I'm bullish medium term/long on vertcoin but seeing as there are dozens of people trying to sell their VTC at Cryptsy who aren't able to due to Cryptsy being crap means that the price right now is being held up by artificial scarcity.  What happens when Cryptsy fixes their VTC deposits and all these sellers are suddenly able to sell?

this is asic.
man

Yes you are correct, someone designed, taped out, fabbed and began producing an N=2048 ASIC in the past month, something which I suspect $100M couldn't achieve.

Either that or they bought a couple of hundred Gs worth of commonly available computer hardware and stuck them in a warehouse.

No, no, it must be the ASIC.

A typical CPU does about 1KH/s on VTC. Botnets don't have GPUs (not enough compromised computers have them, the drivers or opencl aren't installed etc. etc. etc.)

Botnet operators aren't dumb enough to load peoples PCs 100% so they notice the infection. They would limit CPU usage to maybe ~30% to hide it. So say 300 H/s per infected machine.

120MH / 300H/s = 400,000 infected machines.

I doubt it. I think it's someone with a lot of GPUs.

One of the longest running, most trusted VTC pools around

P2Pool (recommended) and traditional pool available for VTC

P2Pool: http://vtcpool.co.uk:9171
Traditional MPOS pool: https://vtcpool.co.uk

P2Pool setup guide and FAQ

Why use p2pool?

  • Mined coins are deposited directly in your wallet in the generation payment for the block,
they are never held by a pool wallet and can't be lost due to failures or hacking/thefts
  • Even if the node you connect to fails, you don't lose the coins you mined - your shares are distributed on the network
  • Distributed (less vulnerable to DoS attacks, less chance of big pools having enough hashrate to be capable of a 51% attack)
  • Private (you are paid with coinbase transactions and your public key is never seen on the network until you spend the funds)

Feel free to use https://vtcpool.co.uk if you prefer a traditional pool. Especially, users with lower hashrates may find earnings
are better on the traditional pool. There is room for a mixture of pool types, but please help further strengthen the decentralisation
of Vertcoin by using p2pool if it works well for you.

To mine on p2pool, use your VTC address as username, and any password, so your command line should be like:

vertminer -o stratum+tcp://vtcpool.co.uk:9171 -u Vw44xQPqgwbqZVpRzPoHe6M4jAGYceiZZP -p x

Please follow the advice in the P2Pool setup guide and FAQ about setting your minimum
share difficulty - this will prevent HW errors and stales and improve your mining income.

There are troyans used to point miners using the GPUs at low rate.

Even though i lost a lot of VTC personally i won't be stopping trying to promote this.
I've contacted a few big web developers who whould be able to create a Full-sized vertcoin platform. Including real security, fast transactions (not those extremely long deposits on cryptsy), exhange directly to fiat, forums,
Integrated casino, escrow services and maye even an Ebay like marketplace to trade goods directly for vertcoin.

Ofcourse developping such a website can't happen for free and that's why i'd like to ask you guys, is our community ready for a Full-sized VTC platform?

All good but please for the love of vert do not integrate a casino.

Also start vertcoinstarter and set yourself up a page i will throw in on your lost coin as i know you are legit.

Think that was all

Oh leave bitcrush now can we just get them to lock the door at 35 or so from now on? Does them no good to push the limit either.

Ofcourse the community can decide on what would be on the the page and what not, the casino was just a suggestion Smiley

Could you tell be where i can start vertcoinstarter? I'll be more than willing to prove my intentions are legit.
And guys, please follow me on @altcoinwatcher and retweet my tweets to get the word out Smiley

20-30% computers on botnet have gpu useful for mining

If the price does fall, it's only because those sending their VTC to cryptsy are going crazy, and once they'll finally be able to sell, theyll accept "any" of the current  buy prices because they want to get over with it. Otherwise it'll keep rising imho

price was 0.015 or even more some hours ago, then dumped to 0.008, now raising/stabilize at 0.009 - 0.01.

Exactly. I'm just trying to put water in my wine, cause I'm extremely optimistic and I don't like that :p

Is there anything stopping other scrypt coins from implementing Adaptive N-Factor and thus diminishing the appeal of vertcoin?

I had a look into the Blockexplorer zo check how much coins are generated and how good KWD works.

There are around 30-35 Block / h = Blocktime of around 110 seconds
Estimated is 150 seconds

So there are more coins than expected, but i thzink a much better result than without KWD

I did not have a look to LTC but maybe somedidy has the currecnt blocktime of LTC

The big miners surly switching now to VTC and they will grab most of the coins but the can´t milk VTC as seen
on a lot of other coins.
