The thing is, if the community doesn't want ASICS, they will never mine successfully for long. Sorry, but you might have a bit naive thinking here. You are not going to change the algorithm just because you don't like ASICs and want to "save" hobby mining. That would destroy trust in your coin.

Dafar,
Sorry but I don't understand your reasoning there... *If* it will surpass LTC then get in?
If that's the case your not going to stop it by calling it an enemy... And I seriously doubt your luck has any influence on what the coin does. People messing with it op Cryptsy have a larger effect IMO.
It just went up 1000%... if i get in now i'm pretty sure it will crash 50%, just like every simgle alt coin i get into. I just decided to save the remaining btc I have left. I went from 17btc to 7 thanks to my crappy investment decisions in alt coins. Now that LTC is about to die I'm even more fucked. Im superstitious and I honestly believe I have terrible luck with money

Sorry guys, I dont like this coin I feel like it will tank LTC which will make me lose a lot of money It may surpass BTC which might also devalue BTC and thus make me lose money The train has already left for me to get in... If i buy now I know the price will crash because that is my luck I see this coin as an enemy +1 I do not know the future of course but I would not be surprised if they all moved together to new highs. we can all get along. The market is still very very small.

Price tanking, panic selling and dumpers. Buy fear sell cheer, #1 rule of trading. Right now is the best time to buy. We are at a 75% haircut from yesterdays high where most of the high volume trades occurred.. This is a low volume walk down to instill a panic sell and load up on your cheap coins, don't give in, I for one and buying small amounts little by little.

I can't find the post in this long thread, but whoever suggested to me to copy the ADL_SDK files to from cgminer to vertminer before running ./buildit.sh in BAMT was right! The steps posted somewhere in this thread to "hack BAMT" had this step coming after you build it but it must come before or else you won't ahve any control over the temperature (target, overheat, cutoff) or the fan speeds (besides auto) Here are the original steps: but you want to have the contents of ADL_SDK in your vertminer's ADL_SDK folder BEFORE running ./buildit.sh so instead do this: git clone https://github.com/Bufius/vertminer-gpu.git /tmp/vertminer cd /tmp/vertminer cp /opt/miners/cgminer/ADL_SDK/* /opt/miners/vertminer/ADL_SDK/ ./buildit.sh cp -R /tmp/vertminer /opt/miners/vertminer
I now have vertminer showing my fan settings and temperatures and they appear to be working as per my .conf settings! Another tip: if you switch between scrypt mining and vert mining and you don't want to wreck your configuration, create a vertminer.conf file in the same place as your cgminer.conf file (should be /etc/bamt/) and then edit the bamt.conf file in the same location, around line 109 with this: cgminer_opts: --api-listen --config /etc/bamt/vertminer.conf #cgminer_opts: --api-listen --config /etc/bamt/cgminer.conf This will save the line of code that points your miner to the cgminer.conf file and switch it to the vertminer.conf file. If you want to switch back to scrypt mining with your bamt installation, just swap the "#" at the start of the second line to the first line.

It would be great if someone could update Vertmine GPU miner with this version of cgminer: http://k-dev.net/cgminer/The most usefull feature is that You can set clocks like 1500:1250 it meant that it apply overclock for mining, but once You stop mining it restore clock to defaults (set after ":")..This way a lot of peple would avoid crashes when entering from 3d to 2d mode while undervolting/overvolting/overclocking etc...

If i buy now I know the price will crash because that is my luck I see this coin as an enemy Go long all three and cash. If you have a stash of LTC and BTC, sell some of them and buy VTC. Make it a part of your portfolio. Consider something like this: 25% BTC 25% LTC 25% VTC 25% USD These are just like stocks, but more volatile. Rebalance when one or more hits 15% or 35% of total allocation. Now you don't have to use any emotions to set buy and sell points.

It's up right now? It is being moved to a (very expensive) redundant dedicated hosting solution in the next few days to improve resilience to the DDoS attacks we've been subjected to. The pool is up right now though!

Can anyone shed any light on how to safely store VTC for the long term? Since VTC is so new, any wallet research I can find for things such as brainwallet.org does not list VTC yet among their coin options for creating wallet address with phrases. One tutorial I saw on youtube seemed very solid, and utilized the idea of booting your computer from disc or USB using Ubuntu as a temp OS in order to create your wallet and security info- so that computer and internet were removed from the equation. (but I think it was only for BTC) Other than backing up my VTC client wallet to USB, and also encrypting with a pass phrase- that is all I can see so far. Not a big concern now, but it could be an issue down the line since I plan to sit on my mining efforts for the long haul. Please let me know what anyone else out there is doing regarding security- I have only been in the mining game for about 6 weeks!
http://paperwallet.vertcoin.orgDon't use it live on the site - download the zip from the github (linked from the live version), and run it on an offline PC.

Come join us on P2Pool! Pick one of the available public nodes close to your location here or start your own node if you want: https://github.com/donSchoe/p2pool-vtcP2Pool is a distributed peer-to-peer pool, all nodes work together and the block rewards are shared based on the amount of shares submitted by each worker on every node on the network! Payouts are sent directly to your wallet once a block is found. You can read more at the p2pool wiki. Most of the usual questions and doubts about p2pool are addressed in this thread: A guide for mining efficiently on P2Pool, includes FUD repellent and FAQJoin the fight against centralization! P2Pool's percentage of the network has been shrinking more and more with most new users going to the largest regular pools, we need YOU! Find yourself asking the question "when will I get paid?" or if your hashrate is enough for p2pool? Try this page to get an estimate, just borrow the share difficulty etc values from any node listed on the node scanner. why are payments on p2p so sporadic? i can't stay on the payout list for longer than a few blocks. i am getting around 600Kh/s total with 6870 and 290x.

Looking at graphs on my p2pools, you should expect to find shares about every 6 hours. The shares are only good for about 3 blocks (at least, that's the target in the config files). You should find that your average total earnings will be what they are supposed to be for your hash rate. It's the nature of how p2pool works that you'll get a few big payments a day instead of a lot of small payments, for your current hash power.

Azure Vertcoin Pool - DDOS reisistant P2Pool Nodehttp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171/To connect to this P2Pool node simply point your miner at:URL: stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171Username: Your vertcoin address Password: Anything Sample configurationcgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171 -u VbNPoxNeiNg6Bj9RwjjS4GazDbKLgUqNDP -p XFast facts1. P2Pool nodes are all part of one single, big, distributed pool 2. When any p2pool worker on any node finds a block, everyone on all the nodes gets paid their share 3. There is no pool wallet, and hence no payout threshold. Payments go directly to your wallet 4. Cryptsy is trading such a low volume of coins right now that someone with a few BTC could shift the price +/- 20%
Looks like most people are holding and those either inexperienced or are trying to manipulate the rate are trading.
Take a look at the volume since the last dump. It's tiny.
I've had about enough of Cryptsy. I thought it would add to the value of VTC not screw with it.
worst thing that could have happened to this coin (with hindsight)
