I bought a nice silver 10 btc from DT & he kindly offered to let me take it & pay later solely on the strength of my forum ID, I also bought 10 single coins & paid for them instantly in coins using the seller's laptop & my Yubi keys - just so easy & efficient.

This was the pub right next door to where I was staying, hmmm Undecided

There was also a jolly ship theme on all the carpets right throughout the conference venue Shocked

Hi, many thanks & for the coins, I tried again to get on OTC & this time got as far as installing the GPG tool & creating a key but then it says send key failed, error = 0 & I can't send it to keyserver either, I just have the sec line & not uid or sub so I don't think that I can use it, the info on it shows the Key ID & Fingerprint which I guess is the public & private key but I think I will have to try again with someone who can walk me through it in person. I allowed it to connect with everything it asked for on my Mac but am a tech newb.

Edit: It may be not working because I have 2FA on my gmail & haven't set that up to be working with the mail app, in the past it failed & was a pain to try & find out how to get that working again.

Edit 2: OK I managed to get 2FA working for my mail & have been able to send an encrypted & signed email with my PGP key which I've registered on OTC with my IRC nick: Otoh - but I haven't worked out how to list things yet & not sure if I registered correctly as yet.

Edit 3: OK finally I think that I got registered correctly & can now list stuff & buy etc: http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=Otoh

On IRC, in any channel that has gribble, when you're identified, say ";;rate username value comment".

That's quite a beautiful collection.

Some day my coin collector buddies are going to wonder why they didn't act on my recommendation to grab a couple of these while they are still:

a.) using "early coins" (funded with transactions in 2011 and 2012)
and
b.) still being made (e.g., Rev 1 of the One BTC coins are either done or near done being produced, as far as I know -- or at least of a limited quantity for a "key date"/first release.)

Revision 1 is since a few days ago (today?) no longer for sale on casascius.com.

The coins shown in the picture are for sale. I live in the Netherlands. The Revision 1 coins, as collectibles, are for sale at 1.9 Bitcoins per casascius coin. I can probably send to other places in Europe but have little experience with pricing, customs (?), etc.

Contact me for details, if you're interested Smiley

Whilst at the BTC Conf in London last month I tried to interest one of the oldest coin auction houses there that I've been a client of for a long time in putting some of these in a sale, like a full series from the 1,000 BTC 1 Oz gold coin downwards but they didn't see any of their collectors probably being interested atm, I expect though that in the future early mint Casascius complete series sets could be quite sort after.

Great photo, looks fantastic.  Physical shiny discs definitely stir the hoarding/collecting hormones much more than bits on a hard drive.

By and large, I am presently sending more physical bitcoins to Finland than anywhere else in the world.  Very interesting!

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.
