I think that hacker's will always try to find a way to do their thing. But i think that if there are projects like this who keep them from hacking then they might eventually give up.

Lol they will never give up, does security cameras and police stop bank robbers? Nope.  Look at the current security solutions, there are very effective enterprise level products that stop external threats, but did you see in the news that a Las Vegas casino was hacked via a smart thermostat in a fish tank?  We need to be realistic, this is going to help in the fight again hackers, the honeypot will finger print and send out to the rest of the network, and their routers will block any further attacks, but it isn't going to 'make them give up'.  Maybe Bitfence should also do an educational series on cyber security in companies, like I said in a previous post, you can have all the security in the world, but if someone plugs in a USB, or gets tailgated into the office etc it's over.

If the security bitfence is trying to set up is anything to go by, it's an holistic system here intended to secure the user all round but it will be easily defeated when there is a lack of information or rather education on the part of the user which is by itself a big threat, i think bitfence can look at educating alongside the set up, that way the right tool is used with the right knowledge

Exactly, if they can provide a software solution but also provide education to companies as well, it'll be a great step.  Online webinars or videos with best practices etc.

Hehe it is a wise idea, I think people are a bit overzealous in their expectations, they have the ability to have a really strong product platform and really offer something different to the security landscape. But then again they have strong competition so you have to be realisitic in what you expect.

The protection provided by BitFence will be able to block high risk hosts, dangerous payloads and high risk IP addresses. Getting to know the features bitfence offers makes me feel safe already.

Those features indeed makes you feel save and i think that this is why this project will succeed for sure. If they can actually manage to decrease the amount of hacking by their features then everyone should need it.

To me, I don't think the pre-sales have much effect on the main sales thus hitting a target or not, shouldn't matter. As a matter of fact, I don't think it is supposed to have a cap in the first place

Well if you look at their whitepaper, they have annoyingly set the softcap in USD, $1,000,000 to be precise.

However if you look at the presale hardcap, it shows 500 ETH.

Therefore you need to convert the ETH into $ to work out what the presale hardcap is, if you look at ETH at its current price, the presale hardcap is 500 eth = $298,724.51.

So the presale hard cap at the moment is about 30% of the overall softcap.

It depends, a lot of projects, for example Bitfence, will set their softcap and hardcap in USD because fiat is level and this is the desired level of funding they need to develop their project.

However I do think it's confusing they have used fiat to calculate their softcap and hardcap because the price of Bitfence (HNY) tokens is pegged to Ethereum...

6000 HNY =  1 ETH, ETH can fluctuate a lot so it's hard for them to predict the amount they will eventually raise in USD/fiat.

Hackers are the worst, we should try and do our best to ensure that hackers find it as difficult as possible to access our systems. Bitfence is a very good solution to help with this.

Bitfence will collect data from miners, analyze it on BitFence server and distribute the results immediately. Such projects should be supported because at the end of the day you will be the winner and not the hacker.

You are right it is going to be difficult for hacker's to win on this one.. But i have a question who and were are the results going to be released to.

The security industry has always been reactive and way far from proactive. Only when a damage happens that a treatment is released. I think this approach of mining for threats would minimize that gap drastically.

I do agree with you, there will always be hackers but the need to be proactive is needed to ensure some sort of security, actually when it comes to hacking, individuals need to be vigilant because no matter how technological advance your protection can be, we as individuals need to be careful with our way of lives, not to give hackers the avenue to perpetrate their act

We can run a miner application on your Windows / Mac / Linux machine. One per IP address.
We can download Raspberry PI / BeagleBone SD card image and mine with PI 24/7.
We can get a pre-configured appliance from us to run on any virtualization container

It's not going to be like conventional mining, I think most people will rarely, if ever see a reward if they have them at home, I think people will need to be smart and take them with them to places like hotels and coffee shops, places with open public WIFI that is likely to be targeted.

Unfortunately I wasn't aware too  that BITfence has a bounty campaign. That is a great opportunity to get more HNY Token. Maybe I join the campaign later.
