Any news on when/if we’ll be starting to think about the structure of next seasons pool? It isn’t that long to go really, if we want a lot of players it might be good to start thinking.

I was just waiting for confirmation from the sponsor as I didn't want to announce something and get everyone's hopes up for it to fall through. So, the good news is that Sportsbet will be sponsoring the next pool. They've agreed to put 0.15 into the pot, provide a $50 free bet to every yellow cap of the week, and also participants will get a free Watford shirt upon entry if they want one (and subject to availability). Now, my question to you guys is how much should we charge as an entry fee? The prizes this year are much better and may attract a lot of interest so I don't want to make the entry fee too low and I don't want to price people out of joining, but it would be nice to find a middle ground. Whatever the entry fee is is probably worth the shirt alone and all you need to do is win one yellow cap and you're in profit. I've tabled out below the potential entry fee, how much it currently is in GBP and how big the pots will be depending on how many users join. Last year we had a little over 30 so I think we should easily get that minimum this year and I already have a handful of new users ready to join, but we could get many more as the prizes are quite lucrative as I'm sure you will agree. I think if we get 40-50 users I will pay the top ten places out as well, but 5-10 will likely be consolation prizes. I may also do the consolation prizes again for the top 5 highest scorers from a round overall but I'll see how much is left in the pot and don't forget you still get the $50 free bet to the weekly winner. If we only get around 30 users I'll probably just do the top 5 again and top 5 weekly highest round scorers like last year, but I think we should have no problem getting 30 users+ and I'm hoping we can get at least 0.15 from users to take the pot to 0.3.

Maybe 0.01 for the highest scorer of a round over-all or use towards paying fees. I'm open to suggestions though. What do you guys think? I'm thinking of aiming for 0.0035 -
0.004, but 0.005 is a much more nicer number  .

As I said before, I'll join, no matter what signup fee will be. For me something like £50 would be optimal - bigger sign up fee means bigger pot - more fun to play. But I'm not sure, maybe it will be too much for some people. And it's nice to see BTC going up recently. As you said, 0.005 BTC is really nice number and I don't think it's too much for whole season fun activity . And it's nice deal that you got from Sportsbet .

Well I'm ok with 0.005 for sure and like you said it's a small price to pay for an entire season of fun, but I'd like to hear from everyone else before I set the price. I'll also speak to the new people who wanted to join and see what price-range they're ok with. I want to get the sign-up thread up and running ASAP but I need to set a price in stone. I'll see what the fiat value is like tomorrow but if a fair few people don't really want to go the more expensive route it'll probably between 0.0035 = £30.52 to 0.004 = £34.87 and I can just round it up or down to £30 to £35. If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to post them.

Well, you don't want too many users as it would be nice to keep it competitive. If 200 join then there's less people who would win prizes, though the more people that did join I would extend the winning spots to not make it too difficult to win something even if it's just a consolation prize or your money back or something.

I always open a new thread in Games and Rounds every year for sign-ups. This is just the discussion thread. I just wanted to get the opinion of existing users first so I can post the games and rounds thread with the price so people know what they're going to be paying. I'll be collecting the money in straight away this time as well. If the majority of the current users agreed that 0.005 is ok then I'd likely go with that. I might message all the current users later but if people can chime in here that would be better.

The trouble is with that is who wants a wooden spoon, and also, the user who just gives up on the pool will probably win it.

I'm up for whatever the group decides. With this kind of bonus reward I'd like it to be a bit more competitive, so I'd rather see a 0.005 than 0.003 buy-in.

It's for the whole season after all, and 1 yellow cap pays us back. So, Sportsbet is providing 0.15 BTC and 1.900$ in free bets. Considering all this, 0.005 sounds conservative.

I'd rather have 30-50 players than 200, but I'll roll with whatever. Hopefully we'll have something like this for CL too.

$56 dollars isn't a lot. The shirts probably retail for more than that. And like I and others have said, it's for an entire season. There's 38 rounds in the Premier League so even at 0.005 that works out at £1.13 a week. Most people probably spend $50 on a meal out or taking their family to the cinema. I bet most gamblers here spend a lot more than £1.13 a week as well, and that's one thing I like about the pool. Nobody is breaking the bank here and you're not gambling with more than you can afford to lose. The difference between 0.005 and 0.004 is currently only £8.58 so if that's the difference between whether you play or not then I don't know what to say. I'm open to feedback from people and will try find a middle ground but $56 entry fee when you can practically win that back with one yellow cap seems a bargain to me. You have to remember the bigger the pot the bigger the prizes for everyone; the lower the entry fee the more people play and the less chance you have of winning something. Once I post the sign-up thread with the current prizes offered I'd be very surprised if we didn't get quite a bit of interest even at 0.005. Currently the only people who know about this are whoever has viewed this thread. I'll give users a day or two to chime in with their opinions but I want to get the Announcement thread up ASAP to maximise exposure and sign-ups and give people time to earn the entry fee if they don't have it yet (PL starts on the 1th so there's still plenty of time). I really don't want to lose people from the pool, especially over a tiny bit, but I'm also doing my best to make it more exiting and lucrative for people. I'll probably message the previous players and see what they're ok with. If we can get 20 previous users ok with 0.005 then I think that should be fine.

Previous one was my first time experience and it was really fun. I haven't sticked much to PL that much earlier but last season was really entertaining. Had to say pool kind made me sticked to it more I guess.

I'd join at .005 if it comes to that but I'm with hilarious.  Smaller buy in, more fun and hopefully new faces next season.  And it's good to see 10 spots being in the money.  That should get more people interested.

Just the top 3 win something? It has to be at least top 5, but I'd like to do the top ten as outlined above. It would be nice to make it a bit more competitive and I feel with the way superbru score things it's a very close race with not many points in it, so it would be nice to at least give some consolation prizes for 5-10 spots. If the pool is much bigger this year (which I expect it to be) then it's going to be even harder to win a prize and with having a decent prize pot we can afford to pay bigger prizes. If we take in more than expected I'll probably bump up the top 5 prizes though (or maybe places 2-5 seeing as first place is double second place).

So, Fulham is back to EPL after one year. A bit disappointed, wanted to see Brentford in EPL. It was equal game which went to extra time. But big mistake of Brentford goalkeeper was key point in this game...

Ah well. It's not that I don't like Fulham or anything, but was really really hoping to see Brentford come up. Lost my bets on them (they were actually the slight favourites) but when they got Bryan up 2-0, I knew it was over. What an era for fullbacks though!

@LTU yeah, and basically, how they lost big (and West Brom won big) on final match day, that kind of crumble after such a great season staying so high, hope it doesn't break them.

P.S. I agree with 0.005 signup fee for next pool. I also prefer 10 winning spots, if there will be many more players. Fees are bigger, more people, 3 prizes would cause many to drop out (I'll play regardless).

Yep , really fancied Brentford to go up too @buwaytress, I think they would have done well ! I can’t see Fulham setting the premiership alight, but it will be nice to see Scott Parker back in the main league . It’s encouraging to see some young English managers doing well .

Dunno...  I was talking out of my ass and it seemed like a good idea when I was typing it.  Lol. 

But if you're interested, prolly let them guess CL final score line blind before we even know which clubs go to the final.  And guess the winning club as early as now.
