Looks like the DRK market is back in business.

I nearly got all my DRK back but then it just ran away from me when I was 250 DRK short of my master node  Cheesy , like a hare in the headlights - right out of sight.

You see, I have absolute no talent at trading Sad. Plan to buy more DRK tomorrow @ 0.014 because have bought a lot @ 0.016 2 days before. Now it's rising again before I get my hand to my BTC. FUKC.

Haven't really been active in this thread lately, anyone can update me on what's going on with the coin? Why the sudden price drop?

Masternode payments fork is pushed back to late june.

Masternode payments fork aka RC3 pushed to late June. Darksend has always been operational with Masternodes (I know you already knew this Alex, just wanted to clarify for anyone not in sync with news)

I think cold wallet integration with MN is now part of this fork which is an enhancement, originally planned for RC4.

Yeah, cold wallet would be cool. Anyway, with the local/remote setup things are super safe already. Even with the wallet in the server there is almost no risk if things are done right.

I've been watching Cryptsy and Mintpal very closely this last couple of weeks and I've noticed that the price drops seem to be orchestrated by huge sell orders (several or tens of BTC worth of DRK) which have no prospect of being filled. In fact the volume of sales is pretty modest in comparison with the size of the orders... which don't seem to reduce at all.
So who's in control of all this Darkcoin? And why do they feel that it's in their interests to devalue their own investments?
Could they be looking for more cheap coin to fund Masternodes?
The problem comes when they undermine confidence so much that nobody else wants to invest. It may eventually offer a valuable service, but that service is by no means unique; and if the big players are continually manipulating the market for their own gain, then the casual user will be looking elsewhere.

If you follow other cryptocurrencies, you will see that this happens to all of them.  The crypto world is rife with price manipulation.

That is part of the game with any crypto, BTC included. Early adopters of BTC have huge fiat advantages by now and they do the same thing to BTC with their fiat arsenal. It is just part of the game, but as some of them are finding out, it has never worked as efficiently in Darkcoin.

Just watch this thread and you will get a pretty good idea of how people try to manipulate others by discussing their trades openly, only it doesn't seem to help much Wink

I lost some confidence on this coin and sold part of our investment.
delays and delays remember me so many products that fail at the end. A basic thing like a MN vote failure, detected by someone outside the developer network, generate many "it will go down...".
less than 24 hours later, "everything is fine, it will go up...".

Tomorrow another tester will find a new bug (that's normal on any new platform), and repeat again, delay, dump, pump, dump.

is funny to read a message like "it's part of the game". exactly the same words apply for the "ASIC" sellers when ask for payments without even have a prototype.

Do you think DRK's price could be lower?
My crystal ball says: potato.

You better sell me your DRKs. I'm such a nice guy I'll take them off your hands even though they're totally worthless for no apparent reason.

I promise not to go back to Trollhunter mode... ;-)

Yep, anyone who has any kind of opinion on what the price will do is just trying to be manipulative. It's a fact.

So who's in control of all this Darkcoin? And why do they feel that it's in their interests to devalue their own investments?

Maybe those who instamined 1,7m, ~40% of today's supply, in the first hours of mining distribution?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641178

Could they be looking for more cheap coin to fund Masternodes?

Nope, they got more than enough. Check above reply.

The problem comes when they undermine confidence so much that nobody else wants to invest. It may eventually offer a valuable service, but that service is by no means unique; and if the big players are continually manipulating the market for their own gain, then the casual user will be looking elsewhere.

This is called the downward bear trend. The whole idea is to undermine confidence.

Market makers do not manipulate it solely for their own gain. This is common misconception.
They want to get more people involved and interested. This will in turn help in adding the coin to the big league markets, like bitfinex and further increase value.

http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/FAQ#Was_Darkcoin_Instamined.3F

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/the-birth-of-darkcoin.162/

Several people still have conspiracy theories about the instamine by "dev & friends".

Yeah, sure. If you believe that every pre-announced coin in the altcoin section is instamined by "dev & friends", you need to step back and do a reality check.

The reality is, that ever since the altcoin became profitable, there are hundreds and hundreds of people monitoring the section and mining EVERY SINGLE COIN.
No exception. Every announced coin is mined by hundreds and hundreds of people.

And you know what happens next? The moment coin hits first serious exchange, most early miners dump the coins. That's if they haven't sold through forum already.
Why? Because 99.9% of the coins does not EVER rise more than that. Guaranteed.

The only way for "dev & friends" to get easy coin is:
1) pre-mine
2) ninja launch

None of this happened, and you have exactly.... 0 proof that "dev & friends" holds millions of coins.

Do you still believe "dev & friends" hold millions of coins?

If this wasn't enough, do you really think that mystery buyer would spent 6.2mln USD in BTC between 26/05 - 02/06 buying coins dumped by panic sellers?
Having that much money, you're not stupid, especially buying at such dips.

Do you really think someone smart enough to have 6.2mln USD would have dropped that much money into DRK, if he had even a slight suspicion of it being a scam?
If yes, I'm afraid that even reality check might not help, you've lost it.

( some link to Darcoin FAQ i don't care about )

1,7m were distributed in the first hours. It is a FACT and you can check the blockchain for proof. No idea what happened after that with them, but I do not believe these amounts were dumped on the market shortly after that. It has some probability but very unlikely.

All I know is that those millions are in strong hands. And it's really all that matters to me and helps analyze this market.  Smiley

EDIT: People so allergic on this instamine issue in this thread.  Grin

Dear Trolls you really don't get it. When you are not here price drops, when you are here we are on the rise and keep rising. We welcome you. Please spread more FUD. Try at least:

- instamine (very popular for beginning Trolls)
- the fork two weeks ago (for medium expert Trolls)
- dark coin isn't anonymous at all (for experienced Trolls)

Good luck may the best Troll win. The winner gets to hold an enormous amount of some shit pump and dump coin, you know those best. It is where you normally live when Dark Coin is not rising.

Again best of luck let the FUD begin we will rate you for most creative Troll!
