I was updating the Datacoin info on The CPU Coin List when I learned that oocook5u hasn't been active since January. Is anyone else doing dev work?

Nobody knows. The code was open sourced a while ago but there's no evidence of anyone doing anything with it other than that new HP miner afaik. This is still my favorite coin but I really wish Cryptsy would have picked it up when we were rallying for it. As of now the price is incredibly low so if you still believe (like I do), buy away.

I think what needs to happen is someone needs to upload sensitive data publicly to the DTC blockchain to stir up talk and start using DTC for what its strength is. Distributed, unkillable data storage.
Basically what it needs is content.

I too still belive in Datacoin. We may coop and upload TPB, WikiLeaks or some other database. This should do the trick.

Seems really interesting if the guys of Storj deliver, which I am sure they will. Also, I am willing to help if some work must be done for Storj - DTC cooperation. On a side note, if someone reading this thread is using krypte.net as an online wallet, please see the latest post at https://krypte.net blog, it affects you.

So, whats the story with the volume on bter, on the 12th and the 14th of march.. We are heading back up to that area now to test it. Capitulation or accumulation? Does anyone have trade history from that period? Price has not moved much since, if it can get above those trades and use them as support it would become interesting. Is something in the works or was that just a final dump?

Is anyone interested in joining a datacoin foundation? Just out of curiosity? If there was a foundation committed to finding a developer, we would need engineers of marketing people (mostly engineers at this time because we need to reestablish datacoin). I am a bit busy with Riecoin but I can commit a bit of my time to a datacoin foundation. http://datacoinfoundation.org/

GPU mining is now working for primecoin/datacoin! Regarding dtc it rather means, that lot of dissapointed xpm cpu miners connected to gpool to mine dtc at 9 diff. It explained the sudden jumping of the number of gpool dtc miners

I was playing around with datacoin, but I seem to have found a small issue in the tx data size checking code.
According to the website, data can be up to 128*1024 bytes, and it is stored in binary.
From what I can see, the rpc methods send and receive the transaction data in base64, which makes sense, since it's a json based transport layer. Eventually, in wallet.cpp, that base64 payload gets decoded and placed in the transaction in binary format.
Unfortunately, all the payload size checks are made before decoding, applying the 128k restriction to the base64 encoded data, although it will be stored in binary. This means that when using the RPC calls, the limit for the data is smaller than expected (around 128*3/4 = 96k).
Have I stumbled into a bug, or am I missing something?

I also stepped on this and reported it to the original dev, but didnt get any response. This also means that the fees required are higher to upload data.

This status is unchangeable like stored data in blockchain. :-) It gives unique worth to this coin

I think metachains, or chains that describe or store data other than just coins, will be a huge concept by the end of the year.

I have a really cool idea that could be based on datacoin's structure but needs modifications. Im a developer myself but not C++. If someone or a group is interested we can chat about it but I will need to know you a bit first to tell you the idea. It has to do with sensitive data (partly) unkillable. snowboard789@gmail.comaris
