Community. If BCNext wants a say, maybe he should decloak from time to time and drop in.

He didn't say he wants to pick 10 people? I said he should pick them. If he wanted to choose by himself he'd already did it. Anyway what's your problem with BCNext's anonymity? He's obviously cares about Nxt. What for you want him on the forum?

Every of them 1/10 part. Or every account may have a number from 1 to 10, so account 1 pays until it's empty. Lots of options. Security should be the main concern.

Speaking of security, Drexme was active less than a day ago. Any word on him and the NXT he supposedly stole?

1 account, 10 million.

9 anonymous people are chosen.

3 get the first part of the password.
3 get the second part of the password.
3 get the last part of the password.

So to send money, we just need to contact 1 of every group.  This needs to be a diverse group so that no one can figure out other people that might be in the group of chosen ones.

Make a script that allows input of the password parts and then executes it.

Or better yet, use some sort of screen sharing where each person then enters their password phrase. Everyone can view at the same time.

Regarding 10M thingy, what do you think about using one of Secret Sharing schemes?

There are schemes, that allow dividing the secret into ROLES, i.e. BCNext would be general, and let's say 18 soldiers.

To "vote" (make transfer) there would be needed vote of general and k out of n soldiers.

General is not able to do generate Shared Secret by himself.
If there would be conspiracy of soldiers, they wouldn't be able to retrieve Shared Secret without general.

a general with VETO power?

Also I think this could be done without any changes in client itself.
It could run on separate host (possibly inaccessible to both generals and soldiers) as a service.

I'm launching a cryptocoin based on Nxt AM technology. It will be a PoW coin, but it will be protected against 51% attacks by Nxt PoS algo. If this coin becomes popular then we will see a lot of forks. Any ideas if this will make Nxt more or less popular? Such coins require to have an Nxt wallet, coz transactions a made by paying 1 NXT fee.

nice, this will reveal nxt real strength. many people looking at nxt as
a currency only atm but nxt is a very complete financial (+ more)
contruction toolset able to create and run many different decentralized
entities. if time is left, i intend to show a DNA* prototype.
not only a dumb piece of code stored within blockchain but more a dynamic,
semi autonom and selfmodifying agent, able to communicate and serve the user.

Community decided to pay 10,000 NXT to X

Who of the 10 accounts will pay?

Where did I say I have a problem with his anonymity? He can post here all day under his name BCNext, I'm not demanding he post a driver license or anything else. I think it's unwise for anyone in his position, or CfB, etc to reveal themselves. I'm totally cool with anonymity.

I'm not cool with being beholden to someone that doesn't participate here. He's not the Wizard of Oz. Come out from behind the curtain.

I mean this with 100% sincerity -- why don't YOU pick the names? I would trust you before I trust him. Who are your 10 names?

Are we still going to be conjuring BCNext's name a year from now when we need our hand held?

Yess this would make NXT more popular in the mining community, but not by greenpeace Cheesy

Greenpeace never cared about environment, they care about money. How do you think why protesters magically stop to protest?

That being said, we can pay them. In NXT ofc.

By anonymity I meant that he's not revealing himself at all. We're not being beholden to him. These 10M is the only thing he controls. After he gives it he'll be just one of us. You won't be concerned if I disappear, right? ) So don't be concerned about him too.

I can choose 10 people, but:
1. They should be anonymous, so I can't name them )
2. I don't have the passphrase to the account with 10M

Hey guys, what am I doing wrong?
I updated to 0.5.8 this morning and I cannot access my wallet. I never get the wallet page in Chrome. I went to processes tab in windows and started the 0.5.8 and I see a javaw.exe process which shows up, works 10 seconds and than it shuts itself down. I than tried with 0.5.7 and same thing happened. I reinstalled Java and same thing happens.
Wierd because yesterday was all working perfect.
Thanks for help

Did you use .bak files from previous version?

No. Should I have used them?
Thanks

I would definitely try it... but do a reboot too... to start fresh with all the processes.

No, it still doesn't work..

Are you on a Mac?

https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_mac.xml#chrome

Code:
Why can't I use Chrome with Java 7 on my Mac?
Chrome is a 32-bit browser. A 64-bit browser (Safari or Firefox, for example) is required to run Java 7 on Mac OS X. 32-bit browsers such as Chrome do not support Java 7 on the Mac platform.

well, a real autonomous agent in my definition is an entity able to modify and
enhance itself. you can't do this with classical imperative languages like ethereum is
doing by providing a simple C subset, declaring this as a dsl*.
a real agent is able to change it's own sourcecode[1] and persists it's current state
without the need to store additional endless vars lists to archive this.
the agent i am talking about can search the blockchain for properties he need and than
adding these properties into it's own sourcecode. after usage the agent can hibernate again
within blockchain until his services are needed again. this comes autonomous closer
in my definitions. not perfect but a good start.

Hmmm... I will leave the suggestions to others then.   Sad

If you use start.bat, edit it and add "pause" in the last line. You should see some errors in command window.

That's great I think. And as more forks as better for Nxt.

There's no reason why he could not change his sourcecode while he is not running (by community/member consensus).

In times of change, it is the learners who will inherit the earth, while the learned will find themselves beautifully equipped for a world that no longer exists.
