first vertcoin p2pool -> http://p2pool.vertco.in/

I was messing around with p2pool myself tonight. Just couldn't get the P2P connection to work though, I kept getting an "INVALID MESSAGESTART" in the vertcoin.debuf log when p2pool tried to connet to the p2p port. Did you have that problem? How did you work around it?

Lots of talk in #vertcoin on freenode about porting p2pool to VTC. Who would actually use this if we did it?

I was toying with the idea of setting up a public node for people to use as an alternate pool, if they didn't want to set it up themselves. Tried hacking it into place this evening as a stopgap until an actual p2pool patch is released, but couldn't quite get there in one evening. :/

Please check Vertcoin GPU miner for Windows http://www.vertcoin.org/downloads/vertminer-0.5.2.zip

If you save the settings, the verminer.conf contains a option "kernel", but if you load this saved configuration file, the option "kernel" is an error.

Hey can you explain coinedup?

As far as I can tell the only deposit option is bitcoin, and the only withdraw option is also bitcoin. If this is so, where do the altcoins find their way into the exchange to be traded with bitcoin?

Most importantly, if I want to trade bitcoin for say vtc, and withdraw my vtc back into myt own wallet and not leave it parked at this sketchy free exchange, how do I do that???

Thanks!

In case anyone is having trouble connecting (someone asked earlier today), here is the list of nodes that connected to me, merged with the list from the OP.  Only one was a duplicate.  I stripped off the port numbers, as they were from incoming connections or else were the default (:5889).  Also the man page says addnode takes an IP address, with no mention of port.

(netstat -an | grep :5889 | grep -v LISTEN | tr -s ' ' \\t | cut --field=5; cat vertcoin-nodelist | sed 's/addnode=//') | sort -t. -u --key=1,1n --key 2,2n --key 3,3n --key 4,4n | sed 's/^/addnode=/; s/:.*//' > vertcoin-nodelist2

Are you logged into CoinedUp? If you are, click the wallet tab on top and it will bring you to a page of tabs for all of the coins that are traded there. Click on the coin you want to deposit and your deposit address will show up. I have been using CoinedUp for over a month with no issues.

I honestly hope it takes a few weeks to get to crytpsy..  I want more time to mine at a lower diff Smiley

Yes, I don't get why everyone is in such a hurry to get every coin listed.

I'm not against having it listed somewhere..  This coin seemed like it was dying a slow death at one point, and the listing on coinedup really increased interest in it at just the right time.  But I'd prefer to keep it on the DL and let interest build gradually, because with the 3.5 day retarget time we might see a catcoin-style execution where a bunch of people mine the shit out of it, then when the difficulty goes up everyone jumps ship, leaving the coin to sit at 40 minute blocks for weeks on end.

This is also what I worried about.

THIS! Will hapeen for sure to every new coin that has long retarget time..Look at klondike for instance, same issue but devs implemented Kimoto Gravity well and it fixed the problem. To be honest, this coin has no chance to survive if diff retarget won't change to 1-10block.

Thank you for your suggestion, but Vertcoin is not a scrypt-clone coins that easily allows multipools targeting for mining. Btw, we think KGW is a good idea. If we want to implement the algorithm, absolutely our main point is not for preventing multipools. We just want to make it fair for every miners.

I just would like to say I have a strong feeling for this coin.
One day people will be forced to join gpu-minable asic-resistant coins, there are so many gpu rigs out there.
you had the balls to launch the coin and the environment around it, please take care and do the next steps carefully (community, exchanges etc), and who truly believes in this coin will be rewarded.

just one question, the total number of coins listed on coinmarketcap is correct? i did some simple math and looks like it's almost double what it should be.

I was not talking about multipools. 300-600Mh/s coming and going and diff retarget can go from 3,5days to 1-1,5 week. You can quote me on that Wink

I'm using CGwatcher, so jumping to another coin is just pressing START/STOP button (so I have different cgminer, config file etc. for each coin that I mine). So really, this doesn't make my life more difficult, just needed to find right settings before 1st mining session and I'm good to go.

Such long difficulty adjustment time is horrible. Multipools will kill it, but not today and not tomorrow, because multipools mining just plain old scrypt. We have a little time.

I would like to see alternate coin with this algo and faster diff adjustment time. Please someone PM me with estimate launch date Wink

This coin is an awesome one, really, but have something to improve.

Is this 0.3 USD price real?
