Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Not between the cube and the router. I do have two other mining devices.
One Prospero X-1 and R-box The R-box is connected to the same machine that runs the proxy and runs CGminer The prospero is also connected to the same router as the proxy machine and cube they run just fine.

What about between the router and the host computer? This type of error you're seeing was always caused by generic network topology issues. The solution is to keep moving things in the network about. OH, any android phones on wifi? Forgot about that gem.

I have no idea what the problem might be. I turned the wifi off on all the android phones in my network, and it still isn't working. It cant be the IP adresses otherwise the proxt wouldn't connect to the outside world.
For arguments sake move the netbook and er cube up to the original router and try.

Hey Dogie,
Great thread!! I was looking for info a few months ago on how to mine other coins with my cube but couldn't find anything and then just gave up and my cube has just been collecting dust ever since. A friend just sent me the link to this thread and I have been reading through the pages but there is so much to read so I thought I'd ask, hope you don't mind.
Any advice on how to configure my cube to mine another sha256 coin besides Bitcoin?
Regards Ricky

Hi Ricky, thanks for your kind words. There is no reason you can't mine other coins on the Cube. The way you'll go about this is to find a pool on the coin you want, and in the .bat file enter that pool's details. Other than that, the instructions from section 4 are identical.

One more question please. What do we do in a case where the pool mines straight to your wallet and uses a wallet address as a username? Like this>>> http://pool.digitalgold.co/

I can't get my screen shots to upload. Copy and past coming this way. I know that the Block Erupter Cube costs more than it produces. I just wanted to get it set up and hashing to learn the ways of the BitCoin. I have read the fourm/s on how to set it up and have watched every YouTube Video I could find and after 10 hours I still cant get it hashing. I have Factory rest the cube and could use someone to hold my hand to get this going. Be gentle guys and gals, I'm squishy and respond well to 'Breaking it down Barney style.'

Your gateway IP and primary DNS needs to be that of your router (192.168.1.253). I don't see that you've set up a proxy, but when you do the pool address on the Cube should be 192.168.1.2,192.168.1.2
I think you need to go through the instructions in the OP of this thread again.

I factory reset everything after I did this step including reinstalling windows because after this step was complete I was no longer able to access my router or the internet. This was the step, everything I did before this was fine and worked perfectly.
'On the cube config page, enter the server address the IP of the computer with the stratum proxy on. Enter it twice as the cube needs two pools to start mining, ie "192.168.1.102,192.168.1.102". If you are unsure what IP your computer is at, open cmd and type "ipcongif /all".'
Once doing this, internet dissapears. This happened once last night after trying to troubleshoot the cube after reading your reply and redoing all the steps. I factory reset Modem, router, Cube, and reinstalled windows. Then I went to bed. Woke up, got comp reconfigured, internet was back on. Everything was good to try again.
I went back to the guide and started the process over. When I got to the above step and set the IP to 192.168.1.102,192.168.1.102 and once I did that the internet went down again. I tried everything I could resetting the router, reinstalling the software, checking cables, and still could not get the net back up. Then I had to go to work. Which is where I am at now till 10pmish tonight. I was not joking about putting ten hours into this previously. I'm now up to twelve and hoping when I get home and am able to reconfigure my system I will be able to get the net up and running again.
I apologize that I am not more fluent in this area and only ask as that you please bear with me. Also know that I am determined to get this up and running even if it takes me 40+ hours. Thank you for your time and I will check back after work for your response.

You've entered it into the "IP" box, you need to enter that into the "pool addresses" boxes. I have no idea why that would stop your computer accessing your router or internet though. If you're coming from fresh everything the only things you need to change on the Cube's configuration page are [remove all quotation marks]: Gateway to "192.168.1.253" Primary to "192.168.1.253" Pool addresses to "192.168.1.102,192.168.1.102" - assumes your computer's IP has remained at .102 after you reset everything. It probably has. miner user:pass to "Gstaylo_Cube:1,Gstaylo_Cube:1" - assumes you sign up to Antpool with the username Gstaylo, change as required. Sign up for antpool https://account.bitmain.com/sign_upInstructions for the next step, which is the "mining proxy". You need to download the mining proxy, extract it to its own folder in program files and then create a .bat file on the desktop containing the pool settings in the white box. Taken from the instructions: "Cubes use the extinct getwork protocol and so we need to use a stratum proxy. Download the proxy and open the file. (this file https://mining.bitcoin.cz/media/download/mining_proxy.exe)" "create a .bat file in notepad (save as .bat). Move the stratum proxy (mining_proxy.exe) to the file location below and put the following text inside for your choice of pool [antpool]." "cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Proxy mining_proxy.exe -o stratum.antpool.com -p 3333" [remove the quotation marks] You then should, *should* be mining.

Thank you. What you have wrote here makes sense. When/If I can get the net back up I will try this after work. Also is 'antpool' belong to slush or some other pool? Are you recommending this personally or dose the cube have to be in 'antpool'?

Antpool is a different pool. If you're new to mining and just want to test things then the bigger the pool the better as its typically more stable and there is less variance in the earnings. Its not to do with it being a Cube.
