Strange... I was told over skype that paypal was not being accepted anymore due to quota being filled.

Hey, Matt. My PM and email boxes are getting full with requests from those trying to get refunds from you. Any way you can relieve the pressure off me, or is there something about this thread I should be aware of?

Full Disclosure: I have had people express concerns about asiabtc, but to date I've yet to conduct a single search to see what they're all about. That will change if I learnt that you are somehow involved with them in ANY capacity.

~Bruno Kucinskas

There is no business connection between lightningasic and bobsag3. Aside from maybe bobsag placing an order or receiving a sample. This is not related to the miners co-op keep that shit out of here...

I wonder what people think of the following I dragged from a vertocoin thread

"[–]D4wn0ff473 7 points 4 days ago*
First of all these asics are jokes. The hash power for both btc and ltc is not worth the price. The only thing that makes them worth the price is the 7w of power usage for 300Kh/s on solo scrypt ventures, but the 8gh/s for btc mining at 100w is not going to make a dent in the current pedohash network power. Even going after other 256 coins on the btc side would not be worth it because most of those networks are already drowning in asics and fpgas. Even if you had a a couple hundred of them you would still not be making a decent enough dent to have roi ever especially with the current price.
But alpha technologies has 5mh/s and 25mh/s scrypt asics that will be shipping in a few months. Not to mention that sluicebit has 2 and 4 mh/s scrypt fpga's that will be shipping soon. The game will soon be over for scrypt coins with no differential built in like vert does. But I really feel bad for the people who wasted and will waste their money on these asics. The company obviously saw the train coming of the larger asics and fpgas so they sped up dev to get these out as fast as possible. They will be outdated and worhtless in a few months and the owners will never have a chance to make the majority of their money back

is alpha t even real? site looks scammy to me
I personally think that units are interesting, regardless other projects. Gridseed in one of the few LTC miner producers that is currently shipping! Most of the other projects no evidence yet! only time will tell. For a more comprehensive list check this thread: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=6506.0

Alpha is not accepting new orders. If they were scamming everyone I don't think they would bother keeping up the charade (c.f. Scrypt ASIC International). Now it's possible they are in over their heads and will turn into BFL.

I ordered my LA3M. Paid by Paypal a few days ago. All $ amounts in USD for USA shipment. I paid $2,846.25 ($2,750 including shipping plus 3.5% fee for using paypal).

The pricing includes all the hardware to run a stand-alone system. It works out to $100 for the controller, and $250 per unit. If it works out well, Jack said I can order 10 more units without the controller (controller can handle 20 units). I presume that would cost $2,500 + $150 for shipping. Which is the price difference between LA3M and LA6M.

He said they would ship around Feb 18. For those looking for pricing:

LA5U $350 + $40 for dhl express, 300KHS scrypt+10GHS SHA256
1XUSB cell, 1X controller,1X 12V laptop adapter,1Xmini usb cable,1X 5V adapter

LA3M $2600 + $150 for dhl express, 3MHS scrypt+100GHS SHA256.
10XUSB cell, 1X controller,2X 12V industry adapter,10Xmini usb cable,10 12V power cable,1Xusb hub,1Xmini usb cable,1X5V usb adapter

LA6M $5100 + $300 FOR DHL express, 6MHS scrypt+200GHS SHA256.
20XUSB cell, 1X controller,4X 12V industry adapter,20Xmini usb cable,20 12V power cable,1Xusb hub,1Xmini usb cable,1X5V usb adapter

Im guessing you emailed the email as part of the notes to confirm shipping address, name etc. Did you hear anything back?

In the same boat as you paid by paypal but don't want to get on his back as I know he's very busy

Do you wish to share basic steps what you did to get them running?
I think people will have the same problem soon when more units arrives. Im waiting my tracking and unit maybe next week.

i will work on writing up a guide today.

Be sure to put your BTC or LTC donation address on it.  I'd be willing to toss you a couple bucks worth of either for your efforts.  Smiley

Perhaps it can be posted to Google Docs or something and we can all add/contribute to it as well?

+1

Would you prefer word or pdf? As i will add pictures. I can also add the text guide on google docs.

Either is fine.  You could always just use URLs to an image hosting service and go with straight text on Google Docs.  The images could be hosted in a Dropbox account.  I'll drop you 1 LTC donation for your efforts in getting the ball rolling with some solid instructions.

Incidentally, I did offer upto 4 LTC as a donation/bounty on the LTCtalk forums for some "wiring mod" instructions (https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=13314.msg125493#msg125493).  I'm willing to propose the same here as well in case you or anyeone else wants to tackle this as well.

If it has to do with the creditability of someone who got a sample for review...I want to know all I can about that person. So it would be relevant.

I have had a local check up on prices. From my knowledge thats not correct. Since Jack moves so many to the outside in the normal price hes not interested in selling to a lower price.

Beastlymac (or anyone who has these in hand), can you tell me if the unit is only being run in Scrypt mode does it still need the power adapter or can it run entirely off the USB connector?

I've got a bizarre idea on how to mount these using 4" PVC tubing that i'll cut a slit down the side of for cable and reset access.  Each tube will be a stack of miners working in their own little wind tunnel.  I may even remove the fans from the individual units and just mount a single inlet/exhaust fan at each end since i've heard they generate very little heat.

I'm hoping each stack of 10 with the majority of fans removed would fit into a 24" tube and be quiet enough to keep in the living room near the network access point.

Any thoughts or better ideas?

No. Each chip is equivalent to one of the USB dual miners. Each dual miner sucks up all the power of a USB 2.0 port. Each unit has 5 chips, so you would need 5x power of a USB 2.0 port (maybe 4x since you don't have to multiply the support stuff).
