I wanna join the dark side!
But when i run sgminer i get a "catastrophic failure in compilation of C:\Users\username\AppData/Loca
and another saying that it "cannot open source file blacke.cl"
I downloaded this copy of sgminer from the darkcoin.io site
Am running Win7 64 and have been mining script with seminar in the past no probe.
What am I missing here?
Help please!
Also, try running sgminer somewhere other than Program Files. Program Files [and the x86 version] is a system folder, and it doesn't always allow reads and writes - especially if you have UAC enabled. Copy the whole mess to someplace like MY Documents or Downloads, or anywhere else in your library. That seems to help.
I think it is because sgminer (like many other miners) does some configuration writes to the .dlls when it starts up.
Thanks to you and aigeezer for the help. This link was key.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5200333#msg5200333My mistake was cd'ing into the sgminer folder and running "sgminer -c test.conf" (darkcoin-sgminer was in Programs)
Fixing this involved:
1. Moving darkcoin-sgminer to the top level of the C drive
1. Moving the example.bat to the Desktop and editing it like this:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cd C:/darkcoin-sgminer/
sgminer -c myoldscryptminingconf.conf
I added "temp-hysteresis" : "5", to my conf as someone else pin this thread recommended (thanks you) since the temps was moving around too much. (also remove the "kernel: scrypt" line in the conf in case it's there
ALSO
Had to downgrade to Catalyst 13.11 beta9.5 from 13.2 to avoid error -11,
so Catalyst 13.11 beta9.5 is what you want.
Im hashing a cool 4.4Mhz with 3 cards (7970, R9 290, 5770) and could not be happier. Since theres no scrypt they run cooler and quieter… ah… what joy!
I'm rocking the darkside
thanks again to all who helped!
EDIT: Now thinking I'll try pushing my GPU's with higher intensity settings i would have used with scrypt
UPDATE: Raising intensity made no difference. So your script mining script should be optimised as is (assuming it was before)
