New version of the mac client now has auto-update support, whenever a new version of the nxt client comes out you will be notified and asked to update. The app checks for a new version on start, and also once a day if you keep it running forever.

Download here: https://copy.com/Gd4AMCJjdJ3l

Now I need some people to test if the auto-update really works (as it does on my system), so you can download a version here which has the nxt 0.3.19 client included. After startup it should ask you to update.

https://copy.com/MeTLJy7zhiM1

Btw, you will now get a "loading blocks" message on first start. This ensures that blocks.nxt and other files are created and you do not see zero balances. This is only on first load of the app and if you haven't started the app in a week or more.

Donations are appreciated, put a lot of time in to this. Only 3 donations so far. Thanks to those that did donate :-) (Nxt id in my signature)

PS: Right click the application, then choose "open" if you get a security warning, this is normal - because the application is not yet signed.

PS2: Make sure any other java server is not running any more before starting this app.

- and will you be able later to change http://mykewlsite.com' to, say, http://batmanforever.com' ?

Yes. But only if u send a new assignment from the same account.

1. Will there be a pre-announcement on when this function will be available?
2. It it possible to transfer the name (ex: I want to sell it for 100 nxt to Joe User)?
3. Will anyone have access to this function ahead of time or is it a free-for-all?
4. Any type of rough ETA?

Thank you for the quick reply. I just want to make sure I understand #2.

1. I purchase candy and link it to mysite.example.com
2. Jill wants to purchase candy from me
3. There is no transfer/sell option. 'candy' is always linked to the same acct number.

Is that correct? I'd love to option to be able to sell these. Also, with NXT amount so low, doesn't that just encourage someone with a crapload of coins to drop 10k on names?

The most obvious use of alias is to name your account #.

Hope BCNext will provide the possibility to send money to the alias.

good idea....each alias would be unique....it would protect from sending funds to the wrong account No.'s.....just send to the specific alias.

I guess a search function would also need to be included in the client.

Just search the alias & send.

Correct, u have NO option to sell these except by selling ur secret phrase.

Anyone can squat as many names as they wish. NRS picks high-fee transactions in the 1st place.

There seems to be a problem with software not running over https port 7875. Upon trying to login it just won't load, although when i try to login on the non secure port 7874 it works fine. There are no errors in console.

I've now tryed it on my local machine and I'm having the same problem, can't login with on 7875 but 7874 works fine.

Is there a guide/thread on how to register alias?  Sounds like a great feature.
