It could take a few hours on dashninja.pl to catch up but if masternode list addr | grep -e SERVER_IP shows "ENABLED" your good to go.

After start from cold, issue this './dash-cli masternode debug' on hot side and check if it says "masternode successfully started". Then you'r good to go Wink

What's this I'm seeing on my masternodes:

./dashd getinfo

"Dashd no longer has RPC functionality, use dash-cli instead."

Can somebody write up a new guide for masternodes with all the V12 changes?

Not much. Try ./dash-cli for your RPC's

In your case, try this command:

./dash-cli getinfo

Masternode Operators do not "buy" software to generate them revenue. They're rewarded for a service. It is expected they take proper measures to insure the network is maintained.

Fair enough. But in that case, I suggest everyone have very reasonable expectations about the speed with which the network will update. I don't recall ever seeing such a small percentage of masternodes updated after this many days. Usually enforcement goes on within 2-3 days, and we're still sitting on 25% updated. Some is probably due to the weekend, but some is due to the fact that many of us can't figure this thing out.

I would like to thank qwizzie for his very helpful guide.

updated to new wallet succesfully, reindex took about ~7 minutes here (linux 64bit).

Some suggestions:
- It would be nice to have the ability to set your own font or at least increase/decrease the font size.
- Also it would be nice to change the date notation , now it's "8/17/15" which is totally not understandable for Europeans :p (we mostly use dd/mm/yyyy - so with full year as well).

Great to see so much progress, keep it up Evan and Team! Smiley

It would be nice if we could make some "gentlemen" agreements with one or two of the bigger pools to have them automatically
limit their hashrate or have them put into action a discouragement policy (referring miners to use other pools) once they reach 50% or more on the Dash
network.

It would be as much in their interest as it is in our interest, a pool without trust could very quickly become a pool with a lot less miners....

What if DASH-foundation invests in servers and opens pools for mining diversity to help secure the coin :O Mind like blown

Ya, Cool!

and then the mining rewards goes to invest in more servers to keep the diversity. what if 33% of the network is from DASH-foundation and if rewards go high. invest in future development of the coin. mind like blown,

Hello.
I am thinking about try my luck on solo mining Dash for a while.
Coinwarz tell me that it will take me around 2.3 days to find a block depending on luck.
What does that mean ? It can take 2.3 days or two months to find a block ?
I dont really understand why Coinwarz have that calculation if everything is depending on luck.
I never solo mined before, is it worth trying these days or should i just go regular pooling ?
you can only solo mine with old version 11, the new release of version 12 will not allow it because of a code carry over from bitcoin 10, it is hoped there will be a modification to bring back solo mining.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commit/cf0c47b
You have until september to solo mine before enforcement begins.
The diff is probably too high anyway to find a block, try this custom optimized AMD miner, it is quicker than solo mining and recommended, and helps not to have too much hash power and potential forking in one pool,
I am surpised more do not use it.
http://dashminer.com/

I was thinking about mining solo with NiceHash: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1017498.0
You are confusing solo mining by yourself in your wallet with a pool such as nicehash (admittedly their wording is deceiving), they are still a pool, so that means you are mining for them.

Whoever is editing the title, ASIC Resistant is a pretty big selling point IM
Maybe that's not really true anymore. An X11 ASIC can and will happen.

Ok guys, last try for new miners, to help stop a potential fork produced by coinmine,
if you want to nearly DOUBLE your mining income by switching to a different (AMD only) sgminer produced by dashminer.com with slightly highly GPU temps then go here,
http://dashminer.com/

I vouch for their payouts but if you don't believe me check the stats for dashminer here,
(as a rough guideline, 1 R9 280X = 0.2 dash per day, coinmine is 0.1-.14 dash per day from current stats)
http://poolpicker.eu/table?algo=x11
and compare to coinmine's
https://www2.coinmine.pl/dash/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool

so do you want to supersize your income or stay sgminer unoptimized forever and get only half that is the question?

I lost the link(many pages back!) but an ASIC guy has already posted a screen shot test simulation of an X11 on a FPGA, he said it is not economically viable to bring the design into production at this current time due to the price of the components compared to market price of Dash, it took him a year to design he said.

The migration from v11 to v12 is most likely messing up that statistic..
Last block just got 3.7 dash MN payout --> https://dashninja.pl/blocks.html
It seems to range between 2.3 and 3.7 dash (per 4 or 5 days)
Keep in mind enforcement is still off...

Perhaps Windows people give up when they try the Install Dashminer link on the Dashminer Getting Started page? It yields an error "https://mega.nz/?_escaped_fragment_=ZRYkh blah blah", at least when I test it.

Masternode Operators do not "buy" software to generate them revenue. They're rewarded for a service. It is expected they take proper measures to insure the network is maintained.

We have had testnet for months, where everything has been layed out. Numerous questions and answers are brought up daily.

There is no responsibility by the dev team, who are volunteers, to produce a step-by-step direction for MN Op. It is expected MN OPs keep up with changes. There is absolutely nothing new or radically different, just adaptation to bitcoin core v.10.

Fair enough. But in that case, I suggest everyone have very reasonable expectations about the speed with which the network will update. I don't recall ever seeing such a small percentage of masternodes updated after this many days. Usually enforcement goes on within 2-3 days, and we're still sitting on 25% updated.  I'm sorry you feel that way, but I really believe your reasoning is off. Most haven't updated because they are well aware of what's happening, and that inicial launch could have (and did) have little mainnet quirks, that the devs quick as always came to solve. Service providers seldom update on launch, as these situations are expected. Veteran MN OP's are already "tired" of updating 2, 3 4 times in one day. Most will wait for a final "ok, this is it, this one is gold".

Plus it's August, when most people in the northern hemisphere are on holidays.

The network is steadily udpating. .v45 really does seem like it is it, as far as I can tell, and I have no doubt the majority of the network will update shortly. Service providers are always last to udpate to avoid service disruption to their clients, in case of expected bugs and quirks. Testnet is a sterile environment while mainnet is a jungle.

If "many of you" can't figure this out, the simple solution is to head over to www.dashpay.io and ask for help. Or just stroll through the last half dozen pages of testnet, or better still, the v.12 official release thread.

ddlink, I really don't want to antagonize you or anything, but the way you write makes it seem like there is a responsibility by the dev team to push out simple to follow tutorial for noobs. That is certainly not the case! It is their responsibility to answer the end user any questions they have. And we did have many many questions over the past months. And nothing world changing has happened for MN Ops anyways.

Everything is "exactly" as it has always been in terms of use and MN setup, except slight differences where now you should use the RPC client dash-cli, which behaves exactly as dashd.

start the daemon with "./dashd", from there on use "./dash-cli" for RPC, for example, "./dash-clip help"

As far as changes done, like dropping the donation address, well... That is why we ask people to join testnet to start with! To contribute, share their troubles and wishes, be informed and generally contribute to the success of the project.

I am not a fan of closed sources exe files either but I scanned it with everything I had and dashminer came recommended by a larger miner that I knew already, and hasn't set off any fire alarms just yet Roll Eyes ...
