Miners, I need help.

I am going crazy.  

Every single day 1 or 2 out of my 5 A9 miners goes offline and then I have to drive to the mining site to power it off and then turn it back on. Then it works fine. The worst is when this happens at night because then it's not mining for 8 hours until I wake up the next day.

It's driving me bonkers because I never know when it will happen.

Can anyone please help me and tell me why this keeps happening.

It's completely random and not the same miner every time. It happens to all of them. Sometimes it's 1, other times it's 2 at the same time.

1 of my units has done it twice. I bought smart plugs for $20 so there would be no more BS trips to reboot.  You may be able to reboot remotely with TeamViewer/SSH or exposing SSH to the internet. If it happens again I'll try and explore the cause.

Firmware is latest.
Seems the firmware update didn't work altho it indicated success & rebooted.
Version is still b29+_20180706_042116

I receive same ERROR, sent this to Innosilicon Support:

support said Hashboard is bad, ship Hashboard back, no additional explanation?

I see this pop up in my logs too...but my miner still hashes at advertised speeds.  This could actually point to a SPI bus issue if Innosilicon said it was a bad hashboard.  Anyone else see this in their logs?

Both my A9's have the same issues.

I have tried to get a more in depth answer from Innosilicon concerning the error but you know what that is like.
I did update firmware to the b29+_20180720_152600. Unfortunately the update shows in the system - Build Date: 6th of July 2018 04:21 AM, Platform Version:b29+_20180706_042116.
I confirmed with Innosilicon support that Innosilicon is at fault for this but the firmware still updates {supposedly} to b29+_20180720_152600.
I'm not sure why they won't take the time to correct this?
I don't see why they would tell me that the Hashboard is bad if all A9 show the same error so I will continue to hash.

The 0720 FW is the same as the 0706 FW. Its just a reupload with a new revision number for the filename.

I've been a GPU miner for ages, and have just got into ASIC mining. Have 2 of these beasts with another 2 arriving shortly.

My experience with buying them (I live in the UK by the way) was problem free. I bought with a 1+1 offer from Innosilicon using a wire transfer and the 1st one arrived within 2 weeks.

I also bought with a 1+1 offer from Mining Store 5111 using wire transfer and again the 1st one arrived within 2 weeks.

A word of caution though for those in the UK - You WILL be stung for import tax to the value of VAT. Oh the only problem I had was with the UK Banking system, they don't like Cryptocurrencies full stop, and I had to justify my expense in person at the bank !!

Anyway, I've been running them both for a fortnight now, and apart from the same "issues" reported by other users, they've worked absolutely fine with 50k+ hashrates each.

Yes, Nicehash is problematic (keeps resetting) but it is set and forget. I only get connection reset issues with Nicehash, and to be honest the other errors seem more common with Nicehash than with other pools.

I have my fans set on manual now (one at 30% the other at 45%) and both have temps below 60. Ive not seen any change in hashrate, however I will say they are more unstable at higher temps.

Both my A9's have the same issues.

Seems Inno has given us a beta, both hardware and software. I have 2 A9s and both have errors. Of course, the profit now is still good, but it would be better and more stable than what we are seeing. My opinion.

I am mining mostly on NanoPool. It is OK. Much, much better than Nice Hash.

Nicehash has also many disconnects for me too.
Could you please explain us how did you changed the fan set? My A9's don't give a way to do that. At least I don't see it.

So I'm interested in estimating the ROI of these machines taking in to account an ever flooding ASIC market, increasing hash difficulty, and average ZEC daily return as posted by many on this forum.

See my below 3 scenarios with hash difficulty increases of:

-25% month (based on recent May/June/July difficulty increases from 8M to 12M)
-35% month
-Parabolic increase starting at 25% a month

Keep in mind:

A - There very well may be errors in these calculations, I'm hoping it's close but looking for input
B- These are just wild guesses and are NOT investment advice. If you order one of these units based on these tables and lose money, it's your own fault
C - I'm looking for input on reality and for people to find flaws in these tables, these are just GUESSES at which direction we could be going in
D - This assumes price will stay stagnant until next June which will almost certainly NOT happen. It could skyrocket or plummet
E - This also assumes ZCash isn't planning to fork to asic resistant algo, which is also an assumption that may not be true

I tend to think reality may be closer to the parabolic increase considering the equihash asic competition flooding the market currently. Let me know your input.

i use a similar approach to determine IF I think the ASIC will ROI before I buy them. If it is from Bitmain and now Innosilicon, Parabolic is the path it will take. I also add a factor based on the algo and how many other coins there are to mine. Other companies that do not ship as many units, or the first time an ASIC ships for an algo, gets a delay in the ramp up numbers... My approach was wrong 2 times - S9's were profitable FAR longer thanI expected, A3's and B3's were crushed FAR sooner than I planned and never I never hit ROI. (unless the coins I am still holding double in price
