I did try to pull through all of the homepage content and feature the most important points of the coin above the fold. I also tried to break down the verbiage for non-techies to understand key points about the coin.

I would like to make a recommendation:

Don't leave it up the the reader to do the work of figuring out the math. Come right out and say it...

Extremely fast 2 minute transactions. 30x faster than Bitcoin! Orders of magnitude more energy efficient!

You should actually say how fast the transaction speed is "2 minutes".

Well... I tend to agree on that argument.
But first of all it is not "transactions" that is faster, it is confirmations, which is two different things.
Bitcoin has a transaction time of a few seconds, similar to MINT. The transaction occur when a node picks up the signed transaction, the transactions will then spread to the other nodes on the network.
At this time is the transaction not reversible, however the possibility of double spend is possible (but extremely unlikely).

The actual confirmation of this transaction is when the transaction is included in a block - AND THIS is significant faster for MINT compared to BTC.
And from here is double spends a looser's game, since the double spend would be at least one block behind.

In real life micro transaction is confirmation not important, unless you trade some thing big such as a car, house, goldbars etc. - and here is the waiting for a few confirmations not critical.

But yes, marketing that MINT has fast confirmation is a way to go, its just not that important for the average user.

So if we should quantize the transactions time, like coolbeans suggest (which is a good idea), then would it be a matter of 1-2 seconds - or rather "instantly".

Cryptography is one of the few things you can truly trust.

ShadowGo: The First Staking Mobile Wallet

The anonymous-based proof of stake e-currency Shadowcoin (SDC) announced that they will be releasing the first fully functional staking mobile wallet client in about a week. At launch, only an Android version of this wallet will be available, but according to their Bitcointalk announcement post (link), they will be releasing an iOS version shortly after that.

Interesting, they are claiming to be the first PoS staking Android wallet...I believe Librexcoin was actually the first to have a staking android wallet.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703042.0

Looked into the specifications of both coins, and neither are long-term sustainable, imo. Very concentrated initial distributions/mining phases (Mintcoin's was excellent), and the proof of stake minimum ages are totally unrealistic...only the top few addresses will control all of the staking... Shadowcoin is also not secure because it has no maximum staking age and also Librexcoin, only those with a large % of the money supply would ever stake. Mintcoin is much more "fair" and balanced.

Exactly.

I long for the day when people wake up to the greatness of Mintcoin  Smiley

Well, speaking of delivery, we could use some. We are long overdue, but it looks like Mintcoin is here to stay and will deliver on the Android wallet soon enough. Right now it is undervalued, and beaten down, maybe a little off the radar now. No other coin has survived the $%!*storm of negative things Mintcoin has had to endure and still survive. Yet Mintcoin lives on. Progress is being made. Everything great about the coin still stands. The very name "Mintcoin" has a lot of intrinsic value for great marketability. Mintcoin had a huge bear market, down 90%. In my experience when you spy an asset that's down 90%, it's a "buy", unless it's going under. There are not very many opportunities like that. At the bottom the story is always terrible, don't touch it with a ten foot pole, forget about it, they are going broke...blah blah blah. And it turns out to be a huge "buy" and you triple or quadruple your money. You have to look for bad news, and find coins down 90%.  That's what I see in Mintcoin, of course the story looks bad at the bottom. It looks terrible, but I think there is potential for Mintcoin to triple and still be at a fair price.

As long as we stay on Mintpal or Cryptsy we will be ok when resurrection time comes. Mintpal has already stated they won't remove it.

coaex is a merchant/vendor dealing in precious metals - no real impact here, imo.

Hello all Mintcoiners,

I have uploaded a full copy of the Mintcoin Blockchain to Megaupload. This is to help all Mintcoiners who are new and want to fully sync their wallets from scratch quickly.

The link for the Blockchain as of August 11th is available here https://mega.co.nz/#!8x8zwZgS!TSg2kis3nLWx12_SsDFnbjQA-zDoOfhdkC09i3ks12g

The Zip file compresses the Blockchain by 31% and provides a direct link for download. The size of the file is 750 MB and takes about 1 hour to download vs approximately 36-48 hours to Sync from scratch.

I posted an in depth guide on sharing the Blockchain in this way a couple pages back as well.

Happy Mintcoining

Crestington

Fabulous! Thanks!

Cryptomommy asked me if I could do this for you guys and so I took the time out to do this for you guys so please make sure that this isn't going to get buried in the thread pages.

I don't own any Mintcoin and don't have a lot of time to devote to helping other Altcoins so I would like it if a someone from the community could take the time to test, adapt and polish the guide for Mintcoin which I posted a few pages back https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.16600

In return for my services I would like it if you guys please could link me to the process you are using for uploading and hosting the Blockchain via Torrents.
Excellent! Do we have a torrent of this yet we can all seed? That way people can download it in like 5 minutes instead of an hour. I have lots of bandwidth to help out seeding.

I don't have loads of bandwidth, but I'd be more than happy to help seed.   Wink

Who can make a torrent and seed this? Also the magnet link on the announcement thread needs to be deleted as it is old and doesn't work.

No Offense to Panda, (Like the Bears)
But the Panda Devs come out with a New Great Idea every few months
Which causes a good Pump , but then fizzles.
Like their move from POW to POS which got them out of the litecoin only market.
(But Mint's POS has a higher rate and I don't have to leave my PC on all of the time to Stake like Panda,)

Buy All of the Panda you want, but keep your finger on the sell trigger so you are ready for the dump.
Last Pump was good for ~ a month before it started to drop.
(You can check their past trading history to confirm for yourself.)

I don't have loads of bandwidth, but I'd be more than happy to help seed.   Wink

Who can make a torrent and seed this? Also the magnet link on the announcement thread needs to be deleted as it is old and doesn't work.

Well I tried testing it out but it is not working for me.  I downloaded it, and pasted the files into my Appdata > Mintcoin folder but when I run the wallet, it gives an error message. Does this happen for anyone else?

It has worked with other coins, what exactly did you do and what error message was given?

I download the files to desktop and extracted them then copy and pasted and replaced the files into the Mintcoin folder where the old files were. This is the error:

Then I tried deleting the two blockchain files and then restarting, and then it works, but starts re-downloading the blockchain from scratch again.

When I have a bit of extra time over the next few days I'll go over it and run some tests, what operating system are you running? I did the Blockchain on a computer with Windows 7.
