Ive tried searching but did not read this entire thread, so if this is covered here I apologize.

Ive run into an issue with some of my gridseeds where I have no blinking red/green lights at all when powered on. The fan spins but the devices are not detected with Hashra. I had 18 units hashing away just fine and then added 10 more and ever since Ive had issues. Im still troubleshooting but it seems like the ones that dont work do not have any blinking lights. What should my next steps be? Cables look fine (USB and Power), USB hub is fine...
thanks!

HI Guys I have this weird thing that just started happening with Cgminer, When I restarted cgminer now all of a sudden it keeps showing this every few seconds (GridSeed options: 'baud=115200,freq=875,chips=5')  In between all my shares,

what the hell is going on?

Sounds like a problem with the power of the USB hub with powering on that many GS's, or a faulty USB cable or last a problem with daisychaining too much GS on a raspberry pi. Too deep so to say.

Its only those specific 6 that dont work, in any configuration. I tried only using 1 10port hub and got it working just fine with 10 seeds but as soon as I swap one of the good for one of the bad the bad doesnt work.

And what happens if you clock them at lower speed ?
What if you power them up on a test to see if they are not faulty

Will this work? Or is 64 watts too much for a single cable? If you needed more length you could splice in an existing cable where needed. I just think this would neaten things up exponentially.

I bought something similar and ended up not being able to use it because there was no insulator around one of of the wires. Basically they had bare copper spiralled about the other wire (which had an insulator). I went with this instead: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=110&cp_id=11009&cs_id=1100903&p_id=6880&seq=1&format=2. I'm running in LTC-only mode, though. The wire gauge is not listed so I don't know what its max current is.

laptop power units have a central positive core with the negative in the copper sheath that around the central installation its quite normal I have the one to 8 cct lead and it works fine though as I only have 13  miners one has 6 and on has 7 on it its pretty thin but 8 would be about nearly 5 amps which would probably be pushing it

I'll put down some money on the bet that ALL 5 chip gridseeds will accept the 'better' of the two sizes being, 2.1mmx5.5mm! I guarantee it! Now prove me wrong. Go ahead, make my day!  Grin
2.1 = better conduction. Especially under heavy loading. It will of course also fit mechanically better. No brag, just fact!
Woof!

got a Gridseed miner from Gaw Miners
connected everything etc

once i had this thing one, the fan took off like a rocket ship, it was freaking loud
so the 1st thing i did was disassemble the whole miner (fan and heatsink)
then i just removed the fan including the red/black wires and put a Scythe Gentle Typhoon at it (roughly 30cm from the miner) at low speed (700rpm)

so i fired it up again and i put the freq at 875mhz and i dont hear any noises (except for my pc)
its now doing 388kh/s on Multipool (EU Server)

already bought a new miner and i will do the same with that one, removing the fan so i only have the pcb and the heatsink

Hi miners, I have a problem getting my two Gridseed miners properly running under Raspberry Pi for BTC mining.

I've tried minepeon out of the box (version 0.2.4), but neither one of their versions of cgminer/bfgminer seemed to work with those, so I chose to download the latest sources from bfgminer. The only one I can get running is LTC mining via Scrypt.

HW info:
Code:

So I've compiled bfgminer by pullig it from https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer and configuring it with:
Code:
./configure --enable-scrypt --enable-cpuminer --enable-gridseed --prefix=/opt/minepeon/
make
make install

Then I've called it from /opt/minepeon/bin :
Code:
bfgminer -d gridseed -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=850 --url stratum+tcp://stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u username_1 -p x -T --debug --verbose

Some results:

What is actually working is the following line for LTC:
Code:
bfgminer -d gridseed -S gridseed:/dev/ttyACM0 -S gridseed:/dev/ttyACM1 --set-device gridseed:clock=850  -o stratum+tcp://global.wemineltc.com:3333 -u username.1 -p x --scrypt
(which only fires up one at a time, but that's ok).

Technical setup:
  • Raspberry pi
  • Separate Power Supply for the pi
  • Dlink DUB-H7/E (powered Hub)
  • 2 x Gridseed ASIC Dual Miner
  • 1 Fan connected to 12V Power supply
  • Connection Schema: pi - Dlink - 2 x Gridseed

My question to you: what is the proper line to get them running under linux?
A later integration into minepeon would be desireable, but 1st I'd like to get it running.

Thanx in advance
wondermike

PS1: I've also tried https://github.com/dtbartle/cgminer-gc3355 but there I get yet a different problem: Pool 0 JSON stratum auth failed: [   -3,   "Method 'mining.extranonce.subscribe' not found"...
PS2: Anybody ever tried routing a gridseed miner through esxi?
