newbie here. So it looks like the miner is working but I don't know how to setup so it goes to my account. By default it is set to user "aleks.2" I'm sure he won't mind the extra "hand".

Please help!

You'll need to create an account on a mining pool, vtcpool.co.uk, vtc.kilovolt.co.uk, or try one of the p2pools here http://scanner.etyd.org/.

The instructions are slightly different for the different pool types though each pool generally has decent instructions how to join them.

Just to reiterate to vtcpool.co.uk users who are seeing slow credits (or did earlier), the crons just ran again, and once again I am seeing tons of credits within seconds of the crons running. Please, anyone who can't see their shares showing up in their balance, make sure you've checked the "transactions" page, and if you are certain there really is a problem, PM or email contact@vtcpool.co.uk

I have to go out for an hour or two now, but I'll look into it as soon as I'm back if anyone is still not seeing credits appear quickly. I believe the problem was just high system load earlier today (which is now completely resolved) slowing down the updating of the balances, no coins were lost, they just took a bit longer to show up in your accounts.

I am happy to report that miners at VERTCOIN HEAVY INDUSTRIES now account for 10% of the network. As such I have closed registrations. Please consider p2pool or a smaller pool. Please do not pile into the next largest pool  Wink

finally here it is

vertminer-0.5.3 released

windows build: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5n70hj3izjj64y1/vertminer-0.5.3.zip
github source: https://github.com/Bufius/vertminer-gpu.git

release notes:
Code:
Version 0.5.3 - 2 February 2014
- changed automatic TC calculation (again but still not finished / perfect...)
- increased max intensity to 21
- shaders are now used for intensity calculation
--> option shaders is set: intensity calculation tries to align to shaders count (can increase performance but also decrease with low intensity)
--> shaders NOT set: old cgminer intensity calculation is used
- opencl changed to keep speed with adaptive nfactor
- introduced first time dependent nfactor changes in code (not finally done yet)
- fix for ADL with R9 cards

Important: the automatic TC calculation is only performed if you do not set TC manually and this is only an estimation what could be the best.
Manual tuning TC is in most cases the best you can do.

p2pool.vertcoin.org will go down for some maintainance soon. please make sure you got backup nodes in your verminer added. reason behind this is the huge & growing number of workers. downtime will be 30 minutes maximum.

Node is back up and running smoothly. Some clown removed the DNS without any notice (thank you for that!)...  Wink
New domain is: http://q30.qhor.net:9171/static/
P2Pool Scanner: http://q30.qhor.net:9172/

http://p2pool.vertcoin.org/ is currently pointing nowhere! Please update your miners!

does Pool Luck (24 Hour) matter when I choose which node I should mine apart from latency?
Small tip for others..I had lots of rejects and I have followed one tip and reduced my intensity from 20 to 19 and stales went down to 15% and I have reduced further to 18 and now i'm getting consisted 5-6% with only 10-11kh/s drop (450->439)...wil test more intensisites later Wink

is the miner update mandatory?

no

if you have no issues e.g. with R9 cards, there is no need to update

Updated from 0.5.2 to 0.5.3 and working fine. Hash rate has increased 10khs per card, R9280x.

What hasrate are you getting atm? I'm hashing for 350-355 per card.

i am mining with p2pool and not getting paid since 7 hours.

the pool recognizes the address, everything appears to be in order. (shares accepted, etc).

any ideas?

Make sure you have zero or near zero hardware errors. With Vertcoin expect to lower the thread concurrency compared to regular scrypt. At 15% stales that is higher than I would feel comfortable with, is there no p2pool with lower latency?

I'm getting paid in clusters. It will pause for a few hours then all of a sudden I'll get 4-5 transfers, etc. Not sure what's up but when I get home from work tonight I'll be setting up my own instance of the P2P pool.

Is this really that revolutionary? Bitcoin isn't ASIC-resistant but it still has a 10 billion market cap. I mean it's amazing in some sense, but I don't know if it will take off to hundreds of millions of dollars. Since no coins have even come close to Litecoin, as of yet, my estimate is that Vert could reach a 100 million market cap, if the technical basis really is absolutely favorable. I'm uneducated on analyzing every which facet of this asic-resistant scrypt coin, as of right now, either way. I still put in .8btc worth, at a fairly high price.

Support your favorite new cryptos. Trade at Cryptsy, the most well known clusterfuck of success.

any idea what are the best queue / scan-time / expiry settings for p2pool?

i am getting really poor performance with vertminer, compared with cgminer. i can run -g 2 with cgminer, while vertminer simply crashes.

Def clocks for this card are 1050 (1100 with built in boost) for CPU and 1400 for memory, I keep it at 1100/1500 CPU/MEM stable.

For 270x, I am getting around 234 KH/s on my Gigabyte 270x OC edition 2GB models.

to keep you informed

I will release a new vertminer-0.5.3 today when i am back at home (in ~3 hours).
Windows build is ready and i got feedback the R9 issues with crashes are solved.

Nice. I think I am not alone on this one.. Any performance improvements?

Sounds good..
Guys, can anyone tell me performance out of R290 and R290X ??
How about R270X? I am planning to buy some more HW so advice would be nice Smiley
Is also any difference between 2GB and 4GB version of 270X in terms of performance?

That is pretty nice out of R270X I think.. what are default clocks of your card and what do you use for stable mining?
