I completely agree. The project has a future, waiting for news, the coin must and will grow up

nobody replied though on the marketing roadmap. Technical one is clear, but I don't see any promotion being done, which is a pitty because this is one of the best coins out there, from a technical perspective. A real gem.

I know very well what skycoin is. I'm a rather early investor. What I'd like to know if there is any marketing planned or we are going to stay forever outside of top 100.

The price made x6 within 2 month. Why are you unhappy? Wink May be listing on Bittrex or Binance in the coming months will allow more people to learn about Skycoin.

Oh I got way more growth then that. I'm not concerned with that though, I'm concerned that due to lack of marketing SKY is falling into obscurity, while other shitcoins are raising in the ranks. Most people haven't heard about SKY, even though it's so old...

Yes. I love this coins but people need to learn about it. I don't think I've ever seen any ads or articles about it anywhere. Very sad indeed.

With this huge run up on past couple months I can't imagine that funds are lacking for advertising.

Yes, despite the fact that the project exists for a long time it is really little-known. But let the code speak! I'm sure that fame will come to the project, it's a matter of time. It is as inevitable as the fall of damn shit coins.

the code only speaks to developers, if they have time to look over it that is. All the fame and attention is captured right now by shitcoins that shout loud how good they are. Sometimes you also need to speak up instead of waiting forever to be noticed, because with all the charlatans around it might not happen

What's the transaction fees of skycoin ?

There are no fees as far as i am aware.
The coin uses "coin hours to send transactions".
Coin hours are generated every hour by holding skycoins.(You get 1 coinhour/H for every skycoin)

hello ^^
I ve just downloaded the sky wallet for windows 64. I succeeded in sending one sky to the wallet but I don't understand. Is there a private key or it is just linked with something else ?

I will send more of them if I someone can explain why it's safe ^^

Sorry I am a neophyte in online/paper/harware wallets.

Cheers

yes there is a private key.

It is very good that you are concerned about this. the most important thing about cryptocurrency is that people take their own responsibility.

Any "cryptocurrency" where it is possible to freeze or confiscate your coins must be avoided at all cost.

I am going to guesss that you think that because it does not require a password to open the wallet that there is no private key, this is not how it works.

the private key is what keeps an enemy from spending your coins. your coins remain on the blockchain and you must use the private key to authorize spending.

the password you are expecting is usually used to encrypt the file containing your private key.

with the current version of skycoin wallet you will need to encrypt the .wlt file manually or securely delete it from your system.

(do not delete your wallet file without writing down your recovery seed first)

follow this link to read the blog post about it. there is a link at the bottom of the article for a guide on how to encrypt your wallet.
https://blog.skycoin.net/statement/how-to-secure-your-skycoin-wallet/

try

Code:
CGO_ENABLED=0 go get github.com/skycoin/skycoin/...

Thanks a lot.
I was able to install and run the wallet.
The UI is very nice and simple I like it.

I have question about security.
The wallet does not require any password to open also I see
the .wlt file is a json file containing the seed and other data in plain text.

After wallet backup can I remove this file from the computer or delete the seed from it
or this file should be always present in
/home/$USER/.skycoin/
directory?

Never delete the seed. This is the most important concept - the private key is derived from the initial seed function.

Treat the seed as a private key.

Ok I understand that concept but my question was if I could make a backup of the seed and private key and remove it from the computer.
The seed is currently there in plain text so I was wondering if  there will be some kind of encryption available prevent  stealing like in bitcoin or litecoin wallets?

Yyea Please view the link above, i think it is alot more convenient to choose the manual encryption method with symlink.
alternateively you can access it from an encrypted virtual machine or if you are on linux you can use a command line argument to set the locateion of the wallet file to an encrypted container.

I'm trying to send some SKY and nothing happens when I click send and there is a red line at the bottom of the wallet and no message. What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to send x SKY and I have x in my wallet. I also tried to send 10 SKY and the same problem occurred.

You need to have some coin hours to spend coins to prevent spam.

You get coin hours automatically so just wait a short time and try again.

its also possible that you are not synchronized and make sure you are connecting properly.

There is nothing to do, just look at the network tab and make sure you are connected to a peer and look at the blockchain tab and make sure you have the latest block.

Btw. it is a good idea to be discreet about your crypto balances. you are the one responsible for your own security.
