If we multiply that with the market caps of those two currencies we pretty much exactly get an estimated market cap of $9 million for NEM (for both values). If we calulacte the market cap of NEM with the size of this thread vs the old NXT thread we get: $6 million for NEM. (talk about pulling numbers out of the hat )

current market cap going by highest bid(60,000k nxt) puts nem in #12 marketcap @ >9m dollars! h o l y g a w d
You sure that's a bid price and not and ask price? I don't own any NXT so I don't have a client to check the AE.

want to be a Closed Alpha tester, how i can become it?
Sorry - it's impossible. It shouldn't be too long to the open alpha though. Whitepaper WON'T be published until beta is ready (which probably will be in August)

It is a bid price, but currently these bids mean nothing because there is nothing to sell right now? Someone could place a 1 million nxt per share bid just for fun, correct me if i'm wrong

alpha, beta? What's wrong? These two statements aren't really linked... - No one but the developers can test the closed alpha.
- The whitepaper won't be published until the beta release.
If you're confused about the terminology of alpha and beta, take a look at this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle

I think these kind of correlations are more incidental or random than they seem. Indeed, we all know that correlation does not imply causation, still we are very prone to getting fooled by randomness. Here's a quite fascinating list of correlations outlining that point: http://www.tylervigen.com/

Would be a b*tch if NEM was released on the AE and someone would be able to sell whilst he/she was sleeping

Thanks guys! Yeah, that's a $9,200,000 market cap already... I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Ideally we'll all get out of the habit of referring to the 'marketcap' of NEM in dollars. NEM is meant to be a currency, not a stock or commodity. When have you heard of people referring to the 'marketcap' of USD or GBP?

If you bought a token then you'd be able to trade that token for NEM come the launch. 1000 of these tokens were issued. This system allows people to trade and establish a price for NEM in a roundabout way prior to launch. You're right that you can't buy or sell NEM directly right now, but these tokens represent a NEM stake as a kind of IOU. By the way, look at my previous post for a description of alpha and beta software.

Yes I understand, but what i'm trying to say is that there won't be any sellers till 30th of May, so you can place any buy bid before that day simply to cheer up everybody here or just for fun, and then remove it. So unfortunately these 60000Nxt offers mean nothing right now? thank you for the link, i was trying to understand which one of these is correct closed alpha > public alpha > beta > nem launch or closed alpha > public alpha > nem launch/beta

There's no sell orders because the tokens won't be issued until the 30th May; there's nothing to sell yet. First one is correct. Take a look at Gimre's post below (#8576)

closed alpha > public alpha > beta > nem launch or closed alpha > public alpha > nem launch/beta
actually it'll be something like alpha p0 -> 1-? weeks -> alpha p1 -> (hopefully) 1-2 weeks -> alpha p2 -> indefinite -> beta (nem launch) -> indefinite -> V1 blockchain

Couldn't this be an order that gets pulled in two days? Just there to drive the price up? On a side note: No Envy Movement, New Economy Movement. Anyone here should keep that in the back of their heads while seeing offers like this. Don't forget where we came from Greed is the single most important driving force behind the crypto movement. As long as we acknowledge that and as long as we manage to contain that that's no real problem at all. It takes effort though.

Has anybody claimed the bounty yet? There's this but I'm not sure if UP saw it. Right, saw that, thanks for the infographic. But that's not an investor's handout as far as I can tell. Agreed but UP wanted one based on the info in the summary so it seems to me that it's exactly what he wanted. I told a friend about the investors handout and he is working on a ~4 page handout as we speak!
