Hi all,

After I read some troll here badmouth darksend mixing, I decided to finally "hit the button" and see what happens. It works! I tried two rounds with 100 Dash, and after a few hours it completed (it stopped at 99.9 Dash for some reason). I then went back and added another round, and again, it just worked. It's kind of addicting mixing coins.

My question is this: if I used three rounds, and each round employs three other users, when I spend these coins, anyone looking at the blockchain can only know the coins originated from one of 64 possible users (four to the power of three). Is that right? Thanks.

Hey.... Wait a minute... Where the hell are our trolls?   Cry

I think the report button is doing a mighty fine job, really enjoying the break from their constant drone Smiley

Welcome Smiley I think that's right, not sure if it's -1 each round from your own participation but it's close iirc. There are a few concerns over the possibility of tracing from low participation numbers but it gets ridiculously low after about 8 rounds or so and mixing by default is planned to be implemented at some stage so it's not an issue after that as anyone running a client is... ensuring fungibility Smiley

Anybody know if a merchant accepting crypto transactions requires PCI Compliance?  Looks like to accepting credit cards it is required.

http://www.pcicomplianceguide.org/
That is a payment card security standard. There is no reason why a merchant accepting any digital currency would need PCI compliance... they aren't handling any sensitive data (it is all on the blockchain anyway, so nothing to protect).

Welcome to 15 Mill
http://coinmarketcap.com

DASH - once called DarkCoin - during it's 1st BIG peak hit 38 Mil, I do believe
but we only had 4 Mil in coins
For DASH to achieve the same level in market cap., we'd need to hit 57 Mil in market cap. with 6 Mil coins today

just sayin but - overall - lookin good :-D

Thanks.  Yet another reason for merchants to accept Dash.  No credit card % fees, no credit card per transaction fee, no pci compliance, no monthly charges for the credit card machine, no chargebacks, no handling of cash and getting $1/coins for change.

Dash at LaBitConf 2015 in Mexico. [My unofficial video-interpretation]

Starring:
Evan Duffield, Gabriel Kurman, Erik Voorhees, and Andreas Antonopoulos.

I just want to compare the DASH video effort above to other coin's efforts at outreach.  Not to pick on anyone (OK, maybe), but here is another attempt.  Be sure to watch at least the first 3 minutes.  Pure comedy gold.

Oh man that was painful.  I got dizzy with the camera constantly switching and annoyed with the audio cutting out and background noises for people that didn't put themselves on mute.  There is no reason for this!

Ok that was pretty funny.  But let's not say we are awesome because others are ...."not even close to awesome"...  We need to compare ourselves to a full production movie or something way above our investment level so we can get better.

i do not think we have the staff for that yet.

i think we stick to our plan for now
and consider this in the future maybe

Yes, the reason for multiple rounds is so that it's less likely that you hit a malicious masternode, keeping tabs on you but also, so that, if you spend your coins in clumps together, and they can then be traced to you, you could only follow that back to the last round you did, then it's all mush again.  Thus, you're safe from other participant's spending, and they're safe from yours Smiley

Hey.... Wait a minute... Where the hell are our trolls?   Cry

I'm viewing them as members of our community.  They forced DASH to become better by harping on flaws.

They may be clowns, but they will always have a fond place in my heart.

Come back trolls!!!

Either you're on some kind of newfangled drug that I want, or you've found religion, LOL.  You used to get sooooooooooooooo angry, I was worried about your blood pressure, remember?  LOL

::hugs::

Well, absence makes the heart grow fonder.  Smiley

Hey, fellow krypto hoomernz! (Sorry, I'm not the replacement troll.)

I'm checkin' out https://www.bitebi9.com. There's a DASH/CNY pair there, but it's not listed among the exchanges under your Coinmarketcap entry.

Anyone using it? [Tee hee . . . looks exactly like Cryptsy!]

This is Cryptsy fallen through a crack in time from the future  Grin
And I correct in thinking that exchanges have their own proprietary code and do not let anyone see it?
otherwise if people saw the price plotting code they could manipulate the market price easier.

Although, Cryptsy do operate as a francise so they must have hired out the interface, do you think the withdrawal problems are included in the package deal or do they come extra?

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release.
Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5%
Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1)  = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update

It looks like it has legs, like others that have already replied, I will have to check it out.

I don't think I like this idea at all as I'm not sure how well a facebook metaphor sits with a money-wallet metaphor. They may be oil and water.

It feels kind of weird having 'friend' references (a social 'outreach' function) inside your wallet (a 'security') function.

I think the presentation needs to be very different to avoid it looking like a social tool. That doesn't preclude the pursuit of the 'social wallet', it just implements it with financial and security priorities, not social media ones. A regular online banking interface does have aliases for payee bank accounts but they are presented in a very different way, i.e. very soberly as part of the payments function of the wallet. Then you need card readers and all sorts to actually make use of it. The emphasis is keeping money IN your wallet, whereas the emphasis of the Facebook metaphor is making it easy to flow OUT. Not necessarily a good thing in a money-management tool and many will just run a mile from it.

I think this needs a whole lot more thought than just throwing together a few metaphors from social media tools. It's a brand new concept and needs its own approach where each priority (monetary security, social media security, convenience and general appeal) needs to be thought through and implemented independently so they are not in conflict.

IMO a much better approach for integrating social media and peer to peer payments is by building a facebook plugin that just lets people make payments from their regular social media tools if they want to.

I think a wallet should be a wallet and be unambiguously built with security priorities, otherwise it just looks unprofessional and crass - something made for 12 year old kids.

(P.S. "Chat" + "Wallet" = Absolute No-no & disaster waiting to happen IMHO. You don't want to be chatting while performing critical payment operations and people have a gazillion chat tools that they'd rather use anyway. I would "g.t.t.f. off it  Wink  )

I think there should be a focus on implementing certain social media exspects into the wallet as that will gain mainstraim adoption far more easy. I also think future develepment of blockchain technology will focus in time also on social media and how to integrate that into blockchain technology. I even think Dash Evolution itself is also going that direction with the third tier approach and the ability to interact with users far more easy by exchanging public keys and sending tokens (fiat or crypto) directly between users with the click of a button. We just need to figure out what media exspects are important and convert the wallet towards a Dash regnoniceable wallet.

But think: what is the number one barrier to adoption in bitcoin ?

It isn't convenience, it's security. Ask any potential adopter what they think of bitcoin and the first think they'll mention is MtGox. They won't be complaining about the lack of a social media tool integrated in their wallet. They WANT it to be difficult to pay someone, not easy because that enhances their sense of security.

Facebook plugin for social media IMO. Wallets are wallets.

Even when i do internet banking these days they have implemented a message / chat system that let me contact my bank directly.
Lets face it, blockchain techn and the use of digital wallets will be subject to a lot of innovation the next decade. Lets just keep an open mind, no reason why security (on blockchain and wallet level) and social media / social contacts / social messaging can not go together. Whether you want to use it is something else entirely (i never use facebook but appearently millions of ppl do)
