If this project is approved, Deginner will ensure it is deployed on at least one network of BTMs, starting with the one in Panama City, Panama.

Dear Mr Super Pokemon,

Could you please expand on this.

How many networks are there?
Is the promise of deploying to at least one network simply down to live testing before deploying to the rest and if not, why not.

Thanks.

I suggest going to dashtalk.org, Ira Miller from Deginner is answering questions there.

From https://github.com/deginner/DashLamassuProposal :-

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dash Lamassu Integration

Dash desires to exchange local cash with Dash tokens using the Lamassu BTM.

Requirements

Enable a Lamassu BTM to be software-upgraded to buy and sell Dash side-by-side with Bitcoin.
Lamassu operators can enable/disable Dash from the admin site.
If enabled, a new screen to choose currency will appear before the buy/sell lander, and other 'BTC' reference in the UI will be changed.
If disabled, the default Lamassu UI has to be exactly as before.
A complete plugin set (ticker, trade, and wallet) will be created for Dash
Ticker will stream the Dash price from the exchange of choice.
Trade will convert to Dash as the user buys, using the exchange of choice. (Chain fiat->BTC->Dash if necessary)
Wallet will plug in to Dashd via RPC for use as a hot wallet. (or wallet API if preferred)
Easy to use installation and deployment instructions will be provided.
The code has to be maintained, with a 2 year guarantee of functionality.

BTM Overview

Deliverables

Plugins

The ticker, wallet, and trader plugins will be delivered as JavaScript and will include tests for achieving 100% code coverage. The timely delivery of these assume that a stable API for ticker usage exists, as well a RPC or similar interface for wallet operations, and a stable Dash exchange for testing the trader is present.

Lamassu admin

lamassu-admin will be delivered as a fork in order to list the new plugins and also to add a new option for installing a different initial screen. Initially, operators will need to install this version in place of the official one if they desire to use this new functionally. We're coordinating with Lamassu so the list of new plugins is included on their own release, as well this new option. When such release happens, then operators will no longer need to install this forked version.

Lamassu machine

lamassu-machine will be delivered as a fork under the conditions mentioned for lamassu-admin. This repository needs to be updated in order to 1) remove the interface restrictions that limit it to 'BTC' and 2) display a different initial optional screen that allows user to select between BTC and Dash.

Estimates

Item   Days
Plugins   7.5 (2.5 for each one)
Admin   3
Machine   9
Installer   1
Total: 20.5 days

Work can begin immediately upon receiving the initial payment and a proof of concept transaction on a live machine could be as soon as 4 weeks later. A more conservative estimate to allow for quality assurance is 8 weeks.

About Deginner

Deginner was founded in early 2015 by former Coinapult CEO and CTO, isysd and g-p-g. The Deginner team has built many cryptocurrency services and apps in the past, and now focuses entirely on open source tools. They developed the lamassu-coinapult trade, wallet, and ticker plugins, and have good relationships with the Lamassu team, as well as many of their operators. If this project is approved, Deginner will ensure it is deployed on at least one network of BTMs, starting with the one in Panama City, Panama.

The beginnings of a proposal HOWTO:

I've spend a couple evenings fleshing out the Proposal section outlining the procedure and best practices for creating DDGB budget proposals.
Voting and Budget sections will follow.

Those interested, please take a look and let me know if you have any suggestions.  moocowmoo@dash.org

https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/display/DOC/Using+Decentralized+Governance%3A+Proposals%2C+Voting%2C+and+Budgets

Thanks!

Also, since it's voting time again, another shameless plug:

to vote with (linux only) dashvote, have your dash-cli and masternode.conf in ~/.dash and do:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/moocowmoo/dashman.git
dashman/dashman vote

You'll be prompted to install any missing dependencies if needed.
dashvote randomizes your vote timestamps to prevent ownership analysis
(vote-many doesn't do this, yet)

dashman vote

Moocowmoo can you please explain how to use dashman to vote for multiple MN?

I assume it must be done on the cold-wallet machine that you would normally "start-many" from.  I'm pretty paranoid about installing ANYTHING other than QT on my cold wallet machine, since the current MN start protocol still requires private keys to be stored directly on a networked computer. However, MN voting appears to be marginally less risky since the wallet passphrase is not required, so I might be amenable to try dashman on the cold wallet machine for multiple MN voting.

Alternatively, could there be a (safe) way to, on a single hot node, create a conf using multiple masternode genkeys to link them and issue the vote command from there?

You don't need fund-controlling keys to vote, you only need the masternodeprivkeys contained within your masternode.conf file. You can move it to any wallet and use that wallet to vote.
(to clarify, the masternodeprivkeys within masternode.conf don't control funds, only identity, hence votes)

In fact, the same holds true for issuing start-many -- which I recommend against due to the timestamps being all set the same, the whole reason I made dashvote.

So, just startup any old dashd (funds not required) and place your masternode.conf and dash-cli in your $HOME/.dash folder. Add ~/.dash to your path by running "export PATH=~/.dash:$PATH" and then you can run dashman to vote. Smiley

Let me know if you have any questions!

Had to release a bugfix for dashman. Somebody changed the downloads page from absolute to relative links.

Users will be prompted to update on their next command, but the bug only affects installs and re-installs (downloads of the tarball from dash.org)

changelog:
Code:
0.1.16 -  Tue Dec 29 05:41:43 2015 +0000

bugfix - support dash.org downloads page shift to relative pathing

thanks to gusterdd for the notify!
