Could you please quote me where Im linking all these videos? Michael Jackson videos? "Cant win" video??
What are you talking about?

As Ive said earlier, IMO GPUs should be used for fog computing purposes, while asics are more efficient for stupid bruteforce number guessing (mining).

APOLOGIES:  I see it was another individual.  You dropped in shortly after his response.  I "assumed" it was the same person I was talking to.

Please accept my apology?

No problem, I put in a profile pic so it wont happen again Smiley

I encourage you to check out the sonm fog computing project at sonm.com.
You can test it right now: https://blog.sonm.io/sonm-crypto-iaas-testnet-open-to-public-4523d750186a

Thanks for accepting my apology.  Much appreciated.

Yes, the photo helps.

As for testing the sonm fog computing project, I'll have to check it out when I'm better rested.  I've had approximately 4.5 hours sleep over the past 48 hours.

Making up stuff again are we?

"Bitmain's Pre-Mining Policy is a Gold Mine"  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNg5yxlvvng

After watching that video, you'll see what I mean by BITMAIN mining [so-called "testing"] Z9 mini's before shipping them off to those who purchased for August/September delivery.  However, I'm smart enough to do the math to KNOW BETTER.  The hash rate required for that kind of revenue would have to be exponential.  The only answer for that amount of hash rate is a Z9 (not mini) mining at 30k to 40k sol's each.  They are selling crumbs (Z9 mini) to useful idiots blinded by their own greed and believing the BITMAIN ILLUSION.

I can show even more research I've done but why should I?  You're not interested...  You apparently don't want to communicate.

Still no mention of PROG PoW?

Ignoring it?

You have Z9 or Z9 mini?

If so, concerned about your investment getting bricked?

Don't want to SEE potential writing on the wall for Z9 or Z9 mini?

Dude, did you even try to check if the information in the video is correct? No, or you wouldn't have posted here.

The wallet adresses in the videos mentioned are Zcash Co. wallets for the Dev fee. Every Zcash miner should kow this!

The video is a total joke and someone can only wonder that the guy didn't took it down yet.

P.S.: I doubt you believe me and bevor me call me again "liar" ask some of your zcash gpu buddies and they will confirm that the wallets mentioned in the video are zcash wallets!

Someone might want to change the title.  I didn't bother wasting my time with it after reading the title about "Michael Jackson. The Wiz; can't win". How the hell would that have anything to do with crypto by reading the title?  If they made the title relevant to ZCash, people might watch the damn thing.

Typical fake news distribution network(er). Posting fake news, missinformation, wrong informatin, slight and slander and so on ...... Even does not carry about it, doesn't change it even he knows that it's total
wrong information  .....

I personally would edit my post, excuse for the accidential missinformation and would investigate at least the info i post a bit further until i use it as true in an argument.

Of course, that's not needed by you. Every argument posted by the biggest idiots on the net is ok as long as it serves for the personal agenda....

And just as a site note: Fake news distributors (like you) shouldn't even use words and arguments like decentralization. You should consider changing your business, pretty sure you would make much more with yellow press!

I KNOW from experience.  When I bought 42 x S7's the end of 2015, more than a dozen of them were OBVIOUSLY USED.

Whether you believe me or not is up to you.

Computers are going away.  Fewer and fewer people have a "computer".  Everyone has phones, so clearly we need to change to PROG POW and restrict all mining to cell phones...  You know, for the greater good and decentralization and all.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for posting the link.  Clearly the escalation of the tech is getting more specialized and will continue to migrate to the data centers and the cloud.  Less and less of this gear is going to be accessible by average people.

I wonder if nvidia is mining with the unused GPUs in their data center (Wouldn't that just frost dmwardjr's cookie!!)

Well, that is nice and all. However, I have seen this all before. That somehow this new algorithm is ASIC resistant. The simple fact of the matter is that the algorithm may really only be resistant to the current known technology. However, better chip design is an ongoing process. I am quite certain that the Bitmain R&D team is busy coming up with ways to flout anything the community will try to stymie them. And if their team can't do it, I am sure they will be happy to ask for the assistance of Nvidia, Amd, Intel, Samsung or whatever other chip manufacturer, and pony up the cash to come up with a solution for them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPVpMxVn6mk

HI BITMAIN SHILL,

Meet PROG Proof of Work, which renders ASIC's and FPGA's on an even keel with GPU's for the most part.  [About 1.1 or 1.2 to 1.0]:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6B-ZCyP6K8&t=4s

I don't intend to shill for Bitmain. I am just really disheartened that ASICs are cropping up left and right. All I want to do is hobby mine with my one GPU. I really don't want to be forced to buy dedicated or limited hardware just to continue to hobby mine. Most of these ASICS are probably going to be replaced with with better ones in a year or two. So, I end up with a bunch of bricks that didn't even ROI because the difficulty on the coin(s) shot up sky high. At least when my 1 1070 becomes obsolete for mining, it's attached to a desktop that I can enjoy for 4 years or more. Or I can simply upgrade the GPU, which is usually cheaper than buying specialized equipment. Cry
Bitmain coming out with the Z9 has really made me cynical as well. I was under the mistaken notion that Equihash was "ASIC resistant" because of the memory requirements. Now I look at this new proposed algo, and I'm skeptical.  I feel like Bitmain will just cut out the two unneeded components and optimize/improve the components that are needed. If they can't do it, like I said before, they can offer another chip maker to do it.
Also, due to economies of scale, Bitmain can always set up large farms that will get electricity and the equipment for way cheaper than anybody else, ATM. If they don't like the electricity rates in China, the can simply set up a huge farm elsewhere. I don't believe Jihan Wu when he told Zooko that they don't have any "large" GPU farms. Even if true, they are in good position to set up a large one, if need be.

Computers are going away.  Fewer and fewer people have a "computer".  Everyone has phones, so clearly we need to change to PROG POW and restrict all mining to cell phones...  You know, for the greater good and decentralization and all.  Roll Eyes

That would be ideal. However, King would probably come up with a botnet which would allow people to get lives faster, if they use this new nifty feature...

Jesus.    Roll Eyes

If you bought a Z9, we'll see who's crying when all is said and done.  I know you're about to Unignore me to read this response.  If you're smart, you'll look at my previous post.

I don't put people on ignore.   I'm over the age of 12 years old.

You should start a blog.

dmwardjr,

Thank you for your concern and effort to make us all aware of the perils of doing business with Bitmain.  I think we all get it now after the multiple so many pages and posts.  Can we move on now?  I'm sure there are better things you could do with your day/s.  What do you need to hear from the members of this topic for you to back off a little and let other folks express their opinions without your commentary?

I would really love to hear from some folks that already have their units and are running them?  Early (LUCKY) owners of Z9's pls share.

Thank you!

Looks like the Z9 (Non-mini) will be about 30-40 KH/s or so.

According to the Bitmain tweet

https://twitter.com/JihanWu/status/1002814753469706245

So basically equivalent to about ~133 Radeon R9 280X.

Looks like the Nvidia people are going to be upset also.

I really don't understand what the big deal is, the power draw will probably also be 3-4x as well, likely the only difference will be the upfront price per kS/s.

But you know what, I know what I'm getting with the mini..  One is less noise!!  So my 3 mini's will do the same as 1 Z9.

/\ this.
