everyone just need to get updated. I lost count how many peers I blocked on my firewall cause they weren't upgraded and didn't wnat them poisoning my chain.

But yes, I have had a few problems but I think the message needs to get out more that people need to upgrade.

Everyone please update! The most current version is 1.3.4.2 but the only difference between 1.3.4.1 and 1.3.4.2 is a checkpoint. The hardcoded nodes are still down so please share your peer info with others to help others sync. Any 1.3.4.x version should work but anything less (1.3.3.x) will be the wrong chain! UPDATE and resync if needed!

Do we have to BEG for this update?  Where can we find it? It's not in the site. It's not in the first page.

As long as you have 1.3.4.1 and the same number of blocks as the explorer you are good.

The P2Pools are on the right chain, too.
See the CGA-P2Pool-scanner, to get the IP-addresses to add them to the config via addnode - as said by crackfoo above for addnode=192.99.35.133.

If you don't know how to add/find the config-file, see this posting: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=437950.msg6918351#msg6918351 - but use the P2Pool-node-addresses instead and addnode=192.99.35.133

Please, just let me know when this BS is ALL straightened out! I don't care about all this extra work! Geesh! It's just a coin wallet! Just want my wallet to work the way it's supposed to. Let me know when the problem has been solved, completely! I'll just trade my mined CGA for BTC for now and not worry about storing it in my wallet.

These are the "little" problems that can occur after a fork/hardfork, if not enough people update their wallet. Then there are two chains fighting each other. The more people update immediately, the faster the problems go away, since the cryptos all are peer-to-peer based, and if many people don't update, a coin is running into problems like these. The one wallet is running on the old chain, the next irunning on the forked one. That causes inconsistencies in the network. Mooncoin, for example, had the same problems for a short time. After the forking-phase with similar hiccups and people complaining, all is now going smoothly again.

But we have to urge the developer to get the official nodes running again as fast as possible so that the wallet can find good peers without adding extra nodes. There you are right.

Sorry if it seems like I am not living up to all your ridiculous expectations. I just maintain the code, threads, twitter, facebook, and official website... that is it. If you are having trouble syncing with the network try adding "addnode="s into your config and resync, P2Pool nodes are a good start. The compiled binaries (1.3.4.1) are up at http://cganomaly.com a small (old) list of peers are in the OP (they have been there since the 1.3.4.X update was released. Here are my connected peers (along with my IP):

80.241.218.9
176.58.92.169
176.9.63.136
195.130.216
192.99.35.133
149.210.168.71
71.105.130.10

As stated 1 page back (and quoted above): The only difference between 1.3.4.1 and 1.3.4.2 is a checkpoint (which does not make it a mandatory update). I am currently running 1.3.4.1 on my personal wallet and have not had it get off track since I updated (running 24/7).

How version numbers are structured:
Example:
Code:
1.3.4.1
^ ^ ^ ^
| | | Build
| | Revision
| Minor
Major
When making updates I usually "bump" the Minor or Revision number if the update requires a "hard fork". If the Build number is bumped then the changes are "cosmetic" (meaning that the update is not required). So version 1.3.4.2 is a "cosmetic" update.

Currently the owners of all the hardcoded nodes are having server problems, so making a config file with "addnode=" is pretty much required for now.

If you are new to crypto-currencies and feel that this coin is "messed up" you might want to do some research and teach yourself how to troubleshoot wallets before ranting. Read up on "forks" and command line RPC calls.

Once again: I DO NOT GET PAID TO "RUN" THIS COIN. I have a full time job and don't mine coins. I don't have the money to buy server space and maintain nodes or services. The coin community is turning into a "give me free hand outs" community, expecting that the "devs" do all the work without pay so that the users can reap the benefits. I do what I can to keep this coin going, but I will not kill myself to fulfill other peoples greed.

Side note: Things are developing behind the scenes, nothing to announce yet but things are still moving forward.

