I don't think they are scams. I think most of them are worthless. Most icos let you know about it through hype and then trick you into investing in it. I think what you need to do is how to distinguish its value. In my opinion, there are still many good ico projects worth investing.

Its unfortunate but its quite true most ICOs are scams or dont give as much as thy have promised which has led to discouraging outcomes in the recent pat, thats why ico  investment is considered one of the riskiest ventures there is

Yeah I guess this is the time where ICO projects are not yet registered on a country where it was based. But now seeing how the government regulated cryptocurrency and that includes registering the ICO project in that certain country so that they could not run away from the investors. This is the new trend now on ICO project investment however we must be careful also that there are still countries who are not regulating the use of cryptocurrency.

I think its not 80% there are legit ICO's that dont end that well because of lack of lack of investor's if ICO dont reach their target they ended losing their capitals and some of them didnt return the investors money because they are not motivated to do a thing anymore in that case we cant consider it as a scam.

I do not know why there are many fraudulent projects now, or that too many ICOs are failing today because of poor advertising, and they rely only on investors here on the forum, and few in social networks. I think that the true success of the project is a partnership between companies that can benefit both the project and the company that is a partner. However, all the usual failures of the ICO are due to the lack of community support.

Most of the ICO projects that have not been successfully raised have disappeared, and no one will care about their outcomes.

Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...

Well, in my opinion of course less than 80% of the scam. The scam is not projects that are paid for a very long time and leave for the stock exchange, nevertheless it is very unpleasant.

Yes, 80% of the ICO is a scam, but the remaining 20% are innovative technological projects with huge potential, investing in which can bring multiple profits. I think, it's important to see the positive even in that.

I agree with you. I have long advised my friends not to participate in ico. Because most ico is a fraud. In addition to making you lose money, investing in ico has a very small chance of making money.

This information is true, I've come across some ICO who do fraud.
This incident became a thing that many people feared and I think if there are continuous ICO projects that scam will make the future Cryptocurrency become dark.
People will be reluctant to invest in ICO for fear.

don't think that 80% of all ICO projects are scam.. really.. There are lots of scam projects, but I would never believe such statistics. Cause people would stop participate in public sales, if it was right.
There are also many projects that cannot complete their roadmaps. the situation in crypto world is tough now, so we should be very precise and meticulous when choosing a project to invest.

Of course, recently the search for promising ICO projects has become a more complex and responsible task. But if you want, you can find a worthy option, having studied the documentation and the development team.

Perhaps, you are right. I don't know the results of statistics but to tell the truth I was unlucky to face a scam ico once. i think that it will be better to check its realibility before joining it. I think that it is possible

In fact, the percentage is not that big, just many people want to get it all at once. I do not want a company to enter the market because of competition, and so a person, faced with those or other factors that disappointed them, calls the company a scam. Judge for yourself: not every business idea was realized in life, but the factors were different

I think now about 20-30% is the scam ICO.  But I would not better invest in ICO anyway.
