Hi folks, just letting people here know that I renewed the mintcoin-central.com domain so it should still function, if you want to fiddle around with the site let me know as I'm responsible for it now

Is there a plan in place or being formed to increase merchant adoption yet?

Personally, given the choice, spending my Mintcoins would be last on my list. You could make the argument that Mintcoin-specific merchants are not really necessary because Mintcoin is so fast and easily trade-able on exchanges etc into whatever form of currency they do accept...and you can convert to any other currency fairly quickly. But really why would anyone spend MINT? I would try to spend any other currency first before sending any one of my MINT.  Personally I think of Mintcoin itself as my personal mining rig that doesn't take up any space. Mintcoin is like a free-power generator hooked up to a BTC mining rig that gains hashing power over time, does not use up space or real estate, (….with the added bonus that it also just so happens to be a trade-able cryptocurrency).  Smiley

We currently have an offer on the table which would integrate Mintcoin into several online casinos. How does the community feel about this?

If this helps you, feel free to share it around. Let this be encouragement. Don't believe the naysayers. We will mint our way to the top! Maybe showing this can help take away doubt. Seriously, this is an example of minting and is what sets Mintcoin apart. I actually have minted more value than I ever would have mined with BTC mining gear... Believe me I know.. In the past, I have spent hundreds of $$$ on mining equipment, I know how the ROI is. The other thing, is that there is nothing complicated about minting, it is so simple, no drivers to set up, no special configuration, anybody can do it, not just the computer savy because the wallet does it automatically.

Well said, like the rise of BTC network hashrate grew the price (mild effect or greater, other things may have played a role as well), the rise in MINTing would in-turn do the same (in theory). Take it from a hardware guy, everything drops in value (10 years of trying to keep up with electronics, back when an 80GB HDD cost $80 & you could not  get a fully functioning PC for under $50) & it's really tough to build something that doesn't depreciate the first time you power it on. To bad they didn't have value built-in, oh wait, they did the whole time (hashing algorithms & key codes have been around  for decades). Never really thought to look at Linux while it's building, something you don't see in Windows or Apple, but it's there & all the years of inputting key codes into software Wink

I'm so glad I found MINT and POS coins a year ago or I might have wasted stacks of cash on electricity and chasing the latest hardware... lol forever mining is such a waste, if a pos coin is spread out decently and has crazy high network weight their probably equally secure as btc

Mintcoin: Year 1 Minting Statistics

The following stats are based on the most current information as of March 9, 2015:

  • Total coins in existence currently 20.79 billion
  • Total coins minted in the last year (365 days) 2.18 billion
  • Current minting block reward rate is 15% annually
  • 210,881,430 coins have been minted in the last 31 days
  • This is an average of 6,802,627 new coins per day being minted currently
  • This means that the minting participation rate is currently at 80.43%
  • This would result in an annual increase in the money supply of 12.06% currently
  • But based on last year, we know the timing until the reward reduction was about 287 days, (not a full year)
  • Based on this, we have about 7 more months until next block reduction - rate change to 10% annually (October 9th estimate)
  • This means we are currently now 27% complete with the 15% annual rate reward phase, which started around December 21, 2014
  • After October 9th, 2015: Assuming a similar minting participation rate, this will drop the increase in the money supply to an annual rate of about 8%
  • This will be a decrease of 33.33%
  • And in approximately 16 and a half months, (July 2016 estimate) we will see the rate change to 5% annually
  • After July 2016: Assuming a similar minting participation rate, this will drop the increase in the money supply to annual rate of about 4%
  • This will be a decrease of 50.00%
  • Keep in mind, minters also get an additional transaction fees bonus!

Could you help me with my problem?

2 Days ago I installed wallet 1.15 and bought my first MINT on Cryptsy.

I downloaded the blockchain and the wallet says its synced and connected. So I deposited my Coins from Cryptsy and sent them to the adress which was already in the MintCoin wallet (autogenerated)

I am waiting for this coins since yesterday. They are not showing up. I tried checkwallet, repairwallet, rescan. Nothing works!

My wallet stopped syncing on a particular block four or five days ago, I upgraded to 1.15 and no change, until someone posts a fix I'll assume it's broke for everyone unless you run commands in the console or something or re-sync the blockchain which I'm in no rush to do because it took 5 days last time.
