The price is kind of baffling really. I mean come on It is a good buying opportunity for people, just look at the masternode count 805 and it just keeps climbing, it will have to adjust eventually as more coins are held in masternodes. It also gives the development team some time to develop without so much pressure, smart investors would be accumulating now.

Exactly who do you mean? Instead of arguing why the price is falling you should either: A) Invest more B) Get investors to invest.

The price is kind of baffling really. I mean come on Who cares? It's late August 2014. It's literally priced like Bitcoin in late Ocober 2011. The price is volatile to the point of psychosis. Buy when you think it's low. Personally, I think we are getting into the bottom end of the trading range again, so I'm visiting Coinbase now. Darkcoin is in my 5 year investment plan. Edit: got it pbleak, glad to see you're stocking up.

When I referred to the masternode count I meant people are in fact buying and setting masternodes, so eventually the system needs to find equilibrium and price will start going up. The more nodes we have before important news the better as these coins wont be available in the markets.

I just don't understand it. Back when Darksend was practically useless, the price was over $15 (.028 was the all-time-high I believe). Now that we have a fully functioning, fully anonymizing product, it's practically worthless.
Put another way, the price (based on a promise) was over $15 at one point. Now that the promise has been realized, the price is down 80%. In what other industry can a company produce a successful, revolutionary product and have their stock price totally collapse as a result.
I honestly don't get it.
I must say that I'm reminded of the saying "The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent."
P.S. I also don't understand why the Darkcoin team flatly refuses to do any actual marketing. Evan or eltito (don't recall which) promised a massive marketing blitz when the problems were worked out of RC4...and still nothing. I'm not suggesting hype; I'm suggesting telling people about what you actually have working. I realize that many of you will say "wait to do the marketing until open source" and that's great, except that when you wait too long, there comes a point when the world pretty much forgets about you. Anybody remember emunie? Eighteen months after the intended release date and they are now "nearing a 1.0 release." Does anybody really think the world will care anymore if and when they finally do release the damn thing?

ive been watching btcd recently and i see the same patterns as before, xc,vrc, clk etc all trying to be like drk but all where exposed by people here as scams or not working as advertised. Now why hasnt this happened with btcd? its value is 3x drk and its market cap is getting close to drk. I know btcd is a clone wanabe drk and the pump wont last. It will dump just as hard as all the previous drk compettion and alot of noobs will be burnt again.

IMO there is a manipulation again, Evan and team are closer and closer to RC5 release so the manipulators know these are the last weeks for getting some cheap coins before BIG MO. The same guy or guys sell themselves the coins doing some artificial panic and having buy orders already prepared. After all they will be laughing all the way to drkbank. Good night.

I just don't understand it. Back when Darksend was practically useless, the price was over $15 (.028 was the all-time-high I believe). Now that we have a fully functioning, fully anonymizing product, it's practically worthless.....I honestly don't get it Let me help. In the crypto-economy, everything is speculation because there is no market for actually *using* the money (except possibly Bitcoin if you're buying something from Overstock or Dell). When a new coin looks like it has the makings of "the next great thing", it creates a massive speculative bubble - not because it has strong fundamentals but because there's a good chance of a huge number of traders targeting it for a "pump". In some cases, that drives the price to an all time high which is many times its regular tradable value. Once the "pump" is over, the market won't touch it to any large extent because it is now seen as a "post-pump" phase coin. There's far too much risk in investing in such coins because it's never likely to see its all-time high again, having priced everything in that could possibly happen the first time around. If the so called "fundamentals" ever do kick in again to such an extent that it becomes a long term success, there's all the time in the world to grab a handful (which is all you need for "insurance purposes"). But as a short term BTC earner in another "pump" style accumulation phase it's seen as useless, having already been raped of its value the first time around. The only coin I've seen defy this pattern is NXT. It has - on at least 2 occasions since its first all time high breached it after having been dumped the first time. The last one was because of a "perfect storm" confluence of a technical milestone being reached (asset exchange) plus the prospect of a new retail gateway. Both of these things would have actually promoteg widespread utilisation of the currency as opposed to just holding for holding's sake, so the revaluation was merited. DRK's price is currently reflects that it is seen as a white elephant asset. i.e. - not used for anything - limited speculative value So called "fundamentals" are unlikely to change that unless they look like causing a major change in adoption. Obviously, we all hope that that will eventually happen, but it's not looking like exactly "round the corner" which is why the markets are not showing any urgency.

It turns out the masternode voting system is over complicated and somewhat risky to the network, so I've removed it and am using the RC3 masternode payment system. This means we won't have enforcement, but it fixes all of these issues and removes the risk to the network. http://jira.darkcoin.qa/browse/DRK-33?Does this mean we won't ever have enforcement?

Oh ya. This totally sounds safe for the seller. What could possibly go wrong for the sellers sending you all the DRK first THEN you pay.

UH this is really worrying. "Evan Duffield added a comment - 5 hours ago It turns out the masternode voting system is over complicated and somewhat risky to the network, so I've removed it and am using the RC3 masternode payment system. This means we won't have enforcement, but it fixes all of these issues and removes the risk to the network." PLEASE please please tell me this is not true. Without enforcement, the entire masternode system is compromised!!! What were all those months of work for, if we don't get enforcement?

************ Alert ************ Great Ambrose Evans Pritchard interview about the state of the world financial system. Ambrose recommends buying Darkcoin to protect oneself from worldwide financial collapse and Mayhem. According to Pritchard, Darkcoin is unlevered base money, whereas Fiat is highly levered credit money. Says that when the Chinese and Russians toss their US T-bond holdings onto the tinderbox that is the current treasuries market, everything will go up in a huge bonfire that explodes a rocket under the a*ss of metals, commodities and cryptocurrencies - in particular Darkcoin which will eventually see numerical parity with Bitcoin. Says that emerging markets have doubled their debt levels since the last panic of 2008 and that China deliberately created a "Bitcoin ban" scare back in December so they could shake-out large quantities of cryptocurrency to add to their "commodity lifeboat" which would serve as a massive airbag when the worldwide financial system hits the buffers. Says that that event will occur at a time of their choosing since they hold all the (US Treasury Bond) cards but they won't be doing it till they've hoovered up enough DRK @ 0.00465 BTC. Enjoy !! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3tPljeiT-YThx tok, very interesting! Watched entire interview to catch Dark comments... Well worth it!

Evan we NEED a clear statement on what is going on! The theme for the last two fucking months was that enforcement was just around the corner! Please explain!!
I agree. This is nothing short of disasterous if true. I'm seriously hoping you just misspoke. Without enforcement, why would any pool pay MNs?
