They um... said they would be doing work. And that things might be down. No biggie, mine somewhere else for a bit.

Ah! I missed the 'might be down for a bit'. Thanks. Quick question: What are folks second favorite pools to mine? I usually hit BTC Guild or BitMinter. Are there other pools that folks who have been mining a lot longer than I have prefer? Thanks

bitparking is a quality smaller pool with merge mining. And there's always p2pool.

Eclipse, bitminter, and p2pool. Honestly ghash seems to run a quality service, Were it not for their excessive share of the network I would recommend them. Even with that I can't say its bad to put a small amount of hash rate onto it. Will reduce your variance a lot. For example, a mix between ghash+p2pool is probably a net gain for decentralization with low variance. I have had good results with slush but the fees are now to high for me too recommend, and the hash rate too low to offer any offsetting benefit in terms of variance.

Helps when you have two 8 second rounds back to back.

Uggghhhh
I entered the payment que last night. As of a few minutes ago I was in the que to be paid on this super long 6.5 hour block. But when the luck counter went to 0% then rolled over to 900% without finding the block I also got knocked out of the que "Maintaining your 3 hour hashrate average, this will take at least another a few seconds at current network difficulty"
I know I'll eventually get the payout, but it is kind of disappointing to wait 24 hours for a payout and then get bounced out of the que.

You can't get bounced out of the queue unless you change your payout threshold. It's just a visual issue with the stats. I'd give it 15 minutes or so after finding a block to make sure that everything is caught up and you should be able to see yourself still in the queue.

You're not bounced out of the queue. What is a bit misleading is that everyone is effectively in the queue, based on their oldest share since they were paid. When they cross their payment threshold, they become visible in the queue. That's what happened, there are people who haven't been paid since before your last payment, so they are ahead of you in the queue. As you say, you will get paid, but the displayed estimates of how far you are from being paid are usually too optimistic. Uggghhhh

I have made no changes of any kind, but I was ready for payout, then only ready to enter the que. If that is not bounced, then I need a different word for what happened.

Actually, you can. You enter the queue based on your estimated earnings for the current round. If your estimate drops, you can fall below the point where you need to be to get in.

Maybe we're talking about two different things then. Almost every time after a block is found, the stats says I need 0.00000000 to enter the payout queue blah blah and then within a few minutes after a refresh it tells me I am still in the queue. This is when I was and still am way above threshold for payout.

It appears that the numbers on that page do not mean what I think, and the words in the right column do not mean what they say. Somehow while not yet in the que I got a payout......

"The data on this page is cached and updated periodically, generally about 30 seconds for the short-timeframe hashrate numbers, balances, and rejected shares data; and about 675 seconds for the graphs, longer-timeframe hashrate numbers, and other datas."
BTW, Wiz, its data not datas.