And BTW: The gravity well is working its magic. Diff is at a steady 3 and the nethashrate is slowly rising.

It IS on their website. Scroll to the bottom you'll see the links for all the platforms.

No it's not.  It's 1.3.4.1 . We already have this. Is it a kind of a game? Do we win something? Or just confusion.

That version is fine. If you pull the SRC you'll get 1.3.4.2

I need the binary!
I downloaded and ran 1.3.4.1,,, says "no block chain available".... what' the deal?
If you present a solution to a problem, make sure it SOLVES the problem and doesn't create a new one!
What is the correct solution?

For now I'll just trade my mined CGA for BTC for now and not worry about storing it in my wallet.

Thanks coiny! I'm glad you're on the job!  Grin

Hmm, how was I to know? Why then do you do it? - begs the question.....
What are you getting out of it, later? if not now?
There's gotta be some sort of personal interest or reward in it for you or, your just a workaholic? Come on!, what's your secret? Wink

Personally, I am suffering a bit from OUT GRADIENT learning curve syndrome here. I was not expecting to have to baby sit this wallet. Just simply mine and save CGA for the future when it becomes worth a lot more than it is worth now, which is what any red blooded miner/coin collector/hasher/hacker/aficionado/capitalist/geek/nerd/retired person/etc. would do.... My primary drive is to see this entire industry and market grow and become what we all want it to be. BIG BIG BIG, POWERFUL AND FREEING in all the ways it is and can free us from slavery of the status quo!

Anyway, I get what you're saying. Sorry you were offended. Didn't mean to. Just a bit bitchy over having my attention FORCED on to this game all the sudden when I was comfortably ignoring everything else except mining and saving/trading coins for my own personal gain. And I ain't apologizing for it either.  Grin Still GREED is a bit too strong of a word to describe my motivation. Maybe DESPERATION would be a better word, at times Wink And more recently, as you can tell, FRUSTRATION!
As with all my means, I work to help others while including myself in reaping the benefits and other times I am completely selfless, like most good people. Anyway, I don't need to defend myself. Just letting you know where I stand here. I don't know about everybody else but I dare say that most of them are also good people doing good things for themselves and others including mining crypto-currency!

I can see I need to take some time to learn more about what I'm doing with these wallets. I agree that it shouldn't be put on your shoulders to carry everyone through these, I am sure, easy steps to correcting ones own coin wallet woes. Still, I'd love to see it be a stable wallet that simply needs upgrading once in a great while, if at all while my coin collection grows in quantity and value.

I don't understand what FORK means. I know we ain't talkin salad fork.... But what the fork does forking FORK mean in this application?
I keep reading and hearing Fork this and fork that and this forked so now its all forked up and you need to bypass the fork or get a new fork...just fork it, man!

Okay, just point me in the right direction and I'll study up on all this and become a good little wallet caretaker like I should have been in the first place, I recon Wink

Woof! Woof!

There are 2 terms relating to "forks", first one is a blockchain fork caused by mining: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Block_chain
The other is a "hard fork" usually made by the developers when certain code is changed and an update is required.

The first one is really quite random and usually the cause for wallets having a hard time syncing. A pool or solominer solves a block near the same time as another and builds upon its own chain, if all the wallets are not connected or talking properly to each other the network can "split" onto 2 (or more) different blockchains and each side claims to be the "right" one. If the network is big enough the wallets usually fix themselves and find the "right" chain by comparing its chain with what everyone else has. If the network is small the wallet will not be able to verify if the chain it is on is correct and then throws the error message we see so much. Only way to combat this is to get more seed nodes that can talk to everyone and get everyone on the right page.

So for now, if you are on the right chain, it is beneficial for users to share there connected peers and that everyone updates their config files with these peers.

Sorry if I sound irritated but it is a common misconception that network issues can just be "magically" fixed by an update. An update can only fix bugs that are causing network issues, but this latest update is the closest CGA will get to being "bug free" when it comes to what the crypto world has to offer.
