I'm trying to set up a VPS node. I followed the instructions here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4103726#msg4103726The last message I've seen is: WARN:oejh.HttpParser:qtp1902432947-18: badMessage: java.lang.IllegalStateException: too much data after closed for HttpChannelOverHttp@ee15b1f{r=1,a=IDLE,uri=-} Is that sufficient to aid the network? I haven't created an Nxt account number. Can I do that without opening the GUI client? If not, is there any way to do that from a cloud VPS? I can't install the client on my own system until it is open-sourced.

will a VPS with a 100mbps connection be OK? or do we need the 1G? I found one eith 4GB RAM and 4TB data per month for $18. not sure how much extra data costs yet though, but its got a 100m connection. will that be fine?

This is brand new code, it takes a while.
I think the "alias" feature should have been put back and the Hallmark put forward - what is the point of trying to increase your traffic when you are getting attacked with zero defence? I agree. I can't be sure, but I get the idea that while CfB and others work on the network and other issues, someone else (maybe BCNext) working on the new features. After the source been released, more developers can work on these issues. Until then, they have their hands full I think.

I would agree if the attacks had started prior to the Alias feature launch. Yes. Attacks started after another price jump and not alias release so I'm guessing attackers are actually investors and want to buy more. I'm hodling.

dont be an idiot. do you not realize that bitcoin had no attacker in its infancy? everyone ignore this retarded troll
Yes - thanks for the compliments (if you read my history of posts you'll see I never troll but I guess you don't care about that do you). I think the point I was trying to make perhaps has got lost - so let me try and say it more clearly: "The software is unable to get new blocks"

I was able to read instructions in this thread and download new nxtfiles.zip and revert back to 0.4.0 and BAM I came right back up. I only assumed you were a troll because you seemed to be unable to read. or unwilling, and wanted someone to hold your hand

Thanks, I followed the guide, see my ip in the list of peers, but I want it to show the domain name instead. How do I do that?
you can to put your domain or subdomain instead of IP in web.xml, make sure your domain or subdomain actually resolves to that IP (set up the dns entry), and to be double safe, set up a reverse DNS entry for that IPto map to that domain or subdomain - but I am not sure about the last part, need to consult CfB, it won't hurt to set up rDNS though. I just did this, but now I'm in the blacklisted peers (with the domain showing instead of the ip) - any idea why that is? just because of on another blockchain or something?

The version of the software on the forum is still 0.4.2 (and I am not going to install some random software - so if they want to *downgrade* it then do it on the forum where everyone gets it from). I don't believe the version is the issue though as I trashed all 0.4.2 connections (so I could not be connected to the "zombies" according to CfB's own description of them).

no idea, need to ask CfB, you might be temporarily blacklisted, as long as your NXT syncs and is on the right blockchain, you should be ok I guess.

I just setup a 2GB VPS hallmarked at: https://162.243.214.68:7875/Thanks to laowai80: I sent you a 1LTC tip. Interestingly, it does not show up in any of my lists when running locally on my laptop. Any idea why anyone?

NXT VPS Server Donations can be sent here: 6044921191674841550At the end of each month I will donate some of them back to the community. This is separate from my main wallet so you can keep track of them. I will keep them in there and only use them for hosting.
