Important announcement

BCNext devised a way...

Discuss, the community may put veto on this approach.

I am not convinced.
if BCNext has to free the 10 accounts anyway by himself, what is decentralized about it?
he could just send the Nxt himself.
and what happens if some accountholder dies? what happens if he refuses to fund the project, the community voted to be funded for?
wouldn't the distribution of the 10 mil. Nxt be a good test for the voting system?
BTW: did the devs already decide IF this will be implemented at all?

CfB, J-L

maybe you didnt see this valid question.

What will be achieved with the funds set aside for development? (partialy answerd)

and what is the overall status of these projects, can you give comment on

for example:
Fund: OK or NOK        progress:complete,started,n/a            needs: development client

- Decentralized Alias System / DNS
Register names and assign them to URIs.
URIs can be anything from web addresses to Nxt account numbers.
These aliases will be tradeable in the near future.

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Basic DDoS Protection

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Decentralized Asset Exchange / Colored Coins
This allows gateways to issue assets on the Nxt network.
These assets can include cryptocurrencies (BTC, LTC, etc), fiat currencies (USD, EUR, RMB, etc), stocks and other assets.

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Transparent Mining
Transactions are encrypted.
Only PoS block generator can decrypt transactions.

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Arbitrary Messaging

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Instant Transactions

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Decentralized Marketplace / Auction
Buy or sell goods/services in a distributed manner.
All listings are broadcast to all nodes on the network in P2P fashion.

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Distributed Storage

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Multi-signatures

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Blockchain Shrinking

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Two-phase Payments
Software supported escrow transactions

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Voting System

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Reputation System
Will be implemented after Voting System
Account trust rating system.  Check if sellers on the distributed exchange have a good history, if stock issuers pay dividends and if gateways honor their asset redemptions.

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Decentralized Mixing Service

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Distributed Computing

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Smart Contracts

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Hardware Wallets

Fund:          progress:            needs:

- Advanced DDoS Protection: Project Kharon

Fund:          progress:            needs:

Valid points. We should point to 3 random accounts and ask their owners to reveal themselves.

Great work Marcus03!

It looks like you built this with Delphi, did you use VCL or FireMonkey? I have not worked with FM, but since it is targetable to OS X and Android, it probably would be the best choice.
I occasionally have built some stuff in Delphi, but would prefer to switch to C++ Builder wherever used Delphi before, so I am considering buying Studio XE5 - contains both.

Currently I quite a problems with Java client forging and cannot figure out if it is my network setup or bugs in the client/server, but if I could verify that your client works behind 2 NATs,
I would drop researching what is wrong with the Java reference client.

By any chance, if you need small help here and there, let me know. I would love to contribute to your client. A good client is the most important factor for NXT success in 2014.

Yes, this is a Delphi VCL project. I've never used FireMonkey. The project (and pretty much the whole way I code) relies on Developer Express VCL components and they do and will not support FM, so this will stay Windows only.

Thanks for offering your help!

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

No. It doesn't. There is no API call for that.

Bad idea. REALLY BAD IDEA to change the client software and hard-define transaction rules inside the client. Am i alone who think so?

Idea itself is okay - allow people to decide.

But the execution is not the best I'd say. If there ever be alternative server, It'll have to copy such quirks.
The more such quirks, the uglier it gets.

Please don't do this!! Is a really really really bad idea.

Changing client software for this things, like blocking NXT inside accounts, should not be an option. NEVER.

Please, don't play with fire.

I've ran out of beer and have to use fiat to buy more. This should be fixed ASAP. Will be back in 30 minutes.

Start drinking whiskey and you'll find that it's easier to gauge when you're about to run out Smiley

Hardcoding this stuff into the core code is probably not as good as i thought. I change my opinion to: Don't do it.

I see. Maybe then this is something I could work on, as forging is the main problem I have with Java client - lots of invalid blocks generated. Someone suggested that the negative blocks in the GUI is a JS code issue
in the browser, but forging is definitely console process thing.
So if you'll find a way how we can collaborate I am on this. The reason I've been quite passive up to now is 45hour work week consulting, but I could spare 40 hours a month if now and then working on some individual bits and pieces.

If that is ok, I will get XE5 next week. Getting VCL parts ported to FireMonkey as an exercise could be another thing I could focus on behind your shadow.

Have it delivered....
Better still give your local supplier a NXT account - we'll keep it topped up and he can deliver.

Can something like Stealth Addresses be implemented on Nxt? I don't have the technical knowledge to comment on it, but this seems very interesting. What caught my attention is that anonymity is achieved with a single, fixed, public address:

"* Abstract

A Stealth Address is a new type of Bitcoin address and related
scriptPubKey/transaction generation scheme that allowers payees to
publish a single, fixed, address that payors can send funds efficiently,
privately, reliably and non-interactively. Payors do not learn what
other payments have been made to the stealth address, and third-parties
learn nothing at all. (both subject to an adjustable anonymity set)"
