Looking to power 8 Cubes

What would be the best method without using Server PSU to power ?

Also on overclock mode, I have been looking at a 750W PSU that has a 6Pin PCIE splitter on the cable

But that means I would need 8 of them, any other more efficient way to powering 8 of them ?

I use a Corsair TX850 to power two.  Four of them should do the trick for 8 Cubes.  Alternatively, I am also running 3 Cubes with 2 Corsair CX750s.  Depending on how much space you have and the price of these PSU's at time of purchase, some combination of them might make sense.

I currently have 35 Cubes running with 7 TX850s and 14 CX750s.

35 cubes? holy f*ck, you can get out of the shower and step in front of them to dry off!

We're having a cold snap in our area but we have to keep a bunch of windows open just to hold the inside temp below 80F.  Also the air in the house is so dry my lips are in a perpetual chapped state.

I'm also using MinePeon and just wanted reiterate wedgy2k's comment about doing a git pull.  I had tons of problems with speed stability as well as bfgminer frequently dying before updating (bfgminer now reads 3.8.0).  I also couldn't get --load-balance or --balance to average better than 32 or 33 GH.  Now --balance is constant at 38+ GH (haven't retried --load-balance yet).

Did notice that my RPi is running about 5° higher now, but still under 50°.

And what's wrong with server supplies? For equivalent power and efficiency they're usually cheaper than ATX, just take a bit of tweaking.

Hi thanks for the reply, Sadly can't seem to find any suppliers in the UK for those power supplies Really needing to order some tomorrow and needing the best option as really looking to power 2 cubes per PSU but neeed to have all the right cables.

Your cube and pool server aren't in the same subnet, so 255.255.255.0 won't really work - might need to change the Cube's IP to 192.168.0.x subnet

mining_proxy.exe -o stratumpool -p stratumport -gp getworkport

stratumpool needs to be the URL for your pool's stratum node (us1.ghash.io or whatever)
stratumport needs to be the port they do stratum on (probably 3333?)
getworkport needs to match the Cube's "Pool Ports" setting; the proxy defaults to 8332 if you don't specify this option.

would there be a way to splice together two sets of pci-e wires from two PSU supplies? My little 380w antec from my HTPC  can start the cube very reliably for some reason, and it can even switch it into 'High' mode, problem is I start to notice an acrid burning electronics smell (i am assuming it the 5 yr old 380w PSU having a hard go of it and letting off a stink) 

If there was a way I could power it on into high mode using the antec380w unit and then power on the corsair gs800 once it's booted up. Then power off the antec. Could I some how wire them into parallel?  I have some cables coming that i ordered off of ebay.

I was going to use them for the capacitor trick, but since I have sent back that seasonic, i wont really have much of a use for them.

Honestly, not really sure. I know a lot of folks would say no because of voltage differences, but it really depends on how the supplies load-balance. I know with server supplies there's no issue putting several in parallel because that's what they were built to do; ATX might not be the case. But people do double up supplies for GPU rigs and stuff, that in a less direct way couples multiple 12V rails to the same level and it works. So I guess... it's worth a shot.

I'm having a weird problem... perhaps it's due to lack of power?

Low clock setting, I'm getting 31gh/s.  on the high setting, I'll get 32...  o.O

It's connected to a seasonic 1250w supply by itself and sitting in front of a fan that's blowing icy cold air at it.  Any suggestions?

How long have you left it running?
It took aprx 4 hours for mine on High to register the additional hashing on my RasPi (Stratum Proxy) and the pool (Eligius)
went from 32ish to 38ish.

I had it running for about an hour, but the breaker blew once my fridge turned on... no idea why living room and kitchen are wired together apartment wiring... ugh)

I just connected the cube to my room for use as my room heater, and will see how it goes.  The firmware must be slowly ramping up voltage, which is a good implementation (if it really is)

Nope, voltage is fixed at one of two discrete levels dependent on clock selection.

I use a a WRT54g router with custom firmware (dd-wrt).  Real easy to setup.  You can also flash dd-wrt on lots of different routers.

Does anybody have information on the thermal protection feature on the cube? The fan on mine fell apart while running. I have replaced the fan but I can't get the cube to start up again. When it powers up both green lights turn on, the red light blinks a few times and then only the top green stays lit. Can't get to the web interface.
Any ideas?

I can run Netflix over mine, so 4 cubes should be no problem.  Just follow instructions in link provided and you should be good to go.

Did you replace it with a three-wire fan? These guys need a tach signal to let them know they for sure have a fan running before they'll initialize fully.
