Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...

Actually, the ico is not the only problem, sometimes the ico's are really paying the entire amount on the developers but the problem is there are managers who are scamming other people since the amount of bounty is very high.

there are still some ICOs under the guise of scam, but actually most ICOs fail, not because of scam, ico failure is due to not reaching the softcap that has been determined, so the ico project was canceled, and all the money collected investors will be returned

Now really a lot of scam projects.  But most of the ICO are projects that have not reached the soft cap.  And very few successful projects.  Sad

You are right, most of the ICO are scams. That's why people are more cautious about ICO now. I will wait several months before considering any investment in ICO.

Yes, it is true that the majority of ICOs are scams, but it does not mean they all are the same. Maybe I am a little bit naive, but I believe in ICO

Many ICOs are unsuccessful and have scam marks! Participation should be carefully considered and considered to ensure maximum risk avoidance.
Generally good projects will Bonus moderate, not heavy and there clear roadmap!

Well, firstly, not 80% and less. Secondly, if it was as much as you said here now would not have been half the people who are present here. Third, some ICO projects are reborn again and try to restore the missed chance to become successful.

Yeah right. And you know what? The very best strategy that they the team of a scam project doing is making a well-presented whitepaper to convince the investors. I am thinking what kind of alternative way to find this kind of scam aside from social media.

It seems to me that the scam of projects is much less than 80%.  A very large number of projects that do not reach soft cap.

Yes, indeed, now there are many different ICO projects. But in order not to become victims of fraudulent projects, you need to carefully study the documentation, pay attention to the team, feedback and reviews about the project.

yes, I also agree with you that most of the ICO is a fraud, usually in my country called "NOW JAVA FUCKER" because it is difficult to distinguish and think a bit sophisticated.

because I am also including new people here, so maybe from you all of you who have been here long can love the knowledge for me or the people who are still new here about how to find the ICO honest and the surrounding potentially for us all here.
thanks.

I do not think that 80% is a very accurate and truthful information, like after the last changes and hardening of the control system, now many scammers quietly leave the industry. We are waiting for the same control on the part of the banks, which will also reduce the possibility of receiving the money received from bad ICO.

According to a study by Satis Group LLC, 80% of the original coin offer (ICO) with a capitalization of at least $ 50 million is a scum. And only 8% reach the stage of trading tokens on the exchange. Satis Group divided the ICO into six groups: Scam, Unsuccessful, Dead, Short, Perspective, and Successful.

We should make a difference between unsuccessful project and scam project. We have a lot more unsuccessful projects than scam if this can be any relief.

And how did you know that this number is the truth? i do not think that it is really happening. I have invested in a lot of ICO projects, none of them has scammed me, and only a few of them are below ico price at this moment
