I've been thinking. After seeing this Oculus Rift demo, Senza Peso: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajH4KLXMl9k, it made me think it would be awesome if we collaborated with VR developers to develop a totally new form of music experience: VR music videos. Tying in a decentralized band, crowdfunded through a cryptocurrency, making the first VR music videos... NOW THAT'S FUCKING FUTURE. If you know anyone, let us know!

Band update: http://blog.thecypherfunks.com/post/88161248077/band-meeting-week-ending-8-june-2014Soundposition and I are keen for another hangout. Talk Cypherfunks, plans and music. This time we want more people to join in! I have a busy week ahead (going to keynote a SA bank's conference on Bitcoin. Aaaaamped). So I'm keen for the week after (from 16 June onwards). The best time is usually 5-6pm GMT+2. So whenever during next week. How about Friday, June 20 @ 5 P.M. GMT +2 (11 A.M. EDT)?

This post is a bit more difficult.. I'm somewhat conflicted about this. I have an Oculus Developer Kit, and a Unity Pro license with a bunch of assets. I got into Oculus early after it was on Kickstarter in the beginning. Soon afterwards Facebook acquired it. I don't want to deal with Mark Zuckerberg. I don't want a future with Mark Zuckerberg controlling the Cypherfunks. If you want to know why, the following video explains it quite well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfnKmPQdapwI feel that staying independent from powerful people is extremely important.

I don't think there is a viable alternative to Oculus. If there is I would like to hear about it. Looking forward to the next discussion!

Garbage men, toilet cleaners, and ditch diggers get paid. Why shouldn't musicians get paid? I think musicians need to improve their self respect.
People will give a person value if they think that person deserves it. We saw how awesome Radiohead's "In Rainbows" did, and has since been copied to great success. Pay as much as you want. That's pure & natural price discovery. Firstly, money represents the real value of something and is not the real value. If people are used to getting something for free, they aren't likely to pay for it. I may be the only one seeing the irony of this. We're releasing music to the Cypherfunks in the hopes that people will think we 'deserve' compensation, and therefore send a tip in either BTC or FUNK. The reality is that they don't tip, because they are used to getting it for free. It's like the story of Henny Penny, who cooked food for all her friends, that would come over and eat for free. Until one day, she got tired of them always expecting free dinner, and started to tell them if they wanted to eat they would have to pay, in which case afterwards nobody ever came to visit her.

Also getting a lot of downvotes, that means there is censorship. Maybe some downvotes, but I think just making the post was worth it in terms of eyeballs seeing cypherfunks for the first time, even if the words oculus rift are never mentioned again in the context of digital currency.

Oh yeah I can totally agree with that. From one of the articles linked above: "So far, big developers have said they need to see more before committing. “It is an antisocial technology, but we will support it to the extent it’s brought to market and it works for our games,” Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said in a May interview on Bloomberg Television."
