We're going to be doing that anyway. I'm looking for an exciting way if giving our genuine customers a one-off bonus.

Well, this sounds nice. A lot of the people have been playing the Lottery for months and they have not won a single Satoshi. It will be a good incentive to give them some kind of bonus to reward their loyalty. In my country, our Lottery has a lot more small winners at the bottom end of the prizes, so there are always some kind of hope for these people that they would win something bigger in the future, when they win small prizes at the bottom.

It is just human nature to eventually stop trying, if you never win a single prize for years.  Roll Eyes

Albert Einstein said, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" - I guess the crazy people like myself have been ideal examples of his theory.

At least I win a very small amount of money in my local Lottery, so I get some kind of reward to incentivize me to keep on trying for the big jackpot.  Roll Eyes

That's true of all the big lotteries. I'll put that on the list of long-term suggestions but I don't think it will work as a way of giving away this bag of loot. It'll just attract more bots for the week we do it as it will be a big +EV event.

It's pretty hard to find a good and "fun" way to distribute the remaining coins.

I think 20 winners is a good idea, like maybe have 2 winners for each price point.

Or you just redistribute the winnings for the bots to the other lottery ticket owners of that week, a re-raffle.

That was my first idea then I realised that with the ticket database being full of bots we would just end up with another set of cheats winning.

Oh that's fine I'll just send you my ID.

But yeah, true. I thought maybe you have the botnets IDs, then it wouldn't be that big of a problem

What about a lottery by deposit in a certain period or have you found that the bots deposited?

I suppose what ever the suggestion to redistribute sadly will have a botting potential as it's something of monetary value.

The only thing that kind of doesn't have monetary value is the reward points.

At least one of them tried that but I don't think they will again.  Wink

1 Reward Point = 1 Satoshi. You can sell directly if you have more than 100,000.

I'm looking for something that can't be gamed by the botters.

Can't you exclude them from a re-lottery if you just exclude all IDs with ID number > 15xxx that have lottery tickets between 23k to 27k or something, I bet you have the better insights to the numbers. Of course one or two legit users will also be excluded that way, but well.

I'm looking for something that can't be gamed by the botters.

Mail to all users - lottery (depending on prize fund) split between ID  ranges - and make it one entrance per email reply.

Reply with IP address, last roll Server / Client Seeds etc
With a XX hr reply time frame.

You'll be able to match the data - Plus
Botters will have to scrawl through their email boxes they generated, and provide you with IP ranges for blocking 😉
AND you know that your mailing list is up-to-date.
(Helps with Euro/UK GDPR rule's should you be approached)

My number begins 15xxxxx and I deposit to make up my entries.
Past few weeks I've 23-25k, 5-6k and 50-55k.
Does that mean I should be excluded?

How? It works as a verification.
You could even add it to the site - the check seed function is already there.
Can that be integrated that one click in a certain time frame gives entry to a super draw?

How?

We're a cryptocurrency gambling site. The typical high roller signs up using a throwaway email address and uses TOR or VPN. They deposit, play and withdraw and then never use the account again. Sending people an email asking for information is not something that happens in this industry.

Edit: I forgot to also point out a lot of our older accounts don't even have an email address as it wasn't required for the first few years and accounts were only created by BTC address.

You could aloways do the bet amount (in satoshi) times the bet odds to make it interesting.

So someone who bets say 1BTC with 20x odds would get 2 billion tickets...

Thanks for explaining - did not think of that.

I'm just trying to think of ways that manual interaction is required.
The company I work for had a similar problem with a monthly competition they held last year to promote their 25th anniversary, they tried everything after the 3rd mth.
Only things (unsure if it was a combination of these or one)
Email verification, 3 question survey/question based on the site, and a Captcha. - entries dropped a good 40% after the third month and was consistent until the final month.

How about splitting the Lottery into a draw for "older" accounts and then a draw for "new" accounts. These bots have to

continuously have to re-register "new" accounts to go undetected, so if you split the lottery into 2 separate Lotteries, then

the bots will only be effective in the "new" Lottery and the "old" loyal users can have their own Lottery with much less bots

having a influence on the outcome? The users can even be given a choice, where they want to buy tickets. Just put a little

disclaimer on the "new" lottery that chances are higher that this lottery would be infiltrated by bots.  Huh

Bots are actually exist since the first days of freebitcoin, at least I know there were many people abusing freebitcoin by creating many accounts to claim the free btc. If those old abusers are not banned yet, the split wont be effective as old users does not mean loyal users.
Instead of splitting the lottery, it is better if freebitcoin find a better system to avoid those bots so bots wont be able to join the lotteries. Or simply make a new requirement for the lottery, accounts should be older than xx days or account should have at least wagered xx amount on the hilo games or other requirement to minimize the bots.

If Wetsuit's bot detection was a good as TheQuin has mentioned, then most of the older bot accounts would have been

blocked, so in theory you would only be left with genuine old accounts. They can then just add a prompt on the old lottery

for new users to block them from using it. {If they try to buy tickets and they are not within a specific range, then the system

just displays a message, telling them that they should buy lottery tickets from Lottery X, with a short explanation.}  Cool

We've already stopped new users from buying lottery tickets until they have completed 25 free plays. That's more than long enough for the system I came up with to find a very high percentage of the bots. I'm working with wetsuit on ways to stop the rest.
