Move over Dogecoin, there's a new contender in town.

With the growing popularity and value of Bitcoin in the digital currency market, a new alternative currency has hit the crypto coin scene which has gained the same kind of momentum and attention that Dogecoin did before hitting the widespread media. This new currency, known as Catcoin, has surged in popularity in the last few days, gaining well in excess of 200 pages in the bitcointalk.org forums, one of the biggest crypto currency forums online.

As of writing, the thread has gained 235 pages in just 10 days. Comparing that to the official thread of Dogecoin, which has 454 pages and has been going for 23 days, it's easy to say that a new trend in Cryptocurrency is forming. Unlike Dogecoin, which has a high coin circulation and a lower difficulty level, Catcoin more closely resembles Bitcoin in terms of its overall mining difficulty and circulation, with a maximum of just 21 million coins compared to Dogecoin's astonishing 100 billion maximum. This lower coin availibility makes Catcoin considerably more valuable. At the time of writing one Catoincoin is over 200 times more valuable than a single Dogecoin, being valued at 0.001049 BTC per coin, compared to 0.00000058 BTC per Dogecoin. Cats being synonymous with internet memes and youtube has already meant many new catcoin meme images have been created since the coin's inception, all of which show the potential of Catcoin to find its way into the mainstream public interest just in the way Dogecoin did.

Comparing that to the official thread of Dogecoin, which has 454 pages and has been going for 23 days, it's easy to say that a new trend in Cryptocurrency is forming. Unlike Dogecoin, which has a high coin circulation and a lower difficulty level, Catcoin more closely resembles Bitcoin in terms of its overall mining difficulty and circulation, with a maximum of just 21 million coins compared to Dogecoin's astonishing 100 billion maximum. This lower coin availibility makes Catcoin considerably more valuable. At the time of writing one Catoincoin is over 200 times more valuable than a single Dogecoin, being valued at 0.001049 BTC per coin, compared to 0.00000058 BTC per Dogecoin. We have a problem with the network hash going down so much. Even though this does mean a lot less coins in circulation, a 15 minute block time is completely unacceptable when competing in an altcoin environment with lots of coins having <1min block times. In fact, it is the one thing about bitcoin that should not have been copied. The reward amount should have been kept the same but I think it should have been done as blocks of 5 coins with 1 minute block times instead of a straight copy of BTC. Nobody wants to trade a coin when 3 confirms will average 45 minutes.

As loathe as I am to say it (I am a heavy investor in CAT), unless something happens to really pump up publicity soon, we are about to reach the death spiral where no amount of publicity will help just because nobody is willing to trade a coin with massive confirmation times.

Well if youre with CRYPTSY DONT SELL you won't get your bTC in time to reinvest, been over an hour and a half since I should have got my 0.2 BTC from mine sold at 0.001 but instead it decieded not to show, now the prices are beginning to rise again, so thanks to cryptsy I have missed out big time, and might have been ripped off by them

And 33 BTC in BUYS between 8300 and 9400.

This is what coins do. They go up and down every day. This one will keep going up more and more every day.
It's still UP since yesterday. It was trading in the 70000s yesterday.

I just feel bad when people don't realize they are being played and there are people that will PUSH
the price down so they can make you sell if you don't understand. Then they buy all your coins cheap.
Then they push the price up higher than it was before and SELL. Then the push it down again.
There are bots doing this to you. And Whales with lot's of money. If you sell this and keep trying
to play against them you will lose. Better to hold for a week and come back. Otherwise you will get
pushed out or sell and have to buy back at 20% more. I've seen this happen with every single coin.

yawn.... back to 130000... off to eat.... I'll be back in a week when it's tripled.

I use coinedup. The site is a big sluggish, but I don't have to wait too long for my exchanges to go through. It's a smaller exchange, but I don't have that many Cat Coins to play with.

If you look at the trade history it was specifically driven down. 1 cat coin trades dropping the price each time. Eventually got down and un-knowing people or people just too dumb notice the price and traded out. Silly f##$$ers. Once I get my 10 btc transferred over from btc-e Ill be doing some work.

I don't think so. I worked from home today and saw it coming. Literally single cats being traded with a sliding price. Easy way to drive it down I guess.

CAT volume is approaching double Worldcoin's volume now. And is passing LOT shortly. Only 4% lower than LOT volume.
After LOT there is only QRK and DOGE... then LTC.
Not bad volume for New Years eve on day 2 of launch.

This was already stated exactly that way as an opening statement and you've already expressed that we're taking it one level further than doge. The rest of the last paragraph is really strong, I like it.

Thanks for the criticisms. I took the current coinedup value of catcoin, and divided it by the current coinedup value of dogecoin. That's how I arrived at the value. Did I get the calculation wrong? Thanks for the other suggestions. I'll work on re-writing a second draft of it tomorrow and I'll post it here, if it looks good to go I'll start emailing it out to blogsites.

Also the glaring fact that DOGE is a poor investment. With 50 BTC a day of coins being dumped by miners it's not going to let the price rise for at least 6 weeks at block
halving. Even after halving it's still 25 BTC a day dumped. DOGE has not gone up in a week or more. Only down.
CAT has only about 10 BTC of coins being made per day.
720,000,000 million doge dumped per day OR 9,000 CAT. You pick.

With 160-260 BTC of volume per day for CAT so far... where will people get their coins? Not from miners. They will have to buy them
from sellers. Where are the sellers? They are shrinking in supply as price rises.
