WANTED: Developer who can clone Dash repo and setup for 8BIT coin swap.

Hi.

We are planning to fork Dash and swap all 8BIT coins to the new chain, because of chain and sync issues with the old 8BIT code, and the dev left in May.  8BIT already has masternodes, but big syncing problem for the wallets which can take days.

With the full Dash version we can fix this and fund future development from the blockchain, for gaming and demoscene features for 8BIT.

If anyone has the skills to clone a full version of Dash and get working for 8BIT, please message me or post on the thread and how much you think it would cost:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1164488

Sorry, this is not for promotion, trying to find developers who know Dash Smiley

Thank you

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Quote from: Evan on dashtalk about v12
- When you restart your masternode with either "masternode start" or "masternode start-many" or "masternode start-alias" command, you are forced to the back of the queue.
Please remind, what for?
Let me correct this ^^^^^ Smiley
Daemon restart is ok.
Ok, I meant it. The question is still actual. Is there any kind of exploit that fixed with that measure?

If a restart put you in front or even the middle of the line, then someone could just restart constantly to get extra payments.

This is only for protocol changes, so updating daemon from .50 to .51 doesn't require a restart from the cold wallet and you don't lose your place.  Smiley

On checking one of my bitcoin addresses today on blockchain.info, I noticed a transaction where an address labelled as X-BITCOINS.com had deposited 0.0001 BTC in the address.

Does anyone know what this is ?

(The amount was transferred into my address, not out of).

Is it some kind of spam advertising thing ? The transaction seems to have been triggered by me doing balance lookups on that address on web based block explorers.

EDIT: I found this which seems to answer my question.

I believe on v11 it puts me exactly in the same place in queue as before and the only way to miss the payment is to be offline just when the payment occurs.
For now, if there're paymets every 5 days and you run your node for 4d 22h and then go offline for an hour and restart, you'll miss your payment and will wait another 5 days.
So the original question was - has it technical background or is it a trying to achieve 100% uptime of mn network?

Strange that, its not from rogue transaction charges or spurious change addresses from bitstamp somehow is it?

You did give me an idea, as it had happened 4 times in 1 yr to someone it might all be worth collecting in a large bucket of receiving addresses.
set the key pool > 1,000,000 and generate all the addresses (using a loop preferably) and then simply sit and wait for free spam payments to roll in, although be prepared to wait sometime before cashing out.

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release.
Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5%
Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1)  = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update

I thought we had more than 1 hour, though. Maybe someone else can help with that detail. I'm still figuring this out also, I just thought I would try to answer since it's so quiet here today.

It's the latter: Masternode network has a proof-of-service paradigm, and the queue reset on new sigtime is another metric to achieve 100% uptime.

LOL! If anyone would try that it would be you...

Sorry to break up the OT, but it appears someone dropped six Masternodes onto Cryptsy and barely budged the price. Are people giving up on installing V12 and dumping? It's not that hard...

Not really, we need trading and volume too, so is important for coins to move.  The masternode count is back above 2900 and trending towards 3000 as before the update, so it might take a little time but we are moving in the right direction. Big updates always take time, specially now that some people prefer to wait until we go through all the initial mainnet revisions we are already at v51 which seems to be the final one for now. We should cross 3000 again over the next couple of weeks.

Well, that someone else is good for some nice Bitfinex graphs : http://dc-charts.com/depth_dash.php?ex=9&cu=0

Mr Whale on Bitfinex, whatever you do i suggest you do it fast because Bitfinex is about to close the DRK/BTC pair due to low Dash volume
(ironically). You will have till midnight UTC time (so some 4 hrs and 15 minutes of trading left).

edit : eh, my mouse accidentally ended up on that 0.01501422 price but if you feel like thats a sign to buy up to that range i wont argue against it  Grin

well, those daytraders have three hours and 40 minutes to bite...

edit 1 : and bye bye 5K buy-order. Buy order has been cancelled
edit 2 : i thought he cancelled it.. but no, its still there
edit 3 : i have a funny feeling about these last few hours on Bitfinex, like something big is about to happen.. buy-order seems also to be replenished to exactly 5K

Thats me screwed for charts now.

No Bitcoinwisdom support for Cryptsy and no Bitfinex at all.

I suppose I can read the order book and imagine the charts. I've looked at them often enough  Wink

There actually is support, but it's "blocked" in some countries. If you are from the USA you should be able to see it with a normal browser. Otherwise, you could use https://www.4proxy.us/ with the bitcoinwisdom link (https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/cryptsy/drkbtc) to properly see the chart. Make sure you opt-out "[Default] Include mini URL-form on every page", because it will screw up the view. Full credits go to one of your community members, who "invented" this method.
