There is no such “any specific best time” kind of thing to sell your cryptocurrency holdings. It totally depends on you. You can keep them for long term if you think that particular Altcoin has the potential of growing in future. But be careful, crypto market is highly volatile so the price can fall anytime. So it ok to earn small profits but if you are willing to take risk, go for long term, at least for a year. But only with coins you trust. They can be really rewarding any coin which are actually working on their platform.

The thing you did was right, but a little advice from me is better to hold altcoin within 1-2 months until the altcoin price to the moon. It's the right time to sell your altcoin, but not all altcoins have a good price. So, first consider if you want to hold altcoin.

Its really good if you can buy them at ICO price then wait for the pump before offloading them. Based on my experience, I was able to sell them at the right time although I sold, the price continues to soar but at least I have already made lots of profit and I don't want to be greedy plus my exit strategy was satisfied that's why its time to sell them. So if you have altcoins get them while they are cheap (pre-Sale or ICO price), wait till they are listed on an exchange, then wait for the pump, offload as soon as you exit plan is met. Rinse and Repeat.

I totally agreed to what you said about holding and not selling of altcoin like ETH but I believed XRP is also another altcoin which people ought for long because ETH and XRP seems to be the coin which Amazon could accept as payment if they're indeed going to use cryptocurrency. Secondly, I believe people can sell his/her altcoin anytime as long he/she is not selling at lost price.

I search first if my altcoins were good to hold for long term or if I can gain more profit if I trade it for just few days, it depends on the growth of my holdings but usually im investing to hodl for long term because its more convenient for me.
