I was just emptying out some old coins from poloniex to my BLK wallet and it literally moved faster then I could put down my phone to check. So thats much improved from my last experience. I commented on their forum thread about it being weirdly different to everywhere else and who knows maybe it got fixed, I dont know or havent read about it officially and I didnt extensively test. Since I moaned about it, just updating it worked fine for me now POS only coins are less secure and more centralized by nature a lot of the time unfortunately.
Have you noticed how much BTC mining changed. Its no longer perfectly distributed around the world by individuals. It'd be good to see which coin is less biased to one part of the world. This argument comes up on other currency standards, Platinum and other metals cannot be used as money due to deposits being too concentrated in certain areas of the world. Thats the reasoning I read, a standard that falls apart because we dont get on with Russia isnt much use globally then. If we fall out with China, hows that going to go and its easily possible being they are communist and with ambitions in the South China sea which despite the name belongs to the territory of many other countries in the region

POS only coins are less secure and more centralized by nature a lot of the time unfortunately. POS only coins are less secure and more centralized by nature a lot of the time unfortunately. That may be true of other PoS coins, but BLK decentralization, peer network and security is at a level that most other PoS and PoW coins can only dream of ever reaching. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/blk/#!network Centralized is not a label i would apply to BLK as it is currently and look at that diversity and number of different countries running a BLK wallet. Is there is another altcoin that has been able to spread out like this? Of course if people can be encourage somehow to withdraw and stake their BLK instead of leaving large amounts on exchanges that will help decentralize more.

BLK is a good project and i would like to get more active and start staking... Any tutorial link, for a newbie like me? I look on blackcoin.co but i didn't find something relevant. relevant to what? what kind of tutorial are you looking for? Relevant for staking BLK coins. Not exactly a tutorial but 1-2 steps how to do it. No tutorial needed .... - open the wallet
- put coins in it
- leave it open ! ... it will collect coins *just* for being connected to the network
I think i get my answer, thank you. I suppose though, that the very first step, is to unlock your wallet...

I think i get my answer, thank you. I suppose though, that the very first step, is to unlock your wallet... Correct, if it's encrypted at least (Which it should be!) Also, you only start staking with coins that are 'mature', which means it has to be >500 blocks (~8 hours) in your wallet.

Can you tell me how much time I will need to sync my blackcoin wallet using a SnapShot instead of bootstrap? Is it possible to stake with a snapshot synced wallet?

This wallet of mine have coins more than 3 months old. I believe that it is mature enough to start staking... Thanks for the info though.

reasons i invested:
solid, stable and old blockchain no premine, no ICO fairly launched the coin's code and idea (short duration POW, POS 3.0) is used later in some other coins after BLK POS only (energy efficient) first POS 3.0
Thank you! Now that you are saying, I have to admit I should take its fair launch into account too. I think, this coin has a good and clean reputation, which is rare among alt coins. But does this technology have a prominent future compared to others such as POW? Because to me, it seems for the major mining organizations getting energy cost-efficiently is not that big issue and people have these doubts about centralization time and time again related POS coins. Does BLK have the answers for these questions?

Does BLK have the answers for these questions? They're good questions. PoS is maturing, ETH is likely to switch at some point. Centralisation isn't unique to PoS, there are many prominent BTC miners with a good chunk of hashpower and then Satoshi himself still has a million coins don't forget! I'd argue the distribution for BLK is especially good given its age and history of trading, so while both PoS and PoW present potential for centralisation, we have that one enormous advantage of almost zero energy consumption (in comparison). Many BTC advocates would cite that as a weakness; the proof of work has to be an exchange of energy for security. Well, BLK is still standing strong for over 3 years purely PoS and have not been successfully attacked, so make of that what you will. I think the world can cope with both existing and I hope BLK continues to set the bar for a model PoS only coin as it did back in 2014.

So, can we claim that PoW coins have their security depend on energy while PoS coins are secure energy-independent? Having energy-independence could be a security advantage. Could you send a few of the articles that back this thought up? As you may know, I am writing a research including blockchain technologies and I have to compare PoS to other categories. BLK could be an excellent example that demonstrates PoS advantages...

You get all your personal shit resolved, brother?
Not yet. I notice that timedrift allowance was tightened up a lot in BLK in recent years.
Is this related to PoS 2 and/or 3? As in, do these protocols require less timedrift allowance? And if so, is that because of coin age being less important?
This is related to Proof of Stake. These protocols do require less timedrift allowance. Coin age is a function of amount and time.

Blackcoin is developing very well. Now China's blackcoin community is very hot. We have a very good strategy to allow more people to participate in the blackcoin. Of course, some improvements are needed.

Revival of BLK failed because it never started since this coin never died. There is no need for a huge pump,BlackCoin is already doubled from the bottom and will keep rising in the next months.
