wasted in gambling as they are very much fond of doing so and that they keep on going for the ways using which they can get more money so that they can gamble even if this results in loss.

Gambling actually becomes an addiction for those who allow it to become an addiction for them. The thing with gambling is that if you cannot control yourself, the greedy nature of humans and those impulses that comes with gambling, there is absolutely no way anyone can do right. Once people start seeing gambling as just a game of luck and there is a huge chance that they can lose what they are gambling with, I guess we would end up having more sane gamblers than insane ones.

Treatment is difficult at later stages but it is not impossible. I know a lot of people who were addicted to gambling badly but they recovered and are leading a very good life now. As per my personal experience, the only way to avoid that stage is to keep yourself busy in other activities that are more important for your survival.

Gambling is not easy. Experience, skills, tricks, tactics and of course luck are the features of a good gambler. You cannot win a bet from a skilled gambler. A good gamble thinks all the time about the tricks and thinks positively to win the bet. It is also good strategy of a good gambler to bet a small amount and not the whole to lose another chance of betting.

It doesn't depends on which game you are playing,it just depends on how he is playing like control manner and limits while betting .Yes you are little bit right most of the players will lose money in the long term but it doesn't mean everyone if you got enough lucky then you will probably will as much as bets but it is highly impossible that will happen.
But gambling doesn't for money making which was created for the fun if you missing it then you are nit a good gambler too.

I feel sometimes luck is over rated which is why some people think they can even have the positive mindset and channel luck towards them. It may work for some, but in the long term and when it comes to gambling, I have never seen someone who really did not get hit at some point.

Such mindset allow people to get the wrong picture and behave in a manner that totally screw them up entirely until they realize how hard it is getting out from the addiction they have placed themselves in.

These factors that you have mentioned here can play the role in making the criteria of a good gambler but for me the criteria of good gambler means that he should know when he has to stop or leave gambling for good. When he would come to know this thing, I bet he can easily become a good gambler because in that way he has to face no big losses like other people in gambling.

Yeah, the impression that someone can be good at gambling at any aspect of it is actually a wrong mindset to have. The only way to be good at gambling is to know that you can never be good at it as there is nothing to be good at. But practically no gamblers get chances to know those things.

It is not a skill that one gets good at, it is a game of luck and the more most of the gamblers who are just stuck with the mentality of winning started getting this, the better for them to either stay away from gambling or gamble with an extreme caution of not losing their minds.

Agree, good gamblers are those who are able to keep from falling into things that can interfere with his life. Those who use little of their money to gamble and no intention to use the money that should be used for other purposes, are those that I think a good gambler.

Quitting gambling couldn’t become criteria of a good gambler because when he will discontinue gambling, he would no longer remain a gambler and when he would not remain a gambler, than there will be no criteria for him which is for good gamblers which we are talking here. I think the gambler becomes a good gambler when he knows when to stop.
