HOLD HOLD HOLD HOLD,  F'ING HOLD people.

I "STILL" think this coin is undervalued!  Greatly undervalued.

Its insanely hard to mine,
Extremely ASIC resistant
CPU Viable (slow but viable)
Nvidia Viable (not as slow, actually not bad!)
Zero Premine
Active devs that just introduced KGW into the formula making the coin even stronger.
Better coin-distribution than most other cryptos
The best/most fair launch I have ever witnessed that actually favored the 'little' miner.
This launch also included countless opportunities to buy in with BTC/LTC on coined up just a short time after release.

I think this coin is at $2.00 USD where bitcoin was at $20.00.    The question for me is not IF but when.

VTC is renewing interest and passion into crypto at a time when many professional miners ard investors are looking at the meme coins, and scrypt asics with a sour stomach and uncertainty about the future.   After hard fought battles to get Bitcoin into the realm of legitimacy in a world fixated on old ideas, and old methods.

MINE, HOLD and take care of your family later, as a reward for all this damn time we spend here obsessing over this crap.

I was only thinking of selling some in order to put together a mining rig in order to get more coins, but think i will now keep my coins and get the cash together another way. This is flying!

When I was mining BTC in 2010/2011.   Everytime I sold BTC to buy more equipment I lost in the end.   I paid 56 BTC to buy 7gh's Jalepenos.       Think about that.

UPDATE FOR POOL OWNERS

I modded the script so it automatically anounces on your pools MOTD that registrations have been closed temporarily, and why.

http://pastebin.com/ZGjD3HXu

Put this in your scripts folder in MPOS as 51_percent_check.php owned by root:root and chmod'd 755 then "sudo crontab -e" and add a line:

* * * * * php /var/www/MPOS/scripts/51_percent_check.php

Now your pool will automatically close and reopen registrations depending on your share of the network hashrate, no more having to keep checking on it!

Also, add a line to /var/www/MPOS/.gitignore like:

/scripts/51_percent_check.php

So that git won't pull down updates over the top of it, with the original version (which doesn't update the MOTD, and only closes reg once you've already 51%'d the network)

Someone better at php (and more patient Wink might want to improve it by building in some hysteresis so it doesn't keep closing/reopening every minute when it's right around 40% Huh If you do, please post it, I'd like to do that but I don't have the time to hack that together right now, but this ought to at least do the job in a quick and dirty way.

Thanks for your comments guys, i agree, i can see this going up up and away! I just wanted to get a rig (my poor cpu's) are getting hammered, and my bitcoin asic rig is just an expensive room heater, so will take your advice, hold what i have and get funds another way for a gpu rig. As it's something i would like to be a part of!

VTC has a huge potential for growth. In a matter of several months the cryptocoin market will be oversaturated with scrypt ASICs. All graphics cards will become useless for mining any standard scrypt coin. This great unleashed computational power would have to be applied somewhere. So the demand will be for a hash algorithm which goes well on graphics cards and still is ASIC-resistant. An algorithm used in VTC is not standard scrypt (2048 vs 1024 for the cost parameter), so it will be impossible to apply ASICs to VTC at least in the near future. So, the VTC network difficulty as well as the total number of miners will increase significantly. Mining any single VTC will become a hard task, so the value of every coin will skyrocket.

Do not rush to sell your coins guys. VTC excange rate will increase manyfold in a matter of months, IMHO.

In the cryptocoin world a coin philosophy is everything. Good philosophy + right time = success. Scrypt ASISc are coming. Graphics cards will become useless for script mining. But graphics cards must be working. VTC is the solutions. More miners ->  harder to get a coin -> its value raises.

Yes i dumped so soon. Loss around 250 BTC this month in doge, moon, vtc, kitteh, billion and vel.

VTC and CACH share the same idea anti-asic , both are scrypt-jane and have great devs. I think i will keep CACH.

Yes but still a type of scrypt-jane. CACHE is same ideas too, but its dev doesn't call it scrypt-adaptive-nfactor.

No need to dump all, people swing from one extreme to the other.     I think you are overstating asic, it cannot as easily ramp up like it did with btc but having a special client to mine probably does count more in favour

Hi,

While you're technically correct in your definition, by that same logic you can call every single coin on the market scrypt-jane.

Here is some nice reading I've bookmarked:

https://github.com/floodyberry/scrypt-jane
www.tarsnap.com/scrypt/scrypt.pdf
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-256

The variable 'n' factor is actually called in the scrypt function, not the sha/blake/skein/keccak pudding that you would see in scrypt jane. To make this short, this coin is scrypt, with a variable n factor.

Hi everybody, sorry for my manners but I am going to write this very quick before I loose the train of thought (just lost a lot of time in the registration and gotta go back to buy as much VTC i can).  It occurred to me that since this coin y paying me much more than any other stock I can buy and since it was a very fair launch, we need to give back  to the developer and treat him as our CEO in this way:

Let's open 2 wAllets, 1 for our CEO(Vertcoin creator) salary and another one for VTC promotion and hiring people that can really contribute to this coin.  Every month you decide how much you want to send depending on your judgement in long term performance.
I understand people's mind and the developer(clearly an INTP) usually fails to enjoy retribution from their creation's.  In my opinion he clearly deserve's it and by doing this, we guarantee that Vertcoin has all the means to become the next Litecoin and create a whole new field.

Cheers!
