so what is to stop a major SHA miner who also has GPU resources or would otherwise be willing to buy them, from going around and spiking the difficulty of the other 4 algos so they can rip through the block with SHA?

I could be wrong, but I thought the algos were separated, and the difficulty adjusted based on a 2:30 block time? Spiking one algo really wouldn't have any affect on the other four, their diffs would stay the same based on their nethash and the 2:30 clock.

Precisely. This is the one of the main points people need to understand.

2:30 block time for each algo, so with 5 algos there should be a block found every 30s on average.

Myriadcoin - the first multi-PoW blockchain! (Mine with SHA256 [ASICs], Scrypt [GPU/ASICs], Skein [GPUs], Groestl [GPUs], OR Qubit [CPUs/GPUs]).

If you guys could help me add to this list that would be great. We want to create an awesome algorithm monitoring hub to analyze the prominence of emerging hashing functions and their net hashrate dynamics. I'm trying to compile every coin that exists that isn't purely SHA256, Scrypt, Skein, Groestl, or Qubit. No PoS coins!

Updated List

Adaptive N: 10-5 Coin, Altcoin, CaiShen, Cataloniacoin, CherryCoin, EmuCoin, ExeCoin, Euphorian, GPU-Coin, H2OCoin, GenesisCoin, Kimocoin, MinerTokens, PerfectCoint, Rhinohorn, RotoCoin, ThePandaCoin(PANDA), SpainCoin, SiliconValleyCoin, Vertcoin, WolongCoin

Scrypt-Jane: 13Coin, AppleCoin, Bitleu, Cachecoin, CopperBars, DestinyCoin, Fatecoin, FreeCoin, Graphene, GoldPressedLatinum, HeroCoin, InsertCoin, InstaPay, microCoin, NITCoin, OneCoin, Pennies, Pingas, QQCoin, RadioactiveCoin, ThorCoin, Tickets, Ultracoin, VendettaCoin, YacCoin, ZcCoin

Cunningham Chains: DataCoin, PrimeCoin, PNUT

X11: Darkcoin, ElectronicYen, HiroCoin, Muniti, StacyCoin

SHA-3/Keccak: 365Coin, CateDoge, CopperLark, CryptoMeth, DadCoin, eCoin, Galleon, HelixCoin, InkCoin, MaxCoin, NEM, Palcoin, Scrasic, Sifcoin, Slothcoin, UkraineCoin, WeCoin, Wolf

Blake: Blakecoin, Landcoin, Photon, StarTrek

Quark: Atom, BitQuark, C-Note, DIMEcoin, FairQuark, Frozen, InternationalCoin, Online-to-Offline, OxCoin, Metacoin, MiniCoin, Molecule, Particle, PopulaceCoin, Probe, Quark, Quarkbar, Randomquark, SecureCoin, Zurcoin

Momentum: Protoshares

HSH256: Mediterraneancoin

Scrypt-PGC: Pangu

Prime: RieCoin

Scrypt-HTC: HuitongbiCoin

Keccak/SHAvite/Fugue: Metiscoin

Fugue256: FugueCoin

SHA-1: SHA1Coin

Groestlx2: GroestlCoin

Proof of Friction: FrictionCoin

Proof of Transaction: FlutterCoin

Unclassified: AnimeCoin, ChainCoin, Heavycoin, HunterCoin

Please add to the list! I'll give each person 200 Myriad for each coin they can hunt down and add to the list. We want to include every coin, even the coin with just 1 miner on it (if it exists).

Myriadcoin - the first multi-PoW blockchain! (Mine with SHA256 [ASICs], Scrypt [GPU/ASICs], Skein [GPUs], Groestl [GPUs], OR Qubit [CPUs/GPUs]).

Cuckoo Cycle is an algo not on the list - http://cpucoinlist.com/cryptocurrency-algorithms/cuckoo-cycle/

It hasn't been used in a coin yet. The author is on these boards as tromp.

I'm not sure who has web access besides 8bit, and he's apparently very hard to get a hold of. It would be nice to eliminate as many bottlenecks as possible.

A new coin that apparently already launched called Twecoin has the following linear hashing algos: "fugue -> shavite -> hamsi -> panama"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=553593.new#new

Have you heard of the last two? It's CPU only. Could be interesting.

I'm sure cbuchner1 has already cracked it and it's mining it on nvidia cards...

myriad has significant first mover advantage IMO if one of the algos becomes popular or is useful the best move would be for Myriad to ABSORB the algo into its own arsenal.

lord ... the dev of that other coin just launched it amid much confusion apparently.. looks like hes just mining it away sad i wanted to see how those CPU algos faired with large hashrates. :/
