Finally, the day has come, we have the best league in the world back. Have to admit I am way too excited for something that should not mean that much to me. Now we just need Championship league restart and the world will be all right again 

Unfortunately, I will not be able to watch the games today since I will be driving at that time. Will make my picks later but also leaning towards City and Sheff or maybe Villa could get a draw.

It almost certainly would be a huge success, it's just the PL having the balls to take the plunge and sever ties with traditional broadcasters. Eventually most things will go to streaming or VOD so there's no point trying to fight the inevitable. It seems most other sports have their own streaming streaming as well so the PL just needs to get with the times. People will just continue to use either illegal services or go the grey market route like I do and find a foreign broadcaster like dazn that you can use with a proxy without them. I'm sure even a lot of the people who pay for illegal IPTV would just go with the legit streaming service if there was one as IPTVs are probably going to cost you around £100 for the year anyway. They could probably even still keep Sky involved as well if they wanted. They should probably offer an exclusive Premier League package along with a streaming/VOD service that you could buy rather than coughing up for the full Sky sports package when most people don't want 90% of the stuff on there.

Absolutely. Every time people talk about them bad people pirating shows, it all boils down to access. Football is different and people who love it enough will pay for it. I know I'm absolutely not the only one who WANTS to pay for it properly.

I was changed from A.Villa wins to drawn, still think Sheffield is not accidentally in potential 5th place. it is very difficult to predict anything after so long break, maybe we can be sure that Arsenal can't win against ManCity, not even a draw.

About second game, Manchester should win that one easily. Goal difference would be 2 or higher. But Arsenal gonna get 1 easily that's why I am going with 3-1.

Villa probably should have had a penalty but it didn't go to VAR and then the Villa player accidentally bumped his own keeper who was holding the ball into the net taking it over the line but the ref was indicating that his watch didn't go off so no goal. VAR should have been consulted or stepped in.

Well, honestly first match after return was very disappointing and boring. Football level was very low there. And that moment with goal line technology and VAR was something really weird. It's amazing that they didn't managed to set up these thing properly. It's not Sunday league after all.
I hope to see much better football in City - Arsenal game.

That's what makes it sound fake or bad.  Just have it as a constant thing just to drown out the silence.

To be honest I wasn't expecting much. I only watched it because it was the first game back. Normally I would have stayed well away. Happy with the point though. Only one person when with the 0-0.

I also didn't had big expectations, but didn't expected that it will be so bad. From what I saw in Bundesliga and La Liga, first games after restart weren't that bad as this one. But probably even in normal conditions Villa - Bournemouth wouldn't be very interesting game.

It was a mistake, obviously. Sheffield get apologises from Hawk-Eye. though I’m not sure how much that means to them, they were left without winning points.

This was also a boring supposenly big team opening match which I regretted watching. I didn't bother watching the early game but the controversial disapproval of the goals got my attention from the highlight which was displayed before the kick-off of the Manchester city vs Arsenal game.

If other games would be like the Man City vs Arsenal game (just one sided and boring) then they should just end the season lol. Anyone else feels that, the 5 substitution rule is just too much, it didn't feel like i was watching a competitive game instead a club friendly.

Sheffield really needed these points in their pursuit of an European spot for next season and this is a huge mistake.

There should be a level of common sense used in these situations but goal line technology really worked reliable from the moment it was introduced so probably didn't even think about the situation.  I don't know if they have grounds to change result at the half time and nobody likes to make decions like that on their own. Why take responsibility if he was covered by the tech? I can understand his point of the view as well.

I think they should have the ground since I have watch matches that had penalty awarded after the break of first half that had the foul committed before the first half break, lol (no joke here).

You can't really change the score at half time. Things need to be done in play. I'm sure they'll learn from this and consult VAR next time but I hope they don't do it every time a player claims it happened because I've seen that plenty of times when it didn't go over the line.

VAR should have been used or stepped in at least. Maybe the ref was overly reliant on the technology but it seems to have been pretty efficient previously until then. I don't blame him for not listening to the players either because I've lost count of how many times players have gone to the ref and lied claiming the ball had gone over when it hasn't and they usually just correctly point to their watches to dismiss the claims and the ref probably thought no different this time.

What do you think guys? The good teams are good, and the shit teams are shit. I didn't notice much difference in fitness, other than some players looking cramped up around 70th min or so, but speed wise everyone looked as sharp as regular early season.

Don't agree that score should be changed. Ref decision is final and that's football hallowed ground. Mistakes happen and the ref is usually right. This was a tech failure and a lesson to be learnt. We'll go bonkers if we can change the score after the fact.

It's not bad on Bundesliga, because the sounds aren't always manipulated like you say and the timing's good when they do manipulate it. The stream I had had a half-second delay or so on reactions, and they overdid it. Like almost every interception had the crowd gasping when there really wasn't a need to, like thos overexcited commentators I grew up listening to for whom every attempt brought them to frenzy -- but the half second delay was a tad annoying. I know, I'm whining, what else can I do =p It wasn't an issue for the City-Arsenal game though.

Just dropping in to say I’m really goad we’re back. It’s a bit creepy with no fans, the fake crowd noise is weird too.
It’s better than nothing though so happy we’re back.

I don’t think I’ve seen a less inspiring game as the Villa vs Sheff U match, terrible game to get everything started, made worse by that awful goal line decision cock up. That goal could cost Sheff U a CL spot by the end of the season. City did what City do, what was David Luiz up to?
